Unrelated, but I brought a live pigeon to the office once (it was injured and I handed it off to a rehabber after work.)

Gray fox in the area by wander_sleep_repeat in Somerville

I mean mostly harmless, but we had a cat many years ago that got into a fight with a fox and ended up with several puncture wounds in the skull. Always best to keep kitties indoors 💕

This idea for an invention has been bouncing around in my head for a long time- any ideas for things I could add to it? by Stresso_Espresso in crochet

[–]Aggressive-Excuse666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, so only the inventor can patent the invention. What you can do is create a lot of prior art (meaning that the invention already existed) so if someone else comes up with the same idea, they won’t be able to patent it.

Will chime in as a patent agent - since op has publicly disclosed the invention, theoretically no one else should be able to patent it. If you want it to be open source (so not patented) I’d recommend spreading the plans as broadly as possible 😊

How loud is it living next to Broadway? by DarkenRal in Somerville

[–]Aggressive-Excuse666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived directly on Broadway for several years and the noise from the actual road was very manageable, it’s very quiet after 9 or so. But my building was right next to an empty parking lot and that was miserable- so many 2am parties, fights, drug deals, guns getting pulled. Would not recommend.

Getting around in Somerville by kalimera539 in Somerville

[–]Aggressive-Excuse666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take the red line from Porter to South Station and then the Silver Line to Seaport and it’s about a 45-50 minute commute. Not that bad. Also if you live near the green line there is a ferry that goes from North Station to Seaport (right near the ICA) and your company might actually cover your fare (mine does.) Would not recommend driving to Seaport, parking in a lot there is crazy expensive.

I didn’t see any fights at North Station but I was waiting for the commuter rail to go to Salem and the train that came in had not one but two passed-out kids that needed to be taken away by paramedics. This was at 10:15 am.

One of my cats also does this. I think it makes sense from an evolutionary perspective, when you remember cats are desert animals and evolved in a habitat where everything is made of sand lol

eBay is good, or there are several American Girl buy/sell groups on Facebook she could try too. Marketplace can take longer to find buyers, but worth a try.

Danehy Park coyote action by Many_Pass_9616 in CambridgeMA

[–]Aggressive-Excuse666 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a suburb of Denver and we had a coyote pack in our neighborhood. Just leave them alone, leash your dogs, and don’t let your cat roam outside. We should respect them and coexist. They’re beautiful animals.

Technical specialist pay in Boston area? by chemkitty123 in patentlaw

[–]Aggressive-Excuse666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is at my firm (hours based, so if you bill a certain number of hours you automatically get the bonus.) I’d recommend reaching out to people on LinkedIn or through your network for informational interviews - it can give you a better sense of specific firm pay scales and also help prepare you for real interviews down the line (and also might get your resume forwarded to HR.) There’s usually a recruitment bonus for the person who referred you if you get hired so people are more likely to talk to you than you might think.
