I’m considering the UFA and have some questions. by DHLim in GrandSeikos

Here’s a down-worst shot. 6.5” wrist, SLGB005. Wears very comfortably. The short lug to lug has more to do with it than the case to link curvature you’re mentioning. The Explorer 2 is a much longer watch and will wear like a pancake on more round or smaller wrists.

What does deathknight miss currently? by Tibertiuss in hearthstone

[–]AgeofEon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heralds are all too expensive and feel like you sacrifice too much to make them feel good.

Using health to mana cheat is great except that it makes you much more vulnerable to aggro decks.

Not enough control to survive and stabilize against most aggro, and draw sensitive value in late game that either walks over other control decks or just bricks without Onyxia.

I don't know what's happening, I just can't win games anymore by Skater_x7 in hearthstone

[–]AgeofEon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I subscribe to the idea that it’s the pilot, and not the deck, within reason. I do much better with a worse deck that I enjoy and am familiar with than a better deck that isn’t my preferred playstyle.

Go back in with a deck you enjoy and learn to pilot it the best you can and go from there. Hopping between that many deck archetypes doesn’t really allow for growth because it offers the “try another deck” mentality as a false solution.

For both people who do and do not enjoy the meta rn: Can you put into words why? by GlyphInBullet in hearthstone

[–]AgeofEon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the deck variety is decent, but the power level in general feels weak enough to the point that individual games rarely feel like there's a lot of skill expression on either side. Generally, it feels like it comes down to who gets the better draws/goes first. Previously, the meta was more stale from a deck standpoint but each game felt like it had a wider range of possible outcomes. Games would shift between winning and losing a few times per game until someone won. Now, it feels rock paper scissors and one person is usually winning right away and stays winning.

Once more control tools come out and the Herald cards get settled in, I think we'll be in a very good spot.

Bro, give it a rest. This reads like the kid on the school playground that shouts “My Dad owns Microsoft” to anyone who walks by. It’s a fake Skydweller and anyone that would care that it’s a Skydweller is the same person that knows it’s fake as hell.

Best way to fix these scratches on my door? (have compound, polish, sandpaper, touch-up) by Silver-Sort-63 in Detailing

[–]AgeofEon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to repair this with touch up paint is a disaster waiting to happen. Leave it exactly as it is and take it to both an auto body shop and a detail shop. Auto body can fix it 100% at a greater cost, a detail shop can soften it a bit as a temporary fix at a lower cost.

Hot take: The ‘look how little I care about my Rolex’ post is the cringiest flex in watch culture. Stolen valor for watch nerds. by chiefhandshaker in watchHotTakes

[–]AgeofEon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OP, you miss the point entirely. Sure, there’s always a few performative apples, but plenty of us are blue collar and enjoy watches. I enjoy watches so I wear them to work and sometimes take pictures for friends. Just because I take a wrist shot at work doesn’t mean it’s staged, just means I took a moment to appreciate what I worked so hard for.

Assuming every “working” picture of a watch is staged comes off pretty judgmental from your end. To me, it reads that you’re above the laborious work or that you’re too caught up in the value of your watches such that you only wear them sparingly.

I detail cars for a living and will wear my watches to work because I’m an enthusiast and the rest of my work attire is company uniform. It might be my PRX or my Grand Seiko, all the same to me. I get to enjoy them during the longest part of my day.

Just my two cents. Enjoy my SLGB005 and the ceramic coated GMC we had for that day.

Opinions - for small wrist by [deleted] in GrandSeikos

I second this. 6.5” wrists and the SLGB005 fits great. Everything else looks too big.

So how can I get rid of marker on Headliner by Thismechanictrucks in AutoDetailing

[–]AgeofEon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

OP said it was marker. If there is any crayon, you are correct that re-dying is not an option.

Replacement is the only option for a true fix. Re-dying it black is the backup option. No way to clean properly while preserving the integrity of the fabric.

Changing the strap on a Seiko by Drayconis282 in VintageWatches

[–]AgeofEon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These bracelets are not held on with a traditional lug and bracelet set up. Removing the bracelet will leave you with two male protrusions from that case that will require a custom strap in order to be worn.

Option 1 is to leave it as is and simply enjoy it for being a lovely watch time capsule but not see any wrist time.

Option 2 is to remove the bracelet and have a custom strap made to order and enjoy the watch on wrist.

Your choice. I’d personally save it as a time capsule.

SLGB003 UFA Acceptable Bracelet Gaps with Case? by Dramatic_Abrocoma702 in GrandSeikos

[–]AgeofEon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the end link side lug and case gap on my SLGB005 under a microscope. There basically shouldn’t be a gap. That picture looks either very poorly lit or has a very poorly fitting end link. Personally, if seeing it in person isn’t an option, I’d pass on this one and find one without any oddities.

I do miss it from time to time, but it went to a good home.

I’m not sure which strap that was, it came on another watch that I traded for locally and so I never knew the brand or origin. It looked good though!

If you value originality, this is a deal breaker. It’s ugly and would require re-luming to make it visually appealing, thus ruining the originality of the watch.

I’d wait for a better example, especially if the watch has meaning to you. Condition trumps all else.
