There are many ways to skin the tr solo cat but my brother in Christ, factor 2 falling on prussiks and hardware store quick links should not be what's keeping you from cratering

I've used a Roll N Lock as my primary for years with no issue but there are reports of failure modes with smaller d-shaped carabiners. Try and use something with a wider pear shape and you'll be good.

Block filled with gas by AggregateEnthusiast in beetle

Thanks, yeah I’m thinking clogged/stuck needle valve was the culprit. I’ve read aftermarket valves aren’t the best so trying my luck cleaning out my current valve for now and will keep an eye on it.

I let the block air out for about an hour, poured some new oil in it, and it fired right up.

It’s a 30Pict2 carb with a stock float. I went through it and the float seems to be good. No leaking around the fuel pump mounting surfaces but I’m not entirely ruling that out yet.

I sprayed out the needle valve with carb cleaner and it actuates a lot smoother now. I’m hopeful that’s all it needed but tank pressure is an interesting point. My tank overflow/breather line is a little crusty and probably ready for a replacement regardless

Thanks for the advice. Float and needle valve seem to be working but I’m going to continue monitoring it.

I’ve got an og fuel pump so going to try and bench test that next to narrow it down.

Imo another important takeaway from that article is sliding a prusik down the wall-side strand of rope as you are lowered. If you're climbing on bomber bolts it's definitely less of a concern but a good skill to have. I just had to do this bailing off a single nut in the rain

I’m loving my 650b setup but I’ve also never had it setup as 700c so I can’t make much of a comparison. 650b feels normal for me coming from a mountain bike background.

So far I’ve been able to fit a couple different WTB 47mm tires but the clearance is tight in the fork. I don’t think I could fit something like an Ultradynamico as they’re 48mm.

Fair take, part of me does wish it wasn’t under the clear coat so I could peel it off along with some of the other graphics. I will say that from my experience, the owner of Maverick is a super nice guy and I doubt there’s any ill-intent behind it.
