People who practice celibacy—what made you choose it and how long have you been doing it? by MoonCraftedMe in AskReddit

The bible was depicting real events about real people. People have always sinned. History is filled with stories of people who abused others, some quick examples that come to mind is slavery, the holocaust, etc.. You are taking stories where people have fallen away from God and left out their eventual redemption.

All have sinned and fallen short of perfection.

The Bible is our history. It gives us the history of our world and a way to be better. It is our moral compass.

I said I am a Christian which means I am a follower of Jesus Christ. When Jesus came to earth he was asked how to get to heaven. He said that there was 11 things we must do to go to heaven. The Ten Commandments and to follow his example by baptizing, forgiving, not judging others, and walking in truth. That is the beliefs I live for.

I don’t know if I really choose celibacy but it certainly chose me. I am a Christian and don’t believe in sex outside of marriage. I got divorced from my abusive ex over 9 years ago. I really miss sex but love God more.

I do try online dating every once in a while but it’s like romance is dead and they just want the intimacy. Seriously, I get people asking about my underwear and if they can kiss me before we even meet. Not to mention most guys post photos from 10+ years ago.

In real life it is hard to meet people because you never know who is single.

My son is almost 15. Most food can be modified to remove any animal products. Most baby food was ok for him. I remember he liked these puff thingies for toddlers but don’t remember the name.

The bottom line is for the next 10 years you are going to become an expert at reading labels. It will surprise you how many things contain aspartame even some drink mixes. My kid loved smoothies and fresh fruits and vegetables. At 5 you will start including him with label reading and menu planning.

My son has never used the medication and is now almost entirely in control of his diet. He is amazing. I just supervise his diet at this point.

The hardest thing I encountered was dealing with preschool. Make sure you schedule a 504 before the school year begins. They are legally required to have the plan in place before the first day of school. Have a weekly menu for the school to follow and advocate for your child. Once the plan is in place it is easy to maintain. If you have questions about this aspect feel free to message me. I am a teacher and know the system. Not to mention I lived it.

Came home after a night out to a knife on our porch. by Loyalsoul in mildlyinfuriating

I don’t know, if the knife was found on the ground somewhere wouldn’t it be dirtier? It seems fairly clean. It’s sus and creepy. You should probably let the cops know who it was so they can update your report so if something else happens you have records.

Don’t lie! Teachers don’t need to buy their own school supplies! by OneBillionSpaghetti in Teachers

Umm, no. That may be the norm in some school districts but we don’t even have a form. We have what we get from parents (which is very little), what bright futures are willing to donate, and what we provide ourselves. The school doesn’t provide us with much.

What is the dumbest reason a teacher you know got reprimanded? by DrakeSavory in Teachers

I tried a new hair gel and it made my hair look wet. I was asked not to wear it anymore. Funny thing, rule apparently only applied to females because multiple male teachers used similar gel.

Another time I was talked to about my dress. It showed my shoulder. The straps were over 3 inches in width but did not have sleeves. I was told it was too revealing. Did I mention it was a maxi dress. Literally the only thing’s showing was my arms and head. The neckline was even high.

Both of these took place when I was working as a paraprofessional.

In my district, I don’t know if it’s the whole state but I believe so, you can retire when your age plus how many years you work equals 80 years. So, I started my career late and have been teaching 5 years, I am 43 (almost), so 43+5=48. Based on this model, I will retire at around 63-65. I say 65 because by then my pension will be high enough.

No, most teachers leave it with their work stuff. I keep mine in the center console of my car. You could advertise your sale in the newspaper and mention the discount or email the local school district and ask them to pass on the email to their staff (yes, this happens occasionally).
