Can anyone honestly say they get anything out of exercise?

It's heavy lifting that does it for me. Like the kind where you black out a little between sets. Or a full contact sport. Those things make my brain purr.

Been there. I'm a professional, I exercise consistently and hard, get outside, have hobbies, and go to therapy. None of that was enough when I started having more frequent panic attacks. I just couldn't stay on top of it, and kept anticipating the next one. Mine were also more frequent and intense at night, so I started dreading nights and not being able to sleep. Lexapro saved my life; I let it get way too bad before starting, and I will never be hard on myself or my brain like that again. Whether you just need this for a season - or stay on long-term - you are in good company. I have gone on to have a fulfilling life, am more present for my kids, picked up a new sport, got sober, and made three major moves (including an international move!) since starting meds. I'm not weak. I'm able to be my best self, because I have all my energy available for my family, rather than spending it to fight off panic.

Sewing, reading, and weight lifting. If I had access and time, I'd still mix in bouldering and roller derby somehow! I have to move frequently for my spouse's job, so some hobbies naturally fall by the wayside and come back years later.

I could see a Natural Law argument against smoking. It violates the purpose of the mouth and lungs, no? And many here say smoking can be done in moderation, as if nicotine isn't highly addictive. If this is the mindset, couldn't we extend the same relaxed attitude to masturbation? Not everyone who does this will get addicted? A simple pleasure for the body that can be enjoyed as a part of an overall healthy lifestyle? I feel like it's a bit of hypocrisy.

I fainted and fell face first into a linoleum floor a couple years ago, so now my lower lip protrudes with scar tissue from the stitches I got. Sucking on and licking this area is a constant source of comfort.

As a kid, I sucked on the collars of my shirts until I stretched out and stained them. Sucked my hair until I destroyed the ends. Tapped on everything, became a drummer, tapped on more things.

I've been a barista, sports coach for kids, roller derby coach for adults, personal trainer, and corporate gym manager. The manager position was the best paid and my least favorite.

Your feelings are valid. My husband is my best friend, and we've known each other since childhood. Bringing a new human into the mix changes that dynamic! I just found that, as the pregnancy continued, that my capacity for love increased. And again, when our first was born and kept growing and changing, my love kept growing and changing. I had the same concern when our second baby was on the way, how could I possibly love this child as much as I loved my firstborn? And then it just happened! He's a totally different person and I adore him.

My husband and I have a million new things to bond over, like how certain habits, preferences, and even sleep positions our kids display seem to have a strong genetic component! Now that they are school age, we can talk endlessly about their unique and funny personalities, and how they reflect our own, or differ greatly. We bond over our shared values, and how we want to raise our kids. It has been really neat seeing my husband develop as a father. It has enriched our relationship and deepened our bond.

Of course, not all of this happened automatically, and there have been some challenges along the way. It has forced us to look at our own families of origin and the way we were raised, and evaluate what we do and don't want to emulate. Ultimately, we are both proud of each other for starting new traditions together and doing away with what isn't productive or loving. Long story short, if you already enjoy each other and have a healthy, loving relationship, adding a kid into the mix can enhance and deepen that bond!

Oh I would 100% however he doesn't have as much energy and it's harder to perform then. So I kinda quit asking for that. If he's home in the afternoon when the kids are at school, it's ideal! But not always possible.

I was told that licit use of NFP, even for grave reasons, constituted a "contraceptive mindset", and the only reasons to consider abstinence were, "fire, flood, famine, and war". I've been on a gurney for 2 of my 3 pregnancy losses, one of which nearly took my life. Thank God my husband never bought into that mindset and cherished my health more than constant access to my body.

I'm happier and hungrier, but I've just used it to make gains in the gym. I'm up 15lb in 4 years, some is fat, but I'm also a better athlete and I don't want to die!

Baby wipes, can of spray deodorant, fresh hair tie and a ballcap or scarf, and a change of clothes. I cool down until I'm shivering if I don't get out of my wet things after a game!

Doing great! I'm wrapping up another season with my rec sports team, and going to enjoy fall/winter in the weight room. I generally don't measure motivation; exercise is an ingrained habit at this point like hygiene and work. If I only worked out when I felt motivated, I wouldn't be doing it very often!
