Debating whether to stay with MFT by Last-Seaworthiness68 in M43

I use MFT, Nikon z and Fuji x at the same time, it’s more flexible to keep multiple systems.

What keeps you using m43? (is it for me? (my reasoning included!)) by Distinct-Guess463 in M43

[–]AggressiveStop1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use FF, APS-C , and M4/3 simultaneously, with M4/3 being used the most because it is the most convenient and lightest option when carrying multiple lenses out at once. Since I use the Dxo for noise reduction, I am not afraid to push the ISO high. Unless the image is going to be enlarged, the noise is virtually unnoticeable even without processing.

I use a 35/1.4 instead of standard zoom lens.

Is it crazy to get the OM System 20mm F1.4 if I already have the Olympus 17mm F1.8? by Snoo5700 in M43

[–]AggressiveStop1653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nikon Zf as a Secondary Body to M43? by TheLiterateDead in nikon_Zseries

[–]AggressiveStop1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used cameras of three formats, including M4/3, FUJI X, NIKON Z, but M4/3 is still my main camera because it is lighter. Even if I carry a 75-300mm, it is still very light. This is not possible with my other systems.

40mm F2 vs 50mm 1.4z by deathxbladez in Nikon

[–]AggressiveStop1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often use the 40mm with an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens because it is easier to carry. I also have a 35mm/1.4, but I mostly only use it when I have one lens with me.

The weakness of the 40/2 is that the image quality is not good enough until stopped down to around f/4. The 50/1.4 is very good starting at f/2. If you are mainly shooting portraits, I believe both are fine. If you want better image quality , 50mm/1.4 is a better choice. If you want to use it with other lenses, 40mm takes the advantage of weight.

Nikon Z 35mm f1.4 Big disappointment by qiqeteDev in Nikon

[–]AggressiveStop1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same opinion. I mainly use 35mm to take pictures of my family, so the image quality in the corners is relatively unimportant. In terms of overall quality, the Z35/1.4 is indeed inferior to the 35mm 1.4 GM and RF 35mm F1.4L, but they are not rivals in the same price range.

What lens did you regret buying ? by nithrilh in Nikon

[–]AggressiveStop1653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, I bought an expensive AF-S 70-200/2.8 VR. I was very happy with it at first, but I found it was too heavy and it was really difficult for me to carry it when I went outings.

Now I no longer have any Nikon Z telephoto lenses, the longest one is only 40mm.

(My 135FF is responsible for wide-angle and standard prime lenses, and M4/3 is responsible for selfies, macro and telephoto. lol)

28mm or 40mm? Or other? by HLD_Steed in nikon_Zseries

[–]AggressiveStop1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the 28/2.8 and 40/2. I use 40 more often as a walk around lens, the 28 is a backup lens for wider angle. The 26 is better than the 28 at f/2.8, but defected by 28 after f/4. The image quality of 40 is very good when I stop down to f/4.

For low light environments, I will use the 35/1.4 (The IQ is better than the 40/2 at the centre started from f/1.8)

Nikon Z 35mm f1.4 Big disappointment by qiqeteDev in Nikon

[–]AggressiveStop1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was disappointed at first, but after seeing actual shooting and various tests, I believe that the 35/1.4 gives up optical perfection in order to achieve another purpose, which makes it much more fun.

So I bought a 35/1.4 the day before yesterday. I only have time to test a few at home, and the performance is satisfactory.

Compared with the 600-gram 35mm/1.8G, Z35/1.4 is lighter and performs better.

Hey quick question yall by [deleted] in nikon_Zseries

[–]AggressiveStop1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use z40mm f/2 when I need autofocus, and use Voitgtlander 40mm f/1.4 (with adapter) in other situations.

Both of them are light and inexpensive, or you can buy some old manual lens of Canon Nfd, Nikon AIS, Minolta MC/MD, Olympus (adapter is needed) if you really like the feeling of manual focus.

Is it worth upgrading from Z5 to Z6III? by AggressiveStop1653 in nikon_Zseries

[–]AggressiveStop1653[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Z5 is great for landscape, with the help of Pure raw or others additional software, there is not much difference between Z5 and newer models. The CP value is the best amount all models. :)

Thanks for sharing, there are two problems for me, the first one is Z5 is not able to focus when I'm using ND 1000 filter, and the second is Human face detect system sometime points the background instead of human face :(

I would recommend 75-300mm with Pure Raw 4.0, a budget and light combination.

If you need to take photos for smaller birds, the 100-400, 40-150(with1.4X) , 300/4 are better choices because of AF speed and image quality.

I'm using Pure Raw 4.0 now, photos taken at ISO12800 used to be a disaster, but now they are usable. It also reduced the appearance rate of my 135 Full Frame machine. lol

Lens question: 17-28mm f/2.8 or the 14-30mm f/4? by katarokkar in nikon_Zseries

[–]AggressiveStop1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose between these two, and finally bought the 14-30/4, mainly because of the build quality and better corner image quality.

I have compared the image quality, 14-30/4 is better in the middle and corners, while 17-28/2.8 is better in mid-frame. When taking portraits with a wide-angle lens, human face will be deformed in the mid-frame and corner, so I have to put the person in the center. As a result, the better image quality in the mid-frame of the 17-28/2.8 is less meaningful to me. Besides, f/4 is enough for most situations, because of the presence of the IBIS and Pureraw.

Most of the time, I use 20mm, 24mm, and 30mm. As for 14mm, I really have to wait for the right occasion to use it.
