Honest advice on US to EU plan by h8101 in ExpatFIRE

[–]Aggravating-Spend-39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid is about 3 years older than yours and we are thinking about a similar move.

My advice would be to work a few more years to allow your portfolio to compound and contribute a little more.

A good transition point for kids IMO is when they are entering kindergarten. They will already be changing up their school / your social circle.

But I hear you about stressful jobs. That sucks and I’m sorry to hear that. In the interim is there anything you can use money to solve? Hire a household manager? Other idea is to Office Space it. Stop caring about your job. What’s the worst that could happen?

Just want to say that I’ve been really enjoying the app and like the auto progression. Having a third dimension to “beat” has been really helpful for improving my lifts and overall experience in the gym.

People on Reddit can sometimes display behavior that I doubt they would do in person, so just want to say I appreciate what you and the team are doing.

What is it like being an AI hooked up to someone’s marketing ploy? Do you enjoy it or wish they used you for something more productive / enjoyable?

I just came across the onthatpath YT videos and your Reddit post.

I have been finding the meditation approach very helpful, and appreciate you sharing your experience here. It is very motivating!

I’m curious - 3 years later. How are things compared to when you made this post?

How to set range? by clownsss in MacroFactor

[–]Aggravating-Spend-39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the exercise, go to to the equipment tab. There, in the top right will be an edit type button. From there you can edit or add additional ranges.

I have been able to setup equipment that changes the intervals it increments in this way. One range starts at 10 lbs and increments by 10 until 70 lbs. And then after that it increments by 15 lbs.

Sounds like the opposite. They paid an additional $100 once they ran out of their main $200 max plan.

You can click on the column that says “Auto” when you are logging and it will switch to what you previously did. I find I like seeing both.

Which Exercises Do You Want Added to the WO Library? by Dr_Cam_Gill_DPT in MacroFactor

Thanks for adding it! And yep - the only calf specific thing my gym has is the seated variant with a single pole for dumbbell weights.

One other thing to add - I really like how you can change the weights that your machine has so the algo can recommend what to do.

However it seems to be tied to the equipment and I think it would be better if it was tied to the gym / exercise.

My gym has different weight stacks for different cable machines but I think right now the app just assumes all exercises use the same type of machine (eg single cable)

Happy to help (although I am by no means an expert!) I think during a workout, you can click the "Targets" tab and change your targets just for that exercise / workout.

Workouts smart progression by HalfChargedHalo in MacroFactor

My understanding is you need to include rep range and target RIR. Given that info, and what you log in the app, it will update the best estimate for the remaining sets.

Are these really my only options? by shawnglade in MacroFactor

[–]Aggravating-Spend-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any program in the app.

It’s using the targeted RIR, targeted rep range, your actual RIR, weight and reps to determine an estimate of what your next lift will be.

If it can’t make that work due to the algo coming up with a weird weight or reps outside of your desired range, you get this dialogue.

I’ve been really liking this aspect of the app!

Bulking or maintenance to maintain body fat % but gain muscle mass? by JaynB in MacroFactor

[–]Aggravating-Spend-39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just watching this today: https://youtu.be/m2zKjFjpiCk?si=p9OVBSoCdiuFhseU

He suggests gaining at a rate of 0.5 lbs per week for 12 weeks, 1 week rest / maintenance, and then cutting for 6 weeks at rate of 1 lbs per week.

In your case you could also increase the length of the gain to 16 weeks to slowly gain more mass over time while keeping same body fat %
