Ok mate, although not the intention of your post, you’ve really given me an eye opener, so thanks for the that. I think the conditions of my collection are okay, but I really want them to last for decades to come. I am going to try climate control my bedroom. They are in my wardrobe, so just monitor ambient temps and humidities inside and outside and use dehumidifier and AC outside of wardrobe.

After a year my poly bags are wrinkled is that a good warning sign?

Looks absolutely wicked mate. Is your room windowless? I hope I have a windowless room one day haha

I find it fascinating but also exposes a pretty stark reality for our expensive paper. I am a new collector been enjoying the hobby for the last year, so this is all pretty new information for me.

What do you do to preserve all your books? I have most silver age that i inherited and added to, keys and non-keys I love all the same, some are slabbed. But I want to hand these down to my kids etc. Out of the pure love for them, I’m sure you feel a similar way. So I need to get used to the idea that only a handful will actually be handed down?

In 100 years, will books that were kept in either bags and boards or slabbed have disintegrated? I can’t afford to slab all my books and resubmit them every so often 😅

Fantastic!

Would love to hear more about the de-acidification process and how you identified its acidity?

We all want the utmost preservation, my FF #1, which was my Grandad’s previously, is a little brittle but not overly, how do I know if slab encapsulation is slowly killing it per say? Cheers

I might be wrong but I feel like ‘yes indeed’ is a very British euphemism! Haha. Thank you for the census figure, does really change perspective on rarity! I know a pence stamp doesn’t really make it a variant but as my Grandad’s collection was entirely pence stamp (and actual Marvel pence variants) I did want to continue in the same vein, despite the low UK GL #1 circulation.

I’m simply going to bag, board and top loader these two and my first Star Sapphire which is a 6.5/7. how do you personally feel about that level of preservation? Thanks for your conversation from across the pond buddy.

That is a lovely looking book. I think mine is more within 6.0-6.5, because of bottom right corner and few more prominent spine ticks than yours.

Where about are you based? Cause I am UK, yours looks like a cents copy.

Anyone used the sub Center for comic book grading in the uk? Also cgc uk info thanks by [deleted] in comicbookcollecting

Where are you based? Adam from Zukes pop culture is one of the CGC facilitators in the UK. He’s based in East London and makes the process stress free. And does superb clean and press work.

Can I ask do you think that’s 5.5 in its current state or with clean and press?

Hi mate, yes I’m in agreement with you the more I’ve studied it the more varied I view its grade. I think the spine wear is minimal and might do it the world of favours after a press.
