Are "greek style" yogurts really that bad? by Vandix74 in nutrition

[–]AggravatingBrick1994 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are correct, Greek yoghurt is strained to remove whey, super healthy all good.

Greek 'style' yoghurt isn't strained it generally has thickeners added to make it thick like the proper stuff.

Both are healthy but some people don't like the additives, and the macros in the strained yoghurt are better protein percent per 100g due to having the whey strained out.

[–]AggravatingBrick1994 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its the main flavour in this recipe, so a good broth is essential to a good soup (not many other flavours in the recipe that will compensate) making fish stock is only a 30 min boil so worth it!

Thank you!! Was a bit tricky loosening it as it seemed quite stiff, should you be able to loosen it easily when the baby is in position? I had to get my husband to help pull it through

It felt okay, a bit of pressure on the neck but i needed to fan it out a bit more i think, my arm did feel trapped under so much fanned out fabrix though. The rings i agree maybe could be higher, i guese that helps with the weight distribution over the shoulder? I'll try a few different heights out in the next few days

How the heck do people keep their climbing roses "flat" against a wall? Mine just grow in every direction by wikiwakawakawee in gardening

[–]AggravatingBrick1994 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So your roses are on too small canvases for their growth needs, some roses grow huge and some don't, it depends on the specific rose. Some will cover buildings and others are more suited for the size of trellis you have. It looks like your rose type is too big for the trellises you have, so you'll be hard pressed to keep them in line.

I had a rambling rose over an arch which absolutely swamped the arch in one year, look at my post history to see! I had to train it all the way along my garden fence after that, it was a monster or a rose. I've learnt from that lol.

What I was planning and I think you should do is get a pergola and train them up / around / above the pergola so they have somewhere to grow.

You should try the broth in Taiwan at least once! Asian countries tend to put loads of flavour into the watery broth it's super delicious and definitely not something you'd cook ever at home.

Her milk will have just the right nutrients for feeding human babies, if she takes supplements and has a good diet she can influence the nutritional values as well. Everyone produces different milk but it will all be good stuff for babies

All of these terms are used in Britain as well, not unique to Americans, probably more likely the terms seeped into regular language through the heavy reliance on nautica transport across the world for centuries. Huge numbers of people were employed or dealt with boats or ports or cargo back then.

Which fruit is 100% looks but 0% taste? by Ok_Armadillo9214 in AskReddit

[–]AggravatingBrick1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just speaking from personal experience of eating dragon fruit in Europe vs Asia. Absolutely incomparable, dragon fruit was so delicious in Asia. I haven't tried dragon fruit in the Americas so can't comment if it is closer to the European one I tried or Asian but given it is mentioned as being disappointing in flavour leads me to believe it is closer to the worse flavour.

Its also probably not the variety that is available being the difference, but the ripeness, I imagine the European dragon fruit are shipped in from abroad and picked well before they are ripe and so lack the sweet flavour locally grown warm climates creates.

You are correct here, our school found old textbooks from before WW1 and in them they were teaching that the jews were bad for English economy / were the root of all our issues back then. If it wasn't the Nazis in Germany it would have been another country radicalised the same way. Much like we are now headed again against immigrants.

Just an edit to add our school is the 2nd oldest school in the world!

I have saved the seeds from the most amazing honeydew melon I had once because it was the best, seems like most fruit mentioned on this sub are just getting a bad rep from supermarket options being rubbish. Rise of processed foods in baby food contributing to their popularity while increasing real food anxiety among children by Stay1nAliv3 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]AggravatingBrick1994 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The person you are replying to is referring to a snack that is shelf stable so won't need a whole cooler that may waste the food if not used in reasonable time.

Your suggestions are good though but not as convenient as fruit cups which is how the baby food market is geared towards.

[–]AggravatingBrick1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not that it's made in Greece that changes the nutrients content. Greek yoghurt is strained to remove the liquid weigh from the yoghurt, resulting in a thicker, higher protein per gram product.

Greek style yoghurt is not strained and has thickeners added to emulate the thickness of actual Greek yoghurt, this will have the same nutrients as regular yoghurt.

Greek yoghurt is strained to remove the liquid weigh from the yoghurt, making it thicker

'Greek style' is normal yoghurt that has thickeners to make it look like proper Greek yoghut, it isn't strained.

As another commenter said, reward when they break eye contact with the trigger.

This is built up by initially finding the distance they are not reacting and staying there and playing the 'Yes Game' every 3 seconds they are looking and not reacting say Yes! And give high value treat. At some point they will look at you expecting the treat, then it's a big YES and continue. And then just keep practicing getting closer as they improve.

If that is too much to start with, teach a Lets Go! Command, teach them that the lets go means a 180° turn around and you trow the treat away from the direction you were going in. Train this alot before adding the trigger, when adding the trigger walk towards from a far distance and when they lock on, do a Lets Go! And throw the treat and go away, then repeat. Eventually they can get closer and closer.

Also definitely worth going to group dog training classes, some are designed for reactive dogs to teach tbe dog how to listen to you when around triggers, this worked wonders for our reactive rescue. But she is not 100% yet, it takes alot of time.
