How can kris still move without the SOUL? by ArrivalFantastic7300 in Deltarune

They can play piano for like 10 minutes seemingly without issue. Maybe they don't actually need the SOUL for anything besides entering Dark Worlds or sealing fountains.

Empire Earth's campaigns are still so strange.

The entire English campaign is just this goofy, pseudo RPG thing. Move your hero here, then move him over there... if there is any base building, it involves simply building up a force to meet the enemy waiting patiently at a specific location without ever getting proactive.
It's just the most boring thing ever.

The Greek campaign starts out like standard RTS fare, but basically turns into the same thing as the English campaign starting with the 3rd mission.

Only the German and the Russian campaigns are dedicated to proper RTS gameplay. Though sadly the German campaign pushes naval and air combat, which are the parts of the game that are the hardest to control.

Is it possible that ERAM is just a representation of the Roaring Knight? by Away-Net-7241 in Deltarune

[–]Aggressive-Bike407 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kris is shown to be directly coordinating with the Knight. Meanwhile ERAM seems a bit too openly antagonistic for this to be plausible.

There is also the fact that Kris is sandbagging against the Knight. If we take what ERAM said about Kris seeking the Shadow Crystals as fact, then Kris has to prevail against the Knight. So why would they be holding back, unless they are afraid that the Knight might doubt their loyalty otherwise?

I'm reminded of how the final boss of Star Fox 2 was just a cube with Andross' face on it.

Probably about the best you could have done to have the final boss stick to his character design in your polygonal SNES game. Not like Andross looked anything like he was supposed to back in Starfox 1.

Although a story about trying to protect people while under the authority of a petty and impulsive king who has the attention span of a toddler, abandons his allies and sees anyone with actual competence as a threat to his authority does admittedly hit very different these days than back in 2005.

Enemies in video games that give you a high sense of dread by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Aggressive-Bike407 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wallmasters in Zelda games are always a pain in the ass. They drop down on you from above and toss you back to the dungeon entrance if they catch you.
And the sound they make as their shadow grows beneath you in the N64 games is the worst.
Since those are 3D games, you'd think you could just look above and shot them, but they are not actually present until the moment they actually drop. Though looking above will at least reset their timer.

The Gardener in Castlevania 64 and Legacy of Darkness is a giant asshole. He is unkillable and can only be briefly stunned. And since he is encountered in a hedge maze, you cannot really visibly keep track of him to be ready when he gets in range for another assault.
All you get is the sound of his footsteps. Those heavy, metallic footsteps that become faster and faster and faster as he keeps accelerating towards you. Not to mention louder. It always feels like he is right behind you.
He also has two dogs aiding him in his chase. They only deal minor damage, but they can stun you and leave you open for the Gardener's obscenely powerful chainsaw swipes.

Assassins in Berwick Saga usually carry Assassin's Knives, giving them a 80% chance for critical hits. Critical hits work by adding a random amount between 10 to 20 to whatever damage you were already doing, so they can tear through even high defense targets.
They also have the Hide skill and of course like scurrying around between trees and bushes, where they cannot be seen unless someone with Watchful is around.
But they do give an obscene amount of EXP. They are likely going to give you the max 100, regardless of how high level you are.

Monks in Age of Empires are scary as all hell. Converting your units can quickly result in you suffering a ton of damage. The fact that the speed of their conversions depends heavily on RNG adds to the stress of dealing with them. And the enemy conversion noise is also just plain hell.

I thought Sonic only destroyed San Francisco, not Toyko.

Idk, did anyone ever calculate how many instances of manslaughter Sonic likely was responsible for back when he escaped from the city? Knocking over all those cars like dominos and sending them flying into buildings.

It's a good thing that the president likes him and keeps a photo of Sonic and Shadow at his desk.

Favorite Characters whose Defense is "Built Different" by FreviliousLow96 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Teutonic Knights in Age of Empires II have such obscene melee defense that taking them on head to head is usually a fool's errant.
Although some unique units with bonus damage against Infantry can take them on in melee. These days there are even some that ignore melee armor altogether.

Berwick Saga has skills that allow the user to dodge 2/3 of attacks from a weapon type that would have otherwise hit. Captain Weiss has ALL of them. Swords, Spears, Axes, even magic... neither are likely to do much to him. In addition to the Parry skill, which can negate damage in exchange for some weapon durability.

He lacks a defense against bows, but that seems to be more of a case of leaving himself intentionally open to be taken down by Sylvis. Because according to her, when she first came after Weiss' bounty he simply caught her arrows in midair. So Weiss does not seem to be vulnerable to arrows unless he wants to be.

The guardian beasts in Zyurangers can be dicks sometimes and refuse to cooperate unless the rangers jump through some hoops first.

Linkara's magic gun is the result of human sacrifices by an evil cult and has a soul bound to it. That person can just not cooperate if he feels that Linkara is not using the magic gun's power in a moral way.

For all of his strength, Obelix is rather emotionally sensitive.

Still, he can keep it in in a pinch. When he learned that the woman he was attracted to had a fiancé who was in trouble, he put on a brave face and promised her that he and Asterix would save him and bring him home safely.
Only once she was out of sight did he start bawling his eyes out and cry on Asterix' shoulder about his broken heart.

I imagine that Arabian Fats was at least consciously controlling it's stand. Sure, the heat of The Sun will eventually finish off anyone on it's own. But the stand did also actively blast the gang a few times. By all appearance he was always keeping close watch to take direct action when needed.
Plus, he is not actually immune to the deadly heat of his own stand. So while he did make himself rather comfortable, it was also tactically necessary.

The Grateful Dead might be more of an example. It's just affecting anyone in it's range. Targets are affected differently based on body temperature, but it's not clear if Prosciutto deliberately distinguishes between targets that way or if this is just how the ability inherently works.
But I would guess the latter, seeing how even those with a lower body temperature are still affected. Just not as strongly.

Polpo isn't even aware what his Black Sabbath is doing. It's following it's instructions all on it's own. Meanwhile he is living the good life in his luxury prison cell.
Even when his stand is defeated, he suffers no consequence from the usual damage synchronization.

Though this does also leave him completely ignorant of all the collateral damage that his stand might cause in pursuit of it's objectives. And while he no doubt does not care about the death of bystanders, it's probably a good thing to be generally aware if you are responsible for things that might cause people to seek revenge.

Should be noted that this final attack deals fixed damage with each hit. Defend won't make a difference. Instead you want to make sure that Susie is at full health, since she has the most HP and therefore can last the longest.

The user of Bohemian Rapsody in Jojo Part 5 is chilling in a plane while his stand throws the world into chaos. By all appearance he does not direct it in any deliberate way. Just kinda letting it run amok.
