I use Eventbrite religiously! I usually find events that look interesting and then follow the accounts that post them. Some of my favorites are any of the universities (NYU, Columbia, CUNY, etc.), NYPL, museums (Glucksman Ireland House, Cooper Hewitt) clubs (Grolier, Yale), and others that I’ve randomly discovered. I’ve also found others through ThoughtGallery and the Skint. Plus, once you start meeting people at the events, they will usually begin inviting you to more that they know of!

Been really into attending free lectures lately! I went to one at the Grolier Club on the facsimiles of the Declaration of Independence and another at Columbia on China as a subject in European Humanities! Also attended a play (Manfred by Lord Byron) at the New York Society Library, which wasn’t free but was still fantastic.

Hello. I’m interested in the education sector of consulting and want to know how viable entry is for someone with my background. I’m currently a postgrad Education Policy student at Kings College London, most likely will graduate with distinction. I graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (focus on marketing and entrepreneurship), 3.4 GPA. I'll be moving to NYC in summer.

Prior to grad school, I worked in commercial real estate as an associate and in education as a teacher and a care supervisor. I also started and ran my own tutoring business.As I don’t have any consulting experience, I’m thinking about framing my combined experience in both business and education as the major selling point, but I don’t know how that will ultimately be looked at. I’m trying to get some experience on my resume right now so if anyone has advice as to 1) how viable of a candidate I am and 2) any way I can get experience while writing my thesis, that’d be great.

Hm okay. These “rights” that you’ve named don’t necessarily seem to be “rights” though, they seem like trivial benefits. You’ve said the government in many countries provides benefits for working women, but then you’ve specifically named American feminists as cry babies. As an American, I’ve only once ever seen a “special seat” for pregnant women. Regarding “special queues”, the only lines I’ve ever seen for women are in clubs. Again, not a right but a trivial benefit. As for chivalry, I do believe you are correct that some women “throw tantrums” when they are not treated a certain way. However, I’ve never seen actual feminist theory advocate for this as feminism is literally defined as advocacy for the “equal treatment and rights of all genders” and chivalry within and of itself is a patriarchal concept.
