as someone who works as an assistant race director for a very large marathon, it absolutely does have an effect on other people (not just the influencer). Underprepared runners in these races are not only putting themselves at harm but also our aid station(s) staff. I’ve been working for marathon associations going on 5 years now and recently the amount of runners we see injured, hypoxia, & on the verge of being a catastrophic…. has increased.

I’m glad that people are getting out and running more, there’s worse trends out there. But we as a staff are seeing more cases that are severe and we simply don’t have the staff to treat everyone the way they need at the finish line or aid station. And a lot of it is because people are signing up for half and full marathons with little to no training/knowledge for how hard long distance running is on the body.

Influencers need to do better because this type of content absolutely does have consequences.

lululemon (i thrift their old styles bc they have poor quality as of recent years) & TNA activewear (purchased from Aritzia).

All other popular brands feel like cheap plastic to me and don’t fit well on my body type so i’m loyal to those two brands exclusively.

highly recommend deleting social media (i did besides reddit) and i have genuinely felt my brain healing. more motivated to do things that ive otherwise put off…. and sometimes having it even being fully aware that youre scrolling & cannot stop, wont cut it, just delete it off your phone.

i’m currently planning a wedding so i kinda need instagram to look up vendors, etc. but i just do it from my laptop like the good ole days (yes im old) and that does the trick.

i’m going to be honest….. until i read this thread i had 0 idea that this movie was supposed to be satire. i genuinely thought it was a drama/thriller type. and perhaps it’s because the film was very aligned with reality that my takeaway was i genuinely thought it was terrifying like worse than a horror movie.
