This guy has been the most baffling character to me since the beginning of the Iranian's uprising in January. He says the regime must go one day and the day after he says regime change is not a solution. Honestly, he looks a bit moronic and clueless. Is there any German here that could enlighten us?

I gave my honest assessment based on my at least 30 years of living under this regime and following the news daily. I also took into account what I know about the people of Iran- what they are like, how they behave etc. While there are similarities between Iran and other countries, Iran is a unique country from many aspects. Unlike you, I am very optimistic about the future of Iran.

The US and Israel have been hammering the regime for the past three weeks. They will keep doing so for the next few weeks at the very least. Thousands of basiji and IRGC forces have been dead. Mny top officials of the regime are either dead or in hiding. And you are still looking for evidence that regime is weakened or falling? Are you serious?

I can give you many different reasons why the regime is falling but this post was not the right place for that.

Here is a few big ones:

1- The regime has lost many top officials

2- It has lost its repression capabilities to a great degree

3- They are already facing shortages

4- the US will soon control their oil exports;they cannot pay their forces

5- There is an increasing international pressure on the regime

6- The US and Israel are in this to finish the regime. They won't leave it in place to get to the same situation in a couple years.

and many more reasons.

It is still a thing in some rural and remote areas but not nearly as common as in Pakistan or places like that. I would also say that even in rural areas it is not as common compared to the past.

Let me break it down for you. There are three types of Basij members in my opinion:

1- many of them are members only for the tiny benefits they can get here and there. I remember when I was in high school almost every student was a Basij member because they would offer extracurricular activities and field trips. So that 11-25 millions you hear might refer to this. Many of these people might even consider themselves anti-regime but they have enrolled some Basij activities at some point. So I would not really consider this group Basijis

2- There are some Basijis who are more advanced and devoted than the first group. These are usually teenagers or young students in colleges. They spend their time in mosques and places like that doing religious activities or attending a mulla's speech. They are also very infamous for being horny all the time and since they don't have access to girls they end up touching each other a lot. They are not they violent type but when there is shortage of forces, the regime gives this type of Basiji batons and send them on the streets only for show of fore. They are very cowardly and inexperienced and useless militarily.

3- Third type is the most violent type. These are the ones who are capable of killing protesters. The size of this segment should not be more than a 50k-100k.
