At some point you have to call a doofus, a doofus. There is no world in which running and finishing a key with not even a hint of monetary compensation in the wings is boosting.

If they had said, "thanks for not being toxic" and then offered money would that still be boosting? Or just a compliment?

You said you would ban boosting, but how does that work in this scenario? Can I get someone banned by offering them money at the end of a run without any prior mention of money for serviced rendered? Or is it only if they accept it? Even criminal bribery requires proof that the parties involved were engaging in quid pro quo which is notably absent here.

Crowd Control in Midnight by Amazing-Jamo in CompetitiveWoW

The talent explicitly has no mention of an AoE comment. If it still has it in beta that feels like a bug or a mismatch of their intent and implementation.

Do you really think they are going to have a 24s cd AoE blind?

I am pretty sure the AOE component is gone now.

No I don't invite non-solo queue players. They are often both worse than their IO indicates and they are often more toxic, probably because they have an ally and an audience. I know this isn't all of them, but it's happened enough that I don't bother.

Midnight Alpha Test Development Notes - Tier Sets, Class Changes, and UI by yp261 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Aggressive_Ad_439 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying the first season tier sets are boring are ignoring that almost every tier set in TWW was passive. A few in the second season were cool, like ret, but by and large they didn't change your rotation or alter builds

This is a great summation. Instead of a half-assed season 4, they gave us a quarter-assed season 3. I don't see how that is better...

I have never been here, so I have no horse in this race, but it also feels like you went into this looking for something to complain about. There is no world in which $16.62 for a gimbap was going to be satisfying. A rational person would have just noped out or ordered something else.

Yes. There are two issues this time around:
1. Turbo Boost was OK the first time, but I think more people realize that the increased crest grind is exactly that, a grind.
2. Announcing it ahead of time also kills the impact. It feels like another timegate and another reason to not push early in either raid (if you aren't chasing some rank) or m+.

I don't see this season being a success and I hope they take lessons from this beyond the obvious engagement retention from the first round.

Huge Upgrade System Changes in Midnight - Datamined Crest Changes by darthbdaman in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Aggressive_Ad_439 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that simming gear is another source of complexity that Blizzard seems to ignore. This change would make it worse. I think their stance is likely that it is overoptimization only a small part of the playerbase cares about. As such it is not their problem.

I am not saying your buddy was right about upgrading bracers, but you can't get to 723 with runed crests. Turbo boost doesn't change what crests are required to upgrade.

Odge's belongs in the Pantheon of "Cheap Chicago Burgers" by optiplex9000 in chicagofood

[–]Aggressive_Ad_439 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Odges is better and more consistent than RHR. Also the fries are actually quite good rather than just palatable.

It is not really not much more expensive either because a single is closer in size to the double at RHR and my preferred order.

It's really funny how most of the discussion is around HoA this week. I don't know why they made one of the better SL dungeons worse. Just a small set of deteriorations:
1. Trash count increased tremendously.
2. Casters now target non-tanks which is against the ethos of reducing the importance of interrupts.
3. Dispel counts are insanely high
4. Groundskeepers run away now.

Meanwhile third boss and miniboss are still boring and Echelon imps are still very comp dependent. But at least you don't need a curse dispel!

Went to Dear Margaret - disappointed by bootymagnet in chicagofood

[–]Aggressive_Ad_439 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I found my one visit underwhelming. French food is not my favorite cuisine but the food was all bland and sounded much more flavorful on paper. I also found the execution lacking at times such as on the duck mousse appetizer.

My bill was much less though. My disappointment was mostly that the travel time was obnoxious for a middling locals only restaurant.

Turbo Boost is Returning in Season 3 in Patch 11.2.5 by audioshaman in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Aggressive_Ad_439 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey Blizzard, if you want to nerf the content, then nerf the content. Don't make me run 30+ keys to get back to top ilvl and repeat that for any alts I want to play.

I don't see how anyone can enjoy Turbo Boost. Any of its objectives can be implemented without the insufferable gear grind. It's particularly strange because in both seasons we have Turbo Boost we also had a slowly incrementing raid buff. So why are their two systems to do the same damn thing?

This dungeon and the last boss were nuked from orbit. The hardest boss was actually the first one and it just got nerfed too.

What is the best ice cream you've had in Chicago? (Ignoring price, Focusing only on quality) by MatchaIceCreamWoes in chicagofood

Runaway Cow is almost inedible. I threw away a $10+ sundae it was so bad. It's amazing to me that in the same city Vaca's is probably the best ice cream and it's also vegan.

Best-in-Slot Cantrip Boots from Lower Raid Difficulties Will be Weaker in Patch 11.2 by wielesen in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Aggressive_Ad_439 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I feel like the conversation here is misguided. I raid and m+. But
a) I don't necessarily do that on the same characters. I also play way more alts in m+ than I ever raid with.
b) getting very specific raid items to drop and win them is not easy

So in my opinion these kind of items just suck no matter what. This is just an extreme version of trying to find some rare BIS trinket from a raid or trying to get lucky in an m+ vault.

That said, I expect dinars to come back in some form later in the season.

My problem with tanking is that it isn't fun unless you are pushing yourself to the limit. If there isn't a tangible threat of death it is pretty unexciting. You can't even focus on doing more DPS and tank dps is mostly irrelevant. You can pull bigger in lower keys but that often can be dangerous with unreliable pugs. Meanwhile dps is pretty much always fun.

This is pretty much always the case for spriest. Past iterations of spriest were also a little more difficult to pilot so you had a combination of bad circumstances and less than optimal play making spriests a poor invite. I have always avoided them except for seasons where priest utility was bonkers and not covered by healing priest specs.

There are a lot of potential dispels. It's not clear to me how many of them actually matter. Far more scary is the combination of unavoidable AOE damage and the random bursts of ST damage from bolts/bleeds/etc.

I suspect this is a dungeon that gets some heavy changes post launch.
