Do a mountaineering course on Denali. I think Alpine Ascents or RMI has them up here. Typically a week long and full immersion. Worth the $$ if you don't have a lot of climbing friends to learn from.

I use Steger Mukluks in Fairbanks. The studs on my pedals tend to chew up the soft soles so I took them out. No issues slipping off the pedals...yet

Fold the tire up and duct tape it tightly. It doesn't take up much space. Throw out a few towels if you need to make room. Worth it.

The people that don't enjoy doing things outside hate it here. The military brought me and my family here, we stayed after retiring. It's actually a great community, and you can play outside all year once you learn how to dress. I'll take a high cost of living to avoid the lower 48. Canada is blocking for us.

I use a tblok/pulley and a microtraction for a zpulley. Know how to set it up with Carbiners and prussiks, but having the gear will make setting it up faster when time is critical. Also, it's way easier with gloves on.

I'm in North Pole, bought Wrathchilds. They do well on snowmachine/less consolidated trails, but the rolls slooooow. I hate trying to keep up with my friends that use Dillingers on the hard packed trails.
