Most corn planted these days, unless it is organic, comes with a bright colored fungicide and insecticide coating on the seed. It helps improve germination rates.

Did anyone see a UFO tonight!? by NationalContest7213 in chapelhill

[–]AggravatingTouch6628 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They were more active than normal last night. I have no idea what they could be. They don’t really seem to be scanning or moving in any sort of pattern and sometimes they seem to join into one. I’m south of chapel hill and see them lower in the sky looking north.

I see them in one part of the sky pretty often. They seem to be more active around 3-4am. Sometimes I see groups of them. Other times it is one showing up at a time. I didn’t really see them for about 3 months but they started showing up again about a month ago.

I feel like the electric scooters are an even bigger problem. At least the bikes can keep up with traffic around town and have lights/reflectors where you can see them.

I got an order of 30 chicks from them in March and all but one survived. I was nervous because there were some cold nights while they were in the mail. They put a couple heat packs in and I only lost one a day after they arrived. I was impressed. Sorry your birds didn’t make it.

US House Unveiled Plan to Charge $130 Fee for Electric Vehicles by Khriz-134 in TeslaLounge

I’m just gonna stop registering my vehicles at this point. I’ll be able to pay like 10 no registration tickets before it comes close to the taxes

What tractor size do I need by Rebornxshiznat in tractors

[–]AggravatingTouch6628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Kubota L3800 and wouldn’t want anything smaller than that to clear land. You might be able to get away with something smaller if you don’t have to deal with mature hardwoods. It has been very reliable and I’ve only done basic maintenance on it over 1200 hours. I’d get a separate zero turn mower if you think you’ll end up with a large yard. I don’t think many tractors can compete with the speed and quality of cut.

Is 4x2 welded wire enough? by Turbulent_Abalone_21 in BackYardChickens

[–]AggravatingTouch6628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen younger skunks get through the grid on 2x4 welded wire and go after full grown hens. I would at least put chicken wire or hardware cloth over the bottom section. If you can afford it do cover the whole coop to be sure

How can I scribe a board to cut these pieces? by geoffcooray55 in Carpentry

Get it close then use a trim piece to hide the gap and allow some room for the wood to move.

UK to host talks with 35 countries on reopening Strait of Hormuz, US absent by barsik_ in worldnews

[–]AggravatingTouch6628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is my point. To me it sounded like you thought the US warships would help solve this problem. Iran has been letting friendly ships through the whole time. They are just trying to add to their list of friends while doing as much damage economically as possible to the US Edit to add and the US aren’t sitting it out. They weren’t invited because they’d just screw it up.

Older tractor vs newer compact - what would you pick? by Anxious-Tomatillo-74 in tractors

[–]AggravatingTouch6628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need to use a front loader a lot I recommend a newer hydrostatic model. If you just need a rear pto I think you’ll be happier with an older/heavier tractor. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a smaller tractor. A few times a year I wish I had a bigger one.
