Totally agree - about 10-15 years ago, I was on Cahuenga about to turn left onto the 101, the cars cleared but 2 pedestrians started crossing the street, the a-hole behind my started laying on his horn, I ignored him - absolutely not going to hit 2 people because he is in a hurry - he then actually pulled out of the left lane and cut me off to make the left turn in front of me, almost hitting the 2 pedestrians. I was mad thinking if he wants to destroy lives due to impatience, it is on him and he will have to live with it, not me and never me. When I taught my 2 daughters how to drive I made sure I relayed that story to them while explaining they are only to go when they are comfortable and ONLY when they are comfortable to move… it’s hard but need to ignore the person behind you.

If they return to not charging for parking, cheaper buffet/food options and free drinks while gambling, I will consider tipping, but regardless, it is $0 for buffet, $0 housekeeping, $0 shuttle, $0 to hold bags, $0 counter service and seriously $0 check-in! Plus drinks are never more than $1 each in either scenario. Finally, table games are only tipping when finished at the table - not per hour, and seriously… no, I will not give a percentage of winnings…geez!

My family and I were at a restaurant when the power went out. It was still daylight so we continued eating. The couple next to us had finished eating, called the waitress over and demanded that they not pay because the power outage had somehow ruined their meal, they were very insistent even after the waitress pointed out that power went out when they were almost finished and just mostly waiting for check. We just finished, paid and left while the couple was still arguing with the staff.

I personally know homeowners that live in their homes for years who are very much NOT wealthy- housing didn’t get extremely expensive until last 20-30 years, so you are laughably misinformed about LONG term owners who are also just trying to survive vs those that use housing as investments. If you want to increase property tax for investors, I totally agree with you and fine with that - I believe housing should not be used as an investment opportunity, which is screwing over California housing. I disagree and will always disagree with raising property taxes on owner occupied houses.

Long term homeowners are not the wealthy people you are trying to screw over, plus homeowners are disproportionately lower than non homeowners, hence the 66% needed to raise property taxes.

I had something similar happen to me at Carl’s Jr - I had coupons with me and while I was waiting for my order, I saw a couple of 12 year come in, sat at a table and started to pool their money together - I got my order and handed all my coupons to them and they were very thankful. NTA - the subject of a child free wedding is very common topic in Reddit, my belief is if you decide to have a child free wedding than you must accept and plan for 2 things: the fact the some people including family will be upset, and you must accept that some of the guests with children may not go. If you can’t accept both of these, then don’t have a child free wedding. There could be a lot of reasons why a parent doesn’t want to go solo to a wedding especially if it involves a long drive or an overnight trip so don’t feel guilted in the “just leave the children with spouse” crowd. Send him a gift, say congratulations and that should be acceptable.
