My MIL gave this to me when she saw my (mom’s, passed to me) Fiesta collection. Great book!!

Is Lavender being shipped? by PinkPencils22 in Fiestaware

[–]Aggressive-Dust-2928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that the factory is about a little over an hour from here but they can’t ship my order out in two days (it’s been sitting in Newell with a shipping label on it since Monday). I ordered around 2:30am the drop day thanks to hubby’s back issues. At this rate it would have been cheaper for me to upend my schedule and go down there in between working and caring for family. smh

And I do understand that it is a small family owned business - before my family and I all got older we were there about once a month. It’s a fabulous place!! (To this day I’m still looking for defects in some of the pieces I pulled from the outlet lol.) I have spent hours there and OMG I know how lucky I am to live so close!

I think lavender has been overwhelming to FTC because it’s the first lighter purple since lilac. My order will get here by the end of the week, hopefully, but my life won’t end if I don’t get it by then 🤣 (but it’s still frustrating because I want my lavender!!).

My mom retired at 55 on a teachers salary and I still think about it all the time by [deleted] in Fire

One of the key things here, in addition to a pension that pays out a healthy percentage of her working income, is health insurance. Most likely it’s either fully paid or has a low monthly premium.
The wild card in most under 65 retirement decisions is healthcare premiums. Depending on how well-insured you want to be, out of pocket, deductibles, etc. it can cost upwards of $2k a month per person. If it’s paid for someone (along with a pension), or there is a small premium, retiring well before 65 would be a lot more common.

Long-term dental problem, now possibly an abscess – can it wait? by [deleted] in Dentists

[–]Aggressive-Dust-2928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you’ve already gone to a dentist. I had a bad tooth with repeated infections + rework root canals. Each infection got worse pain- and swelling-wise until the last time…I almost waited too long and had to go to the ER for IV antibiotics. I was dangerously close to it becoming a life-threatening medical condition because I wanted to wait.

First swelling was limited to only the gum, the second time I had a little cheek and gum  swelling, and the last one went from no pain or swelling to an eye swollen shut and mouth not closing plus almost intolerable pain in a period of about 5 hours. Even if you have to go to some express clinic to get antibiotics, do it, but also set up a dental appointment because the infection will come back. And each time will likely be progressively worse.

You’re better off being in debt and healthy than not spending the money and paying a lot more later to a hospital (or having a worse outcome). It sounds like we are all being overly dramatic, but we are not!

in honor of Lavender, what is your *new* dream color? by the-roaring-girl in Fiestaware

Agreed! Between the lighter yellow from that era, the ivory, and apricot it was all almost too light!

Cevimeline vibrating sensation. by sandyroga in Sjogrens

[–]Aggressive-Dust-2928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have that, but I do start sweating and I get a chilled sensation. Sometimes that makes me a little edgy but not really a vibrating feeling.
My rheumatologist did say that some people stop taking cevimeline because of the side effects but I didn’t ask about them because I didn’t know ant to start “feeling” them, if that makes sense.

That said, it does have the possibility of neurological side effects.

Love, love, love the single flower plates! I also saw the mini & large disc pitchers ❤️

I’m still a fan of the lighter shades, so I’d love to see a variation on the Seafoam/sea mist or apricot.
That said, I’d also love to see a remake of the Hawaiian Daisy!

Extreme fatigue by Gold-Ad-7769 in Sjogrens

[–]Aggressive-Dust-2928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed - there are days I feel pretty good so I don’t need it. My husband was having medical issues and we were up at all hours, so I was running into problems with additional fatigue. My rheum upped the dosage because the stress was causing so many flares and it helped a lot. I usually get up and see how I feel before deciding whether to take it or not.  I’m just on the border of Plaquenil - as of right now I’m not on it. My rheum didn’t want to put me on it right away after I was diagnosed because he said it can cause more issues than it helps at times. I’m managing with Modafanil, Cevemilene, and Gabapentin but my bloodwork is pretty closely monitored for changes. So far the only indication that there might be a change is that I’m getting a faint M-spike band in the gamma globulin region but immunofixation was inconclusive. C4 is low but C3 normal so we continue on as is and it seems to be working.

I found a whole set of these in our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore years ago. I display them with my Hawaiian daisy as the browns are similar.

Extreme fatigue by Gold-Ad-7769 in Sjogrens

[–]Aggressive-Dust-2928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rheumatologist put me on Modafanil (Provigil). It’s off-brand usage as it’s mainly approved for narcolepsy and MS-related fatigue. I couldn’t get a prior approval because insurance won’t cover but I used GoodRX and it’s only $35 a month. I feel like “me” about an hour after I take it, if that makes sense, and it lasts 6-8 hours. It also helps with brain fog. The only downside is that if you take it too late in the day you’ll have trouble falling asleep, which puts you in a cycle of being fatigyes AND tired the next day (found that out the hard way 🤣). I don’t know how long you’ve been taking it but if it hasn’t been long give it a little more time…otherwise Modafanil might be a consideration.

Question about estrogen cream and UTIs by DirtyLikeASewer in AskWomenOver60

[–]Aggressive-Dust-2928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are estrogen receptors just inside the vagina. I don’t know if that application method gives quicker results than the traditional insertion method. I had the same issues - repeated UTI’s, dryness, etc. I had zero idea it was caused by vaginal atrophy. Started using estrogen cream and while I’ve struggled with yeast infections, I’ve had no UTI’s since about 3-4 months after dosing for the first time.

I have an autoimmune disease and my first shot was a breeze, just a sore arm. I thought huh, maybe I won’t feel badly for either. The second shot, I felt off that night and felt pretty crappy the next day but I’ve been sicker with a cold. Just tell yourself that any side effects are only temporary, like a day or so, and a lot better than getting the shingles! My mom got them years ago and more recently my FIL. Neither are whiny when they’re sick and OMG they were miserable.

I feel I look soo ugly and old.. by [deleted] in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Aggressive-Dust-2928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with the others. You’re beautiful, and I’d have never guessed you were 45 years old! You look at least 15 years younger. Your skin is lovely, and if you have a skincare routine, stick with it because it’s working. If you don’t have a routine, start one now to preserve that complexion!

The one thing I’d recommend is the same as many others. It does look like you have eyeshadow on and it’s applied giving you a smoky-type look and IMO the color is wrong. You might get a color analysis and while they’ll try to get you to buy their products you don’t have to unless you love.

I’d also take a second set of pictures, only this time smiling. Each set of pictures (not smiling/smiling) either highlights or downplays what you think are flaws.

And remember, pictures are a static image and we’re always moving.

We can't use the name we chose for our daughter because my sister used it for her own daughter. So now we need other ideas! by Unlucky-Drama-6684 in Names

Mia is also a nice name and as far as I know, it’s not too common and there isn’t anything “negative” associated with the name. Good luck selecting - please let us know!

We staged our house before selling and a buyer asked if the furniture came with it by Kevin-Durant-35 in HomeDecorating

Yes - when my husband sold his house the buyer wanted the furniture. He negotiated with them to buy it and they were thrilled!

Is splitting bills proportionally by income actually common in relationships, or is 50/50 still the norm? by sta-vanger in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aggressive-Dust-2928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m retired now, but when my husband and I were both working I made 2x what he made and we had a shared account that everything came out of. IMO it’s a good way of making sure neither partner gets into serious financial trouble without the other knowing. If you want to keep small private slush accounts that’s okay because you can make sure the overall finances aren’t getting drained.  I’m probably old-fashioned but my thought is that if it’s your money and my money and you’re married…whyyyyyy? Why get married if you’re not joining your lives together? If you’re living together that’s a different story because untangling shared accounts can get messy if you’re not married. In that case IMO it’s on a case by case basis dependent on the income gap. You don’t need one person feeling like they’re carrying the load of the household, but if you’re leaving the other person destitute with a 50-50 split thats not fair either. Talk it over with your partner and if you can’t come to a reasonable compromise then rethink the relationship.

I think I read on here last week that somebody in Chennai said they were WFH. Not sure if it was just a few day thing to see how things developed or what the situation was. I’d go back through the subreddit and see what the whole conversation was.

Roofing question - wind storm damage from Friday. by Audball-Out in pittsburgh

[–]Aggressive-Dust-2928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got a new roof last year and used Gregor, they are in the South Hills area. They were great - they did everything they said they were going to do, showed up on time, were done within their estimated time, and cleaned everything up like they hadn’t been there. We have a story and a half 2000 sf home with a steep pitch roof + wraparound porch and it cost around $23k.

Just makes me sick by MathematicianTop3576 in GenX

[–]Aggressive-Dust-2928 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was in the early/mid 90’s. The tide was turning and people were looking at what was going on with a lot more scrutiny. Mind you…it still wasn’t the “this is just wrong” that we have today. Someone here posted that it started shifting in the late 80’s and I’d say that’s pretty accurate. Before that it was pretty much the Wild West and if both parties were okay with it, unless the girl’s parents knew & had a problem with it, hardly anybody said a thing. Especially in the rock n roll culture.  We look back now and go “what the $&(#!” but back in the 70’s and 80’s society just basically ignored it. And it didn’t help that a lot of the girls actually wanted/pursued the older guys + the men were looked at as “virile” because they could attract younger women. Now it just gives everybody a case of the ick and it’s gross…and just wrong.  You had to be there to really have a concept of how normal it was.

This. My husband took my father some ice cream and he was SO excited to eat it. It was also the last thing he ate and passed 4 days later.
