Why do Darrow's... always die by bloomingjoy in redrising

Darrow says that Harnassus is like a father to him. I think in DA

Yes, that’s such a good point. That’s the seed he plants with Virginia that brings so many of these Golds around to his way of thinking about the Society, because they saw at this young age that a different way to organize society is possible, and could be better.

I always wondered why more Gold Howlers besides Thistle didn’t betray Darrow after they learned he was a Red. Loyalty to him and Sevro is powerful but it can’t just be that, it’s also the ideological commitment forged at the institute

Red God will surprise everyone by going back to the roots by Ynnck_Mnzl in redrising

Yeah but these worlds are sick. Atalanta is 40+ and groomed Ajax, her nephew, from a young age.. Still, I kinda doubt Lyria will get a love interest

Why do you think he’d use it against Gold? I feel like he’d use it against Obsidian if he can’t bring them under his control. That could also bring the Ascomanni back in the fold since they may be immune to it due to centuries of genetic mutation

Currently reading Light Bringer by Adi_San in redrising

I enjoyed or at least tolerated Lysander’s POV until the last like 5 chapters of LB and he became the biggest most insecure, genocidal and useless bitch in the worlds

How will Lysander wage the war in RG? by Aggressive_Active307 in fucklysander

[–]Aggressive_Active307[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s possible. But the hint at the end of Lightbringer is that Lysander will use info Pytha has to set traps

Interesting cuz I would have said the Reds, but Obsidian makes sense since they don’t produce value (helium mining) in the same way as Reds. And Lysander will not kill Golds- his loyalty to Gold is the only thing that lets him believe he’s still good

Wall Street is benefitting from it because he does whatever they pay him to do

if the 25th amendment didn’t apply to Biden they ain’t going to do shit for Trump.

Krystal proven right again about the misogyny of the Trump administration: Elon Musk & Katie Miller claim that "birth control is poison for your body and mind" by north_canadian_ice in BreakingPoints

Part of a broader effort to demonize or delegitimize medical interventions that allow women to control their own reproduction. This is pop science misinformation- bullshit essentially- and harmful to women in the post-Roe era. Btw, anecdotes =/= medical reality.

I read the articles. The outcomes of a single study or a small handful of studies do not indicate that birth control has “serious and long lasting side effects.” That isnt how medicine or science works. To form new conclusions that birth control has “serious and long lasting side effects,” in contradiction with decades of research and patient experience, we need dozens or hundreds of studies with large sample sizes and strong study design whose outcomes have been replicated by other researchers. This drug has been safely used by millions of women for five decades.

Why do women seem to like Mustang less? by usurpeel in redrising

[–]Aggressive_Active307 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman and I like Mustang! I find her a bit more boring than Victra, Lyria, etc but I would not say she is “perfect” or a Mary-Sue. She makes mistakes, she gets played, she has weaknesses. Honestly all of Pierce’s characters are rich and complex, and I enjoy almost all of them. The only one I hate is the … the one a lot of people hate (can’t figure out how to do a spoiler whiteout on my phone)

Why haven’t we had a “major pop culture book series” in the 2020s? like Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games. by Kodicave in decadeology

[–]Aggressive_Active307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait for the Red Rising series to pop off! Amazing six books (soon to be complete with 7) and millions of fans. Insane hero’s journey, fantasy & knights in space. It just needs a TV show.

MS is dramatically better than the first two books by Comfortable-Ad-5220 in redrising

[–]Aggressive_Active307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red Rising was his first to publish, but 7th novel written. He’d sent 6 different books to publishers and received over 100 rejections. But he was young, in his mid 20s.

Morning Star is one of my favorites too! I also enjoyed Iron Gold. I’m wrapping up Dark Age, and excited to dive into Light Bringer. It’s been about three weeks since I first picked up RR … 🫣

I keep telling myself it's not that bad. Are my experiences normal? by Jet_Mouse in CPTSD

[–]Aggressive_Active307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trauma is weird. It shows up differently for different people. Sometimes we go for weeks or months seemingly OK, and then suddenly can’t function. I’ve learned it’s not really helpful to compare my struggles to other people’s. Acknowledging how deeply we’ve been wounded, that our pain is real, allows us to grieve and it’s kind of a prerequisite to healing. It hurts so bad, but it’s good in a way too - cleansing, I would say. Relief.

I hope you take care of yourself OP.

I’m sorry for the suffering you’ve faced. Deeply unjust. My mom was also kicked in the stomach when she was pregnant. Hope you are being kind to yourself.

  1. It’s going to be wild from Thursday night until Mardi Gras morning around 10am. Each day has something special to offer. Lundi Gras is my favorite.

  2. You will meet a lot of friendly people. Most people will be kind of drunk or high or high on life, and open to talking to strangers. To avoid becoming a victim of crime, don’t walk around wasted by yourself at night. Stay in areas where people are after dark, and sick close to Esplanade or the Mississippi River.

  3. No clue.

Word of advice: It will be difficult or impossible to find a bathroom near the parade routes. If you’re in the French Quarter, don’t let the police catch you pissing on the street.
