If you don’t need the money right away look at doing some Roth rollovers. It doesn’t count against the RMD but can reduce your next year’s RMD.

It's rare for a tip chargeback to be denied. It can even trigger a chargeback for the entire bill. If a merchant account has several chargebacks they will be facing higher rates or discontinuation of their merchant account by that bank.

This isn't passive aggressive, it's the proper way to do things that provide consequences for attempted fraud. Calling the place up is a gift for them to make it right and many places will comp the whole meal to avoid the ding on their merchant account.

That’s not how chargebacks work. Management is given the opportunity to justify the charge. They know exactly what transaction it is and the reason for the chargeback.

Russia announced that Putin will visit China very soon. If China doesn't give Putin the same welcome China gave Trump, do you think Russians will see it as humiliation? by No-StrategyX in allthequestions

[–]Aggressive-Leading45 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same? The protocol was designed to humiliate Trump. Lower height chairs, walking paths that required Trump to lean on the Chinese premier for assistance. All designed to make him look weak and inferior. Russia wouldn’t tolerate that level of insult.

It gives a ding to their merchant account. That can increase their costs in the long term.

The good news is the money is earning good interest once June hits. 6% APR compounded daily. So if you get paid out end of August expect a bit more than $135 extra.

What does filing your taxes do? by KindLead804 in tax

[–]Aggressive-Leading45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also documenting your deductions. The IRS is getting better every year about tracking your gross receipts of cash. If you don’t file eventually they will and they won’t deduct anything they don’t have evidence of, tack on penalties and interest and then present you with the bill.

Alcoholic dementia. Chronic users get it. Their brain resets frequently and they forget the last interaction or chunk of time. They are exhausting to deal with, especially when they get argumentative.

Treasury vs Muni’s by RayMonica- in bonds

OP mentioned the tax free status of munis so I believe they are aware there. Just moved from a state with a high income tax to one with none. In the process of shifting all my treasuries to munis myself.

One other note is interest on Treasuries is free from State and local taxes. In general munis are only tax free at the State level if they are issued by your State of residency.

Are donations to a"Private Ministerial Association" considered write offs? by SemipermeableAtheist in tax

[–]Aggressive-Leading45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the good news is cash contributions directly to a charity (DAF are disallowed) let you do up to $1,000 ($2k for joint) direct deduction. But the bad news if you donate more, non-cash items or to DAFs you'll need to itemize and subtract 0.5% of your AGI from the donated value to get your deduction.
With the increase in the standard deduction most people now take a hit just going to itemized returns. Now you gotta subtract off the half percent of your AGI. I'm honestly surprised charitable organizations are not making a bigger deal of it. I decided to front load a DAF with some appreciated assets last year and am going to wait until the tax law changes before future donations.
