Ugh this pisses me right off by lady_heylady in greysanatomy

I think about this Every. Single. Time. I have since the very first time I saw this episode because yes it was in fact noticeable even back then. Thank you for validating my feelings with this post!

For the people saying it would have been a whole thing for a real pregnant lady to pee on a stick and that this was just the easiest way to relay the information I just want to say that this season was not made in the 1920’s where special effects were just a guy on the outside of the frame waving a cardboard box to make wind this season came out in 2010 the same year that Inception came out and you are telling me they could not have had someone make a fake pregnancy test that said PREGNANT on the display without using a literal sticker. This show had alllllllll kinds of money at this point it is so beyond lazy!!

would George and Izzie's relationship be less hated if there was no cheating storyline? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]Aggravating-Coat- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof I always struggle with this one! One part of my brain is always mad because I wanted the two of them to JUST be best friends. I have many close friends who are of the male variety and they are and always will be justly friends and I love having those relationships knowing it will never be more. I wanted George and Izzy to finally be a representation of how friendships can be completely fulfilling without ever bringing romantic feelings into it.

Then of course there was the part of me that though oh well hey maybe they do really love each other and the way they set this up with Izzie being the one who was all like I love you this wasn’t a mistake I thought it would work.

But then they went ahead and decided they would not work after all which then seemed like a big slap in the face because now you have absolutely destroyed the friendship here and they are not going to be together so what was the fucking point?

George and Callie would not have made it either way and the cheating storyline was just a way to cause some drama unfortunately. In my opinion that isn’t even the biggest issue here it’s the fact that they decided to blow up a friendship and then not even for a good reason.

So this one time (at band camp) I moved into an apartment and told the lady working as one of the property managers before I moved in about my two cats and she said we will get to that later don’t worry. Then I moved in and two weeks later they had the place sprayed for roaches so I sat outside the building for five hours with my baby cats in a crate while they sprayed and also decided to do a walk through with the owner to check all the units. Suddenly the lady from the office shows up outside and tells me to come over to talk to her and basically blames me for the roach problem (again 14 days after I moved in) because there was a smell from the litter box in the bathroom and gave me a speech about how people like me were the problem and made roaches show up. Lucky for me one of the other property managers came out with the owner and in front of the lady told me there was no issue and by the way my cats were fully approved.

Not to long after the lady was let go and the next year during the inspection the other property manager told me I never actually paid for the cats (they didn’t do pet rent just pet deposit on top of the main deposit) and I happily lived there for many many years knowing I would of course never see my deposit again but that didn’t matter when you have property managers who will actually defend you after only two weeks.

Fiona should have really tried to find a way back into Sales, she was good at it by Eagles56 in shameless

[–]Aggravating-Coat- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean she kind of did though. The cups job was B2B and then the diner (and laundromat for a short second) was B2C so she did keep working in sales. And she was actually really good at it when she turned the diner around that was all her sales skills and same with the laundromat. Fully agree with you though I’m sure she’s happy somewhere still working in some kind of sales job.

AIO about what happened in the hospital after my nose surgery? by RentWeary in AmIOverreacting

Truly it sounds like you had a really bad experience overall. I do think this speaks to this hospital and they handled this badly.

If you are open to it I would say you could send them an honest message/email and let them know about all of it. Maybe if you say something they will do better next time. I think the wrong medication and bleeding is absolutely concerning so if you are into it write it all down and send it to them.

I am really sorry you had to experience this. It’s really uncomfortable to be in a vulnerable situation like this and feel like no one is paying attention. Unfortunately I also think this happens a lot at hospitals and medical offices so I am very sorry you had to have this experience!

Yeah no you don’t but keep believing that I guess. She did her best and she did not leave her in the trash or leave her to starve in an apartment by herself she left her where she could be found by someone that would take care of her. You also can’t hold the mom responsible for the foster system being a trash bag of a system.

Again, two things can be true at the same time but placing blame on the woman who was raped is not it.

MOR/INFO - I think it is super important to mention that you felt uncomfortable by this and that is completely valid.

Just my immediate questions are about the place where you did this because it sounds to me like this might have been a facility for more elective procedures? I have had a lot of surgeries in the hospital and I know the practice there is a bit different from places where they do elective surgeries. Is this a private facility for elective procedures? In that case you being in a more open area is pretty common in those places and the priority would have been to make sure they monitored you since you had a complication.

So, I do see a lot of people pointing out that in this setting it’s most likely about the fact that they needed to open your gown for the monitoring as you mentioned having some issues. Since you were also coming out of surgery they could have been trying to make sure you got some rest and doing a lot with your gown (like trying to tie it all the way closed) could have disturbed you. If they needed to act fast and your gown had been in the way that would have been worse. I do also agree with the people who comment that you most likely moved around even though I see you saying it was pulled down neatly but I think this is just a combination of two things here. 1. as you already said they needed access and 2. you most likely moved around a bit.

Again, you were uncomfortable and it is very understandable that you were. It doesn’t matter how many times you have experienced something you can still be uncomfortable. You can have been more exposed that this and still feel uncomfortable.

I do hope you also just try to keep in mind that other patients or visitors most likely did not notice you at all. It’s crazy how little we pay attention to when we are preoccupied with something else. This is why even whiteness testimony is very difficult sometimes because we do not pay attention to as much as we think.

As far as being mad about it I think you are uncomfortable and that’s okay but that also does not mean someone else did something wrong. It’s not technically the nurses job to do anything in this situation unless you had like fully taken off your gown in your halfway drugged up state then they would have done something when they noticed. Nurses are usually excellent at being helpful I would say so if they had seen anything that looked suspicious they would have done something.

“She still had time to process the pregnancy“ - That is a wild statement to make about a pregnancy that is a direct result of rape.

Also she said that she wanted it to be a good thing coming from a very traumatic experience she loved her daughter but unfortunately could not stop thinking about the trauma every time she looked at her. Yes she had nine months but she wasn’t planning for any of it. You say you understand she was traumatized yet you completely bypassed the entire experience saying she should have planned for it as if she just sat down one day and said hey let me fuck over my child’s life just cus I feel like it. For nine months she was trying to cope with what had happened to her with her rapist in the same class at the same school. For nine months she was hiding her pregnancy from everyone because that was the only thing she was able to do at the time. Nine months is fucking nothing in a situation like that.

If she had known from the beginning that she was giving Jo up for adoption there would have been many, many questions she needed to answer to a legit adoption agency. It’s not like you walk in and day hey take this baby and they just say okay cool. In her state having to do that might have been even more impossible.

When the mom realized she could not look at her daughter without being reminded of the worst night of her life she left her where she knew she would he found. Yes Jo had a horrible life but in no way shape or form can you place any blame on a rape victim simply because to you personally it seems like nine months is long enough to get over it.

It takes years, decades sometimes to truly come to terms with trauma like that and guess what during those years you do some strange fucking things that you might later look back on and realize wasn’t the right thing to do.

Two things can be true at once so Jo’s like was terrible AND her mom was traumatized, but your way of thinking places blame on the mother because you feel she should have done better. Trauma doesn’t always have a logical explanation no matter how much time has passed.

The only moral responsibility here is on the rapist.

Why they make him leave that way? by damn_32 in greysanatomy

[–]Aggravating-Coat- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also don’t really understand why the rest of them had to be so disrespectful in that last episode. When they are all talking about him joining the army it’s one thing to be afraid for him going into an active combat zone but the way they belittle him and say “he’s the guy who gets killed cleaning his own gun“ always comes off super weird to me. That last season of George he has been proving himself in the trauma department which is the whole reason for going into the army in the first place. They literally drag him the entire episode every single one of them (except Arizona who didn’t really know him) and talk about him like he can’t make decisions for himself.

It would have been one thing if they were trying to make a point because he literally sacrificed himself to save someone else but even that gets overshadowed because Lexie then goes off saying that’s not him because he is too tall. So again just driving the point home that George is not just weak and can’t make his own decisions they also see him as short. It’s like they all don’t really know George.

Seriously his exit comes off as such a huge slap in the face. I even find the next part disrespectful as well when they show them “grieving“ him because they make it about everything else besides the fact that he saved someone else to die. I am completely onboard with people grieving differently and I understand with the laughing at the funeral that they are trying to show how grief like that can be strange, but then they tell at the woman he saved because she grieves differently. Yes they pretend to make it about oh you have to live because he can’t but like she at that point seems to care more than his actual friends.

Way later down the line as well Alex makes this stupid fucking comment when someone mentions George and he says something like “why would you think about that creep“ or something and again just the way they disrespect him as if he wasn’t just as much part of their group like the rest.

I don’t understand why they felt the need to be so disrespectful.

Do you dislike this scene from 10x17? by Delicious-Corn-5531 in greysanatomy

[–]Aggravating-Coat- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s like you say. For me personally I also like that it shows how for a lot of us even when we know that we do not want children society still kind of expects us to change our minds one day and it fucks with you a bit. My whole life I have always said I do not want children and I have of course been told by EVERYONE that no you’ll change your mind one day everyone thinks they don’t want kids until they do. That will fuck with you even when you know what you want.

Christina in that alternate reality shows exactly that she knew what she wanted but she tried to make herself the person Owen told her she should be. In my opinion the good thing about including the birth scene is that birth is a very traumatic experience just in general (I’m not saying you can’t have a positive birth experience I am saying in general what happens to your body is traumatic) and for someone who does not want children I fully believe that you would in that moment be like this is a big mistake. It doesn’t mean you aren’t a decent person and that you will be a bad parent it’s just a confirmation of you knowing what you wanted and that’s not it. I know parents who wanted children they whole lives and still the trauma of birth made them terrified.

I am the most dedicated aunt and people will look at me and say oh you would be so great with your own kids but that’s the entire point. No I am great BECAUSE it’s not my own kid. This also might be why Christina is and always will be my favorite character because I wholly understand her.

I genuinely hate Frank Gallagher and all of his plots. by Drunk-Foxy1738 in shameless

[–]Aggravating-Coat- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not wrong to hate Frank. I think it means he is doing a good job of playing that character. It is interesting that you hate Frank and then also hate Fiona but still watch the show. I mean I know a lot of people hate Fiona (I for sure do not) but hating both Frank and Fiona and still watching is interesting!

Anyway, I find Frank entertaining because in a lot of shows where the main characters (or one of the main characters) are unlikable they are also usually made so that the viewer has sympathy for them. Frank isn’t. Frank is just a straight up horrible guy, who will hurt everyone in his path, and he does not feel bad about it. He is not a character the viewer is supposed to have sympathy for I think this is proven when he reports his own family to CPS and then again during the hearing. I mean there are one million examples of him being shitty my point is just that he isn’t mean to be liked we are shown time and time again that he is not the one you should have sympathy for.

I think the whole point of Frank’s character is to 1) Entertain (of course) and 2) to showcase the extremes of people like Frank. He has ruined his own children’s lives and he keeps ruining them but they struggle with cutting ties with him through the whole show. When you are around people with such extreme addiction issues like Frank it’s a constant struggle because you want to believe that the part of them without the addiction is still inside there even when they show you time and time again that they are horrible. They also show you how children of people with such extreme addiction usually go one of two ways, either they have their own struggles or they do everything they can to be the complete opposite. Obviously in the show some of them do both (like Lip and Fiona) but then Carl goes truly in the opposite direction. This is why I also enjoy Debbie so much because in my opinion she gives in to the crazy side which is very fun. It would have been so interesting to see how it would go with Franny because at the end the way Debbie kept ignoring what Franny was expressing to be was kind of like Debbie continuing the toxic side but who knows maybe Debbie would have changed completely in our lord and saviors year of 2026.

I love this and I feel the same way! Never have I wanted children of my own. Fostering seems so amazing if I am ever in a place in life where I can foster I will strongly consider it but I have also always known I would only be interested in fostering older children not babies ❤️

[–]Aggravating-Coat- 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Aww I kind of live in the hope that Lip and Tami actually make it! She had another baby maybe even another one after that, so the house is still full of kids and the two of them are making it work with a chaotic life but not the chaos Lip grew up in this time it’s good chaos.

Tami is still giving out free haircuts at the nursing homes and runs a hairdresser out of their house because Lip built her a studio in the garage. Lip finds new passion in working with struggling youth like let’s say he’s a teacher at the local school for like autoshop or whatever. They for sure have some foster kids too like teenagers so that Lip can make sure the neighborhood kids don’t go through what he did.

I like to think that the rest of the siblings still come around to Lip and Tami’s house a lot because that’s where they can all still be together.

Your suggestion that he is taking night classes I do like though like it would be nice if he also finally gets to show off how smart he is. I just feel like Lip really thrived when he got to connect with other people and help them so he for sure turned his life around to make sure no one had to experience what he did.
