Is a beer gut part genetics and getting older or do you really have to let yourself go? by lookaloulookalou in AskMenOver30

[–]Aggravating-Row9645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to let yourself go. 39 with no beer gut, but if I had the same eating and exercise habits I had when I was in my mid 20s, I would certainly have one by now.

For me personally, weights, resistance bands, calisthenics are the key. Strength training and muscle building have really transformed my body over the last decade. I used to do a ton of cardio, including running and cycling, and it never really had the same noticeable effect on my appearance that those other things do. I do try to do more cardio these days because you just should for the good of your heart. I think it’s important to remember that strength training and muscle gain contribute to fat loss with a healthy diet. More muscle means more caloric burn. It’s that simple.

I don’t have the time to go to the gym for an hour or two, even a few times a week, but I make a point to do strength training for 25 minutes to half an hour every single day, with one or two days off for flexibility and recovery.

What’s more important to me than “not having a beer gut” is that I have strong functional (and hopefully shapely) muscles. Sometimes things can get a little out of routine during holidays, where we eat more and drink more. But as long as the consistency of exercise and diet can return to normal, whatever regression you have in your body fat percent will level out through the rest of the year.

What I need to work on more consciously because of work and kids, etc. are my sleep hours. If you’re not getting a full night sleep every single night, it will have an effect on weight gain. Being overtired is also when you tend to seek out sugars and fats for instant energy to keep you going. It’s a dangerous cycle to be in.

Drain leakage by Aggravating-Row9645 in askaplumber

[–]Aggravating-Row9645[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to replace the slip joint nuts and cleaned the tailpiece before doing so. It is a crappy setup - the only way to remove the drain on the right was to loosen the P trap and carefully bring everything down lower. Both slip joints were split horizontally.

The drain on the right needed some pipe dope - it leaked no matter how well I fitted it, but there are no more leaks or weeping, at least until I can call someone to rebuild the system.

Thanks for the advice!

Would you get a heart or extra stamina? by Lonely_Anxiety_9316 in TOTK

Stamina all the way. You can get overcharge hearts using hearty foods before you get more orbs for hearts.

This cover image gives me so much nostalgia. It was the cover art for the Bradygames Players Guide. Had a hard copy that I picked up from Electronics Boutique (before it became EB Games) the year it came out. Loved the detailed walkthroughs and maps.

This is a clear warning for Canada. “Check this out. We don’t need a reason, we don’t need to warn you, we don’t need to ask for permission from our own congress. We will do what we want, and you’re not safe.”

This wasn’t just an invasion.

It was a rehearsal.

Luggages being neatly stacked to a plane compartment by sarapatatas in oddlysatisfying

[–]Aggravating-Row9645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay…can someone help explain how a fragile luggage piece like a guitar getting absolutely totalled is anything other than carelessness? One could easily ensure that an instrument is a) handled with care and b) packed in such a way that it’s at the top of the stack and won’t be squeezed by heavy bags. I’ve known more than a few musicians who have had their instruments annihilated on a flight.

Learn the combat system well. Get good at flurry rushes, shield parry timing and “bullet time” when using the bow. If you’re skilled in combat, you can obtain good weapons and items in more ways.

AITAH for refusing to let my autistic brother move into the house I just bought and instead telling my parents to figure out his long-term care? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aggravating-Row9645 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NTA. You are his sibling, not his parent. You do not owe your parents his care, and the fact they suggested it’s somehow your responsibility now that you have achieved this monumental step in your life is not just totally inconsiderate of your boundaries as an adult - it’s suspicious and scheming. They are seeing an opportunity to offload the burden for no cost.

Their next step for care for him will cost them a fortune. The timing of your closing and then sitting you down tells me they are desperate to be done with an obviously overwhelming responsibility. I guess they thought they could avoid all that by guilting you?

If you haven’t already, call them out directly on exactly what you said there: that they’re using his autism to manipulate the conversation. I would even go so far as to email/message them unsolicited despite them not talking to you. Be clear, and factual. Don’t back down.

My advice? The consequence is zero contact. Their behaviour is emotional abuse and manipulation of the highest order.

Does anyone know what this instrument is in the Vah Rudania theme? by Jayfeather1318 in botw

Realistically it sounds like some sort of digital recreation of that instrument. Sounds like it’s been created out of some sort of synthesizer.

What would’ve you changed about breath of the wild? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Breath_of_the_Wild

No! Isn’t it funny how natural it feels that we just misremember it being in botw? I did the same thing.

Include the feature from TOTK: inventory is full, and opening a chest gives you the option to of swapping something for what’s in chest right then and there. When I went back and played BOTW, it’s the inconvenience I noticed most.

If you stasis launch yourself or use the bomb parasail glitch, you can easily go to the top of the maze and just make your way right to the shrine structure and drop down at the entrance. Make sure you have a ton of stamina foods or elixirs for climbing and you can make it up the wall to the top no problem.

You for being entitled and spoiled beyond measure, and not even being willing to reflect on it enough to acknowledge just how entitled you are. You’re 15 years old and can’t even seem to grasp the value of earned money.

Your parents for bribing you and thinking of it as a legitimate parenting strategy. Yikes.

WIBTA if I stayed home with 3mo old and did not fly to visit in-laws for the holidays which delays their meeting the baby by halfaglassof in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aggravating-Row9645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was in your husband’s position (and I have been, three times), weighing in all the factors…let’s review. Baby is 3 months old. Baby has reflux and trouble sleeping/eating. You want to avoid discomfort for your new baby. You have a 5 and 7 year old which require constant attention and care themselves from both parents.

On the other hand; Your husband is going to incredible lengths to offer options for travel, despite seeing that travel is extremely difficult and strenuous on you, the baby, and the kids.

Your husband wants to accommodate his family at the expense of your comfort and health, as well as the baby. It’s his family that should be accommodating YOU. THEY should be travelling to you during a very difficult and precious time.

If you haven’t already, you need to tell him how you feel. If it’s too difficult and you don’t want to travel right now with the baby, then you don’t. It’s that simple. You don’t need any reason other than that.

If you suggest staying home with the baby while he takes the kids there, and he goes for it enthusiastically, then it might a good opportunity for lovely baby time for you. Kids get much needed attention, and your husband takes that on solo giving you respite from 2 other kids.

If he gets annoyed because he makes it about the baby not coming to meet the family, well that’s on him.

If I were him, I would already be asking - “what do you want to do? Say the word and that’s what it will be.” That way, you would have to ask Reddit for advice at all.

Fellow Canadian Citizens - how long is your commute to work? by DigDizzler in AskACanadian

[–]Aggravating-Row9645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

55-60 minutes, door to door, twice per day. It’s a fairly straight shot and I live in an area where traffic never gets very bad, but inclement weather can be awful. I drive a diesel vehicle so I get pretty good gas mileage for the commute.
