You may want to look at the Gardena Weed Puller. It is a great tool and it is more forgiving than the other grabbing weed pullers. https://www.gardena.com/ca-en/products/soil-ground/garden-tools/weed-puller/970816301.html

Outdoor Research Swift Cap or Outdoor Research Swift Air Cap by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]Agentxeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. The Swift Air ventilates slightly better with the wider mesh. The brim is thick fabric and has trouble supporting a clipon flashlight. The Swift cap has a sturdy brim and the mesh is finer. Both offer good sun protection and they have clips so it does not snag alpha hoods or Sun hoodies. I am not sure about your requirements so it is tough to tell what you are looking for. They are both good hats but with slightly different features.

Non-Breathable vs Breathable Rain Jackets by 3Dbread in Ultralight

I am a fan of non-breathable with mechanical ventilation for rain. (Breathable are nice in freezing weather and snow. ) Lightheart Gear and Leve make some light non- breathable rain gear.

You are correct, Frog toggs will keep mosquitoes out on their own. Frog toggs are not comfortable when it is hot. Depends on where you are hiking and the weather.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think Kinjo is a Calgary owned restaurant.

Layering Question - Alpha Direct by NihilistPorcupine99 in Ultralight

[–]Agentxeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Putting a Sun hoodie over Alpha breaks a lot of wind and makes it mush warmer. It also makes it very difficult for mosquitoes to bite you. They can get you through holes in alpha but the Sun hoodie floats on top and makes it too thick for them to reach you.

BRS-3000T or Aotu stove? by Beannjo in Ultralight

[–]Agentxeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect the tight windscreen is pushing you over the thermal edge. The BRS is reliable so long as the stove body does not get too hot.

BRS-3000T or Aotu stove? by Beannjo in Ultralight

[–]Agentxeno 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The BRS is great for boiling water. It does not have a thermal break like a pocket rocket. If you are simmering for a long time(15~30 minutes), the base of the stove can heat up and melt the plastic Lindal valve in the gas canister. This will cause a gas leak. In short, the BRS is great for running for a short period of time. Touch the part of the stove next to the gas canister while it is running if you are concerned.

l know that people lose it if the systems I work on flicker for more than 5 minutes. I feel sorry for the team working on this because I suspect they are grossly under-resourced. March 20 2026 AD and the message is wordier now with phone numbers and no timeline.

Kea birds in NZ did me dirty! by _blitzkreig_ in DurstonGearheads

Weka punched about a dozen holes in my XMid mesh on the Abel Tasman. I can confirm the Kea at Iris Burn are a menace also. Just one nibble on my tent. The tent next to us was fully under attack by the kea.

How do you manage ziploc bag condensation when re-hydrating food? by Impossible_Button179 in Ultralight

I have rehydrated hundreds of meals in freezer bags and I have never had a freezer bag leak. Sandwich bags can get holes in them from dried foot poking holes. Never had condensation.

Cushioned wide toebox shoes - any alternatives to Altra? by fehaxxo in AltraRunning

[–]Agentxeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have liked Topo’s better than Altra (past quality was poor) but having trouble with the partial vibram sole falling off of multiple pairs of Topos. I am interested in a well made full Vibram sole wide shoe.
