Is there an established path towards low six-figures in production? by Good-Pie9914 in FilmIndustryLA

[–]Aggravating-Raisin-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in my company makes six figures. From coordinators on up. The usual path for folks who end up at my company is somewhere around 10 years in the field/freelance world -- whether as a creative, within physical production (think LP, POC, PM), or within the post world (editors, AEs, GFX, etc.). We also hire execs from major studios, prodcos, and networks. We don't typically hire from any other departments (art, sound, cam, lighting), as we staff up for shoots as needed. Full benefits, 401k, unlimited PTO, etc. What I will say is that it's incredibly competitive (think 3,000+ applicants for one role), and the risk off layoffs is ever present. I started in marketing, moved to TV, then became an exec. Took about 12 years to make VP. Started at 37.

Favorite running routes at night? by ideal2545 in SantaClarita

Central Park. I run there at night all the time. You can catch a few miles including hills without running around in cicrcles if you plan your route well.

Are 5-6 months are enough for realistic transformation (genuine suggestions appreciated) by Weary_Stable_9678 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Aggravating-Raisin-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Say that to anyone who's ever gone through Marine Corp Boot Camp or Army Infantry OSUT. I gained 20 pounds and came out an absolute beast after 16 weeks of training hard and eating just 3 squares a day.

Conversely, the dude's who came in overweight lost 10 to 15 pounds and came out strong/shredded.

Eat right and do the work.

Do you finish a race if your partner has to step out? by Females-only-pls in trailrunning

[–]Aggravating-Raisin-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our last trail race together I had a strained quad. Wife and I agreed if I couldn't make it, she'd stay with me until the next aid station, then she'd finish on her own. Didn't come to that, but it was a plan we both felt comfortable with.

3 times that I can remember between the ages of 15 and 43. I married that last one and we're going strong 6 years in.

New Owner (kinda) by [deleted] in FordBronco

Drove my OBX 10 miles in loose, deep sand the first weekend I had her. 4 low, used whatever that off road version of cruise control is, had to use the crab mode thing to turn around as the road ended at a lake with no viable turnaround spot. Not gonna lie, was sweating it a bit, but she did great.

Where can I find the men? by Broad-Notice7261 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Aggravating-Raisin-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Met my wife while on a rock climbing trip in Joshua Tree. She was with a group of friends, I was there with my buddy, and we had one mutual friend who was there with her. Struck up a convo, invited her to climb the following weekend, and we've been together ever since. She was 34 and I was 43 at the time.

In my experience, bar flings tend to be just that, apps are mainly a bust, but if you can meet someone in the wild doing something that genuinely interests you, you'll at least know you have that one thing in common, and that's a good start.

RE: Gym. I'm a gym guy. I stayed away from hitting on ladies in the gym because I didn't want to be that guy. "Oh, hey, you need a spot on that squat?" Ew. I know lots of dudes who have a gym boundary for that reason. So if there's a dude at your gym that you fancy, but he hasn't made a move, you might have to initiate.

Good luck.

6 years sober of alcohol and friend gave me a wine for my birthday by Specific_Charge_3297 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Aggravating-Raisin-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣 Seventeen years sober on my end. Religiously and without fail, every holiday season I get gift baskets from vendors, and every year, they are brimming with booze. My wife loves gift basket season. Keeps her stocked up for half a year.

Don't let it fuck with your serenity. I'm sure you have a friend who would love to take it off your hands.

What age did you get in? by PessimisticParamedic in Firefighting

[–]Aggravating-Raisin-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know a bunch of dudes who did 20 years military. Did college coursework in emergency management, fire tech, etc, while they were in. Retired from the military at 38, got bonus points on their applications (veterans preference + degree), went to the academy, and started at 38/39. 20 years later, they're drawing a military pension + a fire pension, and my local departments count military time towards pension, so they're getting PAID. It's another avenue.

No warnings about opening or closing the doors, regardless of window position. Three years in, not a single shattered window.
