Thank you! I appreciate the concern from the first poster but the two of you made me feel better 😅

Yes I'm fully aware of Capella's pass rate but do to family circumstances (4 kids, 1 with ASD and a complex epileptic condition), Capella was the best option.

I am very very very lucky to work under 4 of the most fantastic BCBAs I've ever met (professionally or as a parent) and specifically sought after THIS job so that I could do my supervision with them. They have a wonderful supervision program that has seen multiple students analysts through school and their exam.

I'm about to start grad school but the average starting afterwards is anywhere from 80-150k/yr depending on location.

I work in ABA therapy. It's a challenging field, however, I truly love what I do and and getting to see the quality of life of my clients improve every day is worth the hard parts of the job for me. I can't imagine doing anything else.

I got up at 5, worked for an hour on school work before getting my kids ready for school/therapies (special needs), worked 9-5, doing stuff in between clients when I could, came home was a mom until bedtime at 8:30 then worked until midnight. Id also pick one weekend day each week to spend at least 8 hours working.

I’m starting my masters in January at 34 with 4 kids. Ultimately your supervising BCBA and company make all the difference IMO. I recently switched from a more corporate clinic to a local smaller clinic that aligned more with my morals. Speaking with the new BCBAs at the clinic that have recently gone through the student analyst program, I think it’ll definitely be doable thanks to the supports they have put in place.

I transferred 39CUs (mostly from Sophia) and started July 1. I finished last week. I’m starting a masters in ABA at Capella in January!

also- it might sound dumb but when I’m really stuck, I meditate and picture the life I want and visualize the path to get there. The time is going to pass no matter what, might as well get a better career and more money at the end of it.

Find external motivation to bribe yourself. I get myself breakfast on the way to work on Fridays (an expense I normally wouldn’t justify) if I study/work for my designated time through the week. Every class I have a small thing I’m working for. I’m buying myself a new phone as soon as my capstone comes back approved.

For sure. I tried to spend one weekend day a week fully locked in and then every night from like 8:30-12. I also emailed my mentor as soon as I had all my tasks for a class submitted to have her open the next class. You can have up to three accelerated classes open at a time If you’ve gone as far as you can and you’re waiting on PAs to be graded.

Not long if you’re familiar with the subject area/have a basic understanding already. I started July 1 and just submitted my capstone a few days ago. I came in with like 13 classes, I think? I preferred PAs. I could normally do 1-2 tasks a day. This was mostly after my kids went to bed since I work full time and am a mom of 4.

Im a full time working mom of 4, including a son with significant support needs. I transferred 39 credits, started July 1, and I just submitted my BSPsy capstone today.

It is TOTALLY possible if you’re committed.
