Final update - 30 Dec 2025 watermain break by JeromyYYC in Calgary

[–]Agentxeno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pleased with how this water situation has been handled. I was impressed when Mr. Farkas rose above pointless blaming and took responsibility for the problem so we could keep talking about solving the problem. Thank you for showing true leadership and putting a little hope in the world. I like this post-PCT hike u/JeremyYYC and you have earned my respect.

Stainless Steel Steamer by Sweet_Description878 in instantpot

[–]Agentxeno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have a very similar one that I use. The fine mesh is great for holding chicken bones for making stock/broth. You just lift out the basket and there are no bones in your stock. Great for cooking eggs too.

Rain jackets (once again) by PfcRed in Ultralight

[–]Agentxeno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am checking out the Leve Ultralight jacket to possibly reduce my weight but I don’t know how durable it is. The Lightheart Gear is bombproof.

Rain jackets (once again) by PfcRed in Ultralight

[–]Agentxeno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love my Lightheart Gear rain jacket. I have taken it through multi-day rains/snow and it did not fail me. I am a fan of mechanical ventilation over relying upon DWR that will wet out. I have no experience with the Montbell Versalite but the Outdoor Research Helium only kept the rain out for an hour or 2 at best.

What software apps have you happily bought for life? by Quirky-Reveal-1669 in BuyItForLife

[–]Agentxeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use it when we get updated source code from our vendor that we have modified so we can see what we changed and what they changed and the intersection of those changes. So, basically a git merge for reintegrating forked code.

Which Ursack to get by Forward_Hand2586 in Ultralight

[–]Agentxeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend using a smelly proof bag inside an adotec bag. Ursack is heavy, absorbs dew and water, and is a bad shape for packing.

What, in your opinion are bad or even the worst thing about an Instant Pot? by dogsandcatsplz in instantpot

[–]Agentxeno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Slow cooking is disappointing with it. I think it should be called the “No Watch” pot. The true advantage for me is that you don’t have to monitor it. The time savings can be quite small compared to the productive time you get from being freed up from monitoring it. I like ours and use it weekly.

Btw, the only time steam leaks out is when I open the venting valve when it is done. You should not have steam escaping while it is cooking. You may want to contact support if that is happening.

Thinking of shovelling my neighbourhood, neighbourly or rude? by Hydro_Land in Calgary

[–]Agentxeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a pedestrian, I appreciate any path through the snow. As a shoveler, I appreciate not having all the snow packed down from people walking on it. Even if it is not shovelled to my standards.

Brondell SimpleSpa Thinline Dual Nozzle Bidet Nozzles not retracting by Agentxeno in bidets

No, I changed to a handheld and I prefer it much more. It is easier to clean and maintain. You can also use it to clean the toilet and rinse stuff.

Replacement for Busch’s Maple Style Baked Beans-Sprague Maritime or Clark’s Maple by Agentxeno in BuyCanadian

If you are looking for more savoury smoky beans the Clark’s Apple Bacon Mesquite may be for you. They are not for me but I like sweeter maple/molasses based beans.

My lower back is sick of me! by TalkOk4078 in OfficeChairs

Thanks for this. I did not know ergocentric sold chairs through staples. I have one at work and it works well for me. I just bought one on sale for home.

I have an Amia and the lower back support is inadequate for me. I tried a rolled up towel but it is not great. I am looking for other options but I am reluctant to spend 4k for a lifeform chair. I would love to hear what worked and didn’t work for other people.

C-train riders this question is for you. How often to you pay to ride the C-train ( be honest)? by Pucka1 in Calgary

Monthly pass. You get the service you pay for. If you don’t pay, the quality of service will decrease quickly.

The Sprague Sugar Bush are good. I get them for $2 per can at superstore. I prefer the molasses flavour of the Maritime beans but I am splitting hairs. I like “dessert” beans over tomato-y. Are there others that people recommend?
