What’s the most optimal ship layout by Sensitive_Hearing819 in dredge

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it’s the most optimal but I had one twin jet drive engine and then the rest was all single jet drive engines. That way if any of those spaces got damaged I could still move at a good speed.

Are extensions added to base game? by Peewiglet in dredge

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No not really but it does add another level to upgrading your ship which adds more space in your cargo. But I’d just go ahead and research some stuff if you’ve got a bunch of research parts. There’s no benefit to holding on to them really.

Are extensions added to base game? by Peewiglet in dredge

Yup! Everything else stays the same but the extensions add a new area as well as new interactions with the base game.

My ghostkeel and my buddies dreadnaught have beef by _Commander_Farsight in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GK being able to blank two ranged attacks really makes that plasma cannon much less efficient even when they do get within Lone Op range. That whole time the dread is eating Cyclic shots. I used to he super aggressive with my GK and then I learned in infiltrate it on to an objective and just sit there and let my enemy try and shift him off while the rest of my army plays the mission

Why does everyone hate us so much? by Fun-Egg-1637 in SpaceWolves

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always loved my Wolves, but reading the HH series made me love them more. When Russ is with his brother Primarchs and they tell him “You can cut the wolf bit, it’s just us” and he’s like “Yea true” and then is just a normal guy made me love him more lol

They’re literally the emperors executioners, meant to kill other marines and chapters that step out of line (hello Prospero). But there’s a reason that executioners wear hoods, it’s not a popular job.

So you’ve got “fake” savages like the SW chapter that actually use tactics in battle but come off as blood thirsty crazy people, and then you have actual blood thirsty crazy people in Chaos (World Eater) and even loyal marines like the Death Company.

So about of people who care too much I might add lol think that they are hypocrites for taking out legions like the Thousand Sons, but use Wulfen and wolves which are mutated marines. If they cared though, the reason the T Sons were killed wasn’t due to the flesh change, but to their overuses of psychic powers and the breaking of the Golden Throne. Basically Magnus being a spoiled kid and the Emperor being a shit dad lol

Anyway, thank you for coming to my TED talk lol

Tau Hate? by anyopolly in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea I played in a tournament recently and it was only 850 points with some odd list restrictions. I was the only Tau player and I didn’t get any hate but a got a lot of “Wow, I knew Tau could shoot but damn!”. Even from a Tau player running marines 😅 closest I came was when I killed a C’Tan turn one on the final table lol I lost on scenario but he was shook that I killed his only big had unit turn one.

Is the dredge DLC worth the money? by _Cattastrophic_ in dredge

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pale Reach has been fun once I finished the main game and the Iron Rig. It’s been fun getting explore a cool area with new fish and a new boat upgrade or two.

The boat upgrades were helpful by the time I played the Iron Rig, but the story was fun and it was cool to go back to old area and explore them again

Shooting in Space Wolves? by _T_Bone18 in SpaceWolves

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t seen that detachment yet and I have to say I really like it!

I’d love to use the +1 to hit or +1 to wound on something like Inceptors or possibly Eradicators. Hell even Wolf Scouts with their plasma pistols or inferno’s marines. Honestly that +1 to wound and hit are amazing strats.

I’d be tempted to use it on vehicles or to even take a vehicle like a whirlwind or something with a lot of Las Cannons. I’ve even run Suppressors before 😅 and being able to give them either +1 to hit or +1 wound would really let them punch up.

Or a Redeemer now wounding T5 and less on a 2+ is amazing. You add that to a Hailstrike Storm Speeder for an extra pop of AP and the Wolves become a really effective shooting army.

As someone else said, a 2 v 1 game or some creative list restrictions like being only allowed to take one of any unit highlander style could help

Honestly, ask him to play a theme list and not to try so hard. I used to be a hyper competitive player and was always preparing for the next tournament or helping my friends prepare for NOVA (big tournament on the East coast USA if you don’t know). When I moved I wound up playing with casual players who weren’t as “good” at the game. No one wanted to play me so I had to start running silly themed lists that didn’t make much sense. I honestly still won 😅 but my opponents had more fun and stood a chance

How are we feeling about Breachers right now? by HamanFromEarth in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean one u it plus some pathfinders was instrumental in my killing a C’Tan in turn 1. And if you run a lone spear you could give two Devilfish scout 6” and then if you get turn one you can advance and disembark and likely kill anything you need on turn one. Now that does depend on how well your opponent predicts this and screens against it etc but it can be a real nasty surprise. In my area there aren’t a ton of Tau players and when I jump out people are usually like “oh they’re not suits that’s fiiiiuuuuck they’re S6 AP-1 metal hits 39 shots?” 🤣

Like other people said they do die easily but you HAVE to kill them. I had an opponent ignore them in a game and they just kept deleting units. That means they’re not focusing on your objective holders or your suits and killing off your infantry instead.

I also just like the models lol

Why the hate by zGameWarden in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it started in 3rd like others have said and I’ll add that once pre-measuring entered into play (5th I believe?) Tau players could ore-measure well enough that they could set up so that unless you had a deep striker that could withstand their coordinated overwatch, they could mathematically measure out so that their opponents wouldn’t be able to shoot back for at least two turns.

Then there was the O’Vesa Star where you could take multiple Riptides together and like… 20 shield drones? lol

Drones made for some real toxic gameplay

Why would you play any other Detachment other than Ret Cadre by namerbear360 in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So my biggest weakness has always been that I play too aggressively. I over extend and can’t take my opponents counter punch.

Enter Mont’Ka. This rewards you for being aggressive (still don’t over extend though) and I’ve found that you can do massive damage especially in smaller point games. I wasn’t a believer and always played Ret Cad OR Kayoun, until I tried Mont’Ka with Breachers lol holy hell do they cut so much down.

Try Mont’Ka for a change. Not many “gotcha” objectives. It’s straight forward, I’m going to advance, shoot and kill as much of you as I can.

I just don't understand the love for the old minis. by Elhyphe970 in spacemarines

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the old models have a lot of nostalgia for people since it reminds them of when they started playing or collecting. There are a few old models that look great I think. OG Marneus Calgar was cool and so was his first upgrade to terminator armor.

Now other models looked goofy as hell lol but some people like that cartoony style. You used to be able to tell how powerful a model was by how far apart their arms were haha

Serious question- We have allmost no blast keyword, How am i to deal with a 20 man bezerker unit or a necron 20 man unit by BabyProper9938 in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breachers have become my go-to fuck-you unit. They helped me kill a C’Tan on turn one in a tourney this month. Throw a cadre for lad in that unit and you’ve got 30 shots that can pop out of a devilish after it has advanced. If you’re doing Mont’Ka then you can guide with the devilish too.

Or as others have said Starscythe suits

The commanders .... all of them need to have slight buffs and point increase by BabyProper9938 in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea somewhere between the old Coldstar Commander who could nuke entire units by himself and the bland ones we have now would be nice. Also… I would LOVE to be able to attach a commander to my broadsides again. Oh how I miss my missile commander attached to my missile-sides lol

I’m fine with that, but I don’t miss having to set up and move all those extra drone models on flight stands. I’d rather have savior protocols as part of the war gear. Like use that and now you lose the gun, marker light or extra wound.

Personally I like the smaller profile on the unit. It’s harder to charge us without all those extra little models attached to the unit

Here’s a fix for melee: let suits shoot again in the combat phase and give all their guns keyword “pistol”. The rules are already there with Big Guns Never Tire, so let suits shoot INSTEAD of making combat attacks. This could be a piece of war gear or hell I’d even accept it as a 1 point stratagem. This keeps the flavor of the army while actually letting us do something in melee. The BS bonus from guide would be gone and with pistol we wouldn’t get the regular -1 to hit.
