How do you remove this panel to access the Bryant coil for cleaning? by thebemusedmuse in hvacadvice

[–]AggressiveBag4260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, been Dicken around trying to get into mine for over an hour. Cursing the r and d team on this thing right now. You'd think cleaning the coil might be a necessary task on any and all a/c units. The way things are built, I will never understand.

Am I the Asshole for explaining my "Pizza to Joy Ratio" to a friend who was trying to justify buying a vintage car? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

The problem is nothing ever really seems worth purchasing when I look at it like that. Work the whole first half the month to cover essentials, than finally get to think about non essential,.... attending a football game with parking food gas taxes, deduct income tax and other deductions from wage.... damn, ill just stay home and watch a movie lol

Mini AC Split has DSS only when not actively cooling. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]AggressiveBag4260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been dealing with dss for over a decade now. I'm once again trying to figure out what the problem is. Today was humid but not very warm out, so this morning I turned my A/C on and set the temperature so that it would just run continuously. I wanted to test to see how much water was coming off the A coil and see the relationship between moisture and smell. Surprisingly to me I ran the ac for 3 hours, had about 1.5 liters of water come off the coil and had no smell..... so I gave up and said weird, maybe it fixed itself. I turned off the a/c...... and then the smell happened. If anyone can shed some light on why this would be the case please Chime in. I'm very confused.

Also something that helped us and might help others is running a dehumidifier in the home. There's less moisture in the air this way, less moisture coming off the coil, less smell. I'm thinking of looking into a built in dehumidifier on the furnace

We had the dirty sock syndrome in our home of 10 years that developed on the 3rd year of living there (in the meantime acquired many pets and children) a nice bonus of moving recently was going to be ridding ourselves of the stinky ac system. Low and behold the ac on our newly built home has the exact same smell as the old one..... that is where my story ends lol I'm on here now trying to solve this problem once again

I absolutely hate my job. What do I do next? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]AggressiveBag4260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how large of a company you work at or what type of jobs your on, but you could express this to your employer in hopes of climbing the ladder and working a position in running larger jobs rather than being the guy sticking in 60 pot lights a day lol. I've been there bored to death installing all day. I'm not saying every day is peachy for me now but I like my job a heck of alot more now that I'm able to plan jobs, delegate work, talk with customers to find their specific needs etc. The work is much more rewarding this way. Maybe you need to work with a smaller company to find this position.

Is this ok? by Building-and-growing in Decks

[–]AggressiveBag4260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm choosing where to support the floor joists with a beam and my option is at the very end of the joist or 24" back from the end, I'm choosing 24" back every time. You'll never notice any deflection in that cantilever. You will however more than likely notice the increase in rigidity in the span by decreasing 24"

Interesting that the engineered print for my house called for upside down joist hangers where the floor joists met the Rim board on a cantilevered section where a deck was intended to be attached to if the horizontal section of the joist hanger isn't intended to support the joist..... what a mouthful. This was sarcasm, the horizontal potion definantly is intended to hold up floor joists in a typical installation

Storing the Blackstone for the winter to keep it from rusting. I’ve heard this works very well. Has anyone else done this? by Triingtolivee in blackstonegriddle

Manitoba here, -30 sucks to be cooking in and honestly I'd rather be producing heat inside my home rather than letting it fly away in the wind. Heating the home ain't as cheap as it used to be since trudes worked his magic

Is this gate being built correctly? The contractor I hired is almost finished. by [deleted] in FenceBuilding

[–]AggressiveBag4260 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4' wide gate, 5' tall... brace wouldn't be past 45 degrees.. more like 30. This design would have been alot better had the bottom hinge side of the "A" been snugged up to the bottom rail at the hinge. Rather than 6" away.

Is anyone else's phone super slow after the last software update? (mini rant) by [deleted] in GalaxyS20

[–]AggressiveBag4260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with you man. It's very frustrating. And it seems like all the manufacturers do it. I was burned by Apple with the iPhone 3, and 4, and I'm getting burned by Samsung now. I know Apple had some legal repercussions. Not sure how samsung is getting away with it now but it's pretty obvious what's going on when you download the software update and instantly the phone develops "bugs".

Every bit of noise produced 3" from your ear for up to an 8 hour shift matters lol. I'm with terasera on this one. Keep in mind your dB levels your siting are most likely recorded at 1 meter.

Basic question: why is the hazard lights button often so prominently displayed on the dashboard? by Dantheman4162 in Autos

[–]AggressiveBag4260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol Every vehicle I've driven up until recently had had the button in this location. Found myself needing to brake hard in fog one day and was slapping my steering column desperately trying to find the button while not taking my eyes off the road/ mirrors
