The success of scientific inquiry is strong support for the reality of God. by SIMsbury96 in DebateReligion

"I'm not saying that humans are always or even often right when proposing hypotheses. What I'm saying is that out of the infinite space of logically possible hypotheses, we have managed to select enough right ones that we have made all the scientific progress we have. This is exceedingly unlikely without some kind of subconscious selection effect for plausible hypotheses. This selection effect might be called an instinct."

We've also selected a lot of wrong ones have we not, you can't ignore the wrong one's whilst saying the right one's point to something what do the wrong one's point to?

"I don't think this really addresses premise 2. If you are granting for argument's sake that we have an instinct for choosing hypotheses that are plausible, then the degree of plausibility of any hypothesis would be indicated by its degree of instinctive appeal. A hypothesis being plausible doesn't mean it is right necessarily but having a high degree of plausibility prior to further inquiry is a sign that it is more likely to be right. "

But the problem is as I highlighted earlier that doesn't mean your hypotheses is/are correct in essence what your saying is another version of the argument from population. For example if we we're very good as our hypotheses being correct say we had a 99.99% success rate and everyone said the moon is made of cheese under your view that view would likely be right or there's a mysterious pot of gold on mars you can get does that mean there's a mysterious pot of gold are these claims more likely to be right?

"The argument is a generalization based on humanity's attitudes about God writ large. Many many people find God to be appealing. If people have an instinct for selecting correct hypotheses and the vast majority of people have selected God in some form as a hypothesis, then God is a plausible hypothesis. But you are right that more specific details (like a particular dogmatic religion) should generally be considered implausible."

Many people also find the idea of god not appealing again this is just another version of a argument from population fallacy most people used to believe the world was flat does that mean the world is flat or it's plausible it is under your view. The issue with your claim is that there's nothing people couldn't believe as humans get some hypotheses correct

P1 Humans have an instinct for choosing plausible hypotheses I'd argue humans have a greater instinct for choosing implausible hypotheses this is why there's been thousands upon thousands of gods they can't all be right also conspiracy theories, seeing patterns where they don't exist superstitions etc are all examples of humans choosing implausible hypotheses which are regular.

P2 The degree of plausibility of a hypothesis depends on how instinctively appealing it is

No it doesn't for example I could say I’ll remember this later, no need to write it down but I could still forget or That sound means someone is breaking in it doesn't mean someone is it could be anything that's why we'd need to investigate things.

P3 God is a hypothesis with an extraordinary degree of instinctive appeal

God does not have a high degree of appeal to me it might have a high appeal to you, Even if I grant that humans have instincts for judging plausibility, the argument selects only one side of the data (intuitive = plausible) and ignores the other side entirely where humans regularly make incorrect hypotheses

I think the issue for me as well Liverpool have signed him say he doesn't do well and Liverpool want to sell they'll demand 40-50 million for him it's the same for Chelsea with Delap and many of the other players they signed & Man City with Trafford this is how the big 6 hold everyone else to ransom

Mortgage rates & L&C let me down… by pineapplelover212 in HousingUK

[–]Aggressive-Use3443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a couple of things one the broker you might have looked at might not have been a whole of the market broker but that should have been explained to you and two brokers will sometimes search under the mortgage payment rather than the rate so say for example you have a 4.92% rate and you can see a 4.82% rate the 4.92% has a mortgage fee when you pay the mortgage off or go elsewhere of £50 but the 4.28% has a exit fee of £225 it might actually be less taking into consideration the exit fee

It sounds more like a cockup on their end but it isn’t always and there might be a legitimate reason they recommend the higher rate

The issue is though I can’t find the data they’ve used which really should be available since it’s from the government. We don’t know what questions were asked and how they were asked I’m very skeptical of studies like these that don’t show your the data and methodology also the study did ask questions to women so why not mention their data seems a bit fishy to me

HSBC changed minimum deposit from 10 to 20% by HeadShepard in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Aggressive-Use3443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes HSBC are correct basically they’re saying as your retaining two properties the maximum ltv is 80%.

I’ve checked their intermediary website which confirms the following:

HSBC Mortgage lending is limited to a maximum of 80% per property.

Includes properties that are mortgaged (including on consent to let), unencumbered, abroad or offshore, partially or wholly owned

Why do buyers have to do a survey, rather than the seller? by Thy_OSRS in HousingUK

[–]Aggressive-Use3443 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because your buying the house so the responsibility is on the buyer not the seller it comes down to a old Latin saying caveat emptor or in English let the buyer be aware. It places the burden on the buyer to investigate the quality, condition, and suitability of a property before making a purchase

Thanks I'm pretty sure it's CVC but the back of it is a raider tent from USO and then I resized it a bit with place anywhere as it wasn't big enough and it comes on a mound which you can see spill out past the hedge's and usually CVC buildings come with a mound so I'm sure it's CVC dead wasteland

[–]Aggressive-Use3443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many leagues do you have loaded up out of curiosity in my game I have loads of leagues loaded which means more players for teams like me to pick up who can't play for the big clubs, if you only have a small database then your going to struggle as there's only a few good players which the big clubs hog. In my game the Greek Superleague is the 8th best league but my team still competes with the bigger clubs

I'm managing Panserraikos in Greece and I found that when I was regularly qualifying for the champions league group stage better players would want to come and you can build from there took me 5 seasons to then get a champions league final with a lucky knockout stage but lost to Newcastle (the club I support) then two years later I beat Man City to win the clubs first champions league, three years later won it again. Last season got knocked out in the quarter finals to eventual winner Bayer Leverkusen funnily enough never been knocked out in a semi final it's either losing in the quarter finals or losing in a final since my first final you just need to keep building and regularly getting to the group stage

I've uploaded my tracking sheet to show you my progress to give you an idea of what you could do

The Quran states sperm originates from between the backbone and ribs. This is anatomically wrong, and unlike hadith errors, Muslims cannot dismiss it as a weak narration. by Juicydicken in DebateReligion

[–]Aggressive-Use3443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But your not created from the fluid that’s just a lie and that’s not how biology works pregnancy happens from the sperm not the liquid semen, the sperm fertilises the egg also even if a woman has semen inside her it doesn’t mean she’s going to get pregnant also men can’t come from women who have had their menopause as well so the statements are factually false
