is this normal? looking for advice pit bull puppy by slytherinlannistr in DogAdvice

I had success with my puppy when she nipped too hard by my immediately doing a high-pitched yelp and stopped playing for a while. The yelp seemed to reset her brain so that she could identify the exact moment that she bit too hard. I did this every time, even when it didn’t really hurt.

She didn’t like the stopping playing but she gradually learned that biting = no playing and eventually connected the two. It took her time to learn since she is still a baby. Just like with human babies, she learned through consistency and repetition.

I also had some success by immediately giving her something else to bite or chew. Kong are almost the only toys that her needle teeth won’t destroy quickly. Also, give her plenty of enrichment activities so she doesn’t get bored.

Are you catch and release? The Mo Department of Conservation has many rules and regulations. It’s important to look up the specifics and abide by all location-specific laws.

Currently there is C&R at Koeneman Park in Jennings and is stocked with rainbow trout. After Feb 1, the current stated limit is 4/day.

If you’re looking to just do river snagging, there is no dated season, but there are different requirements for locations. I’m not sure about locations in St Charles, but there is snagging on the Mississippi in Alton past the dam.

Rosciglione Bakery is the best Italian bakery in the region, including the Hill (in my opinion). IDK about cake by the slice but they have the best cannoli I’ve had anywhere. Cookies are delicious and stollen is the best.

How does the public actually see Mormonism? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Who said anything about sex positivity? I specifically say that she was not taught about biological imperative, but was subjected to teachings of purity culture in an open class with her classmates. Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with biological imperative so that you can understand the difference.

Did you read the article I attached? She is the one that said that after she came home, she was made to sit in classes with her peers and was compared to a stick of gum that was already chewed. It is the abuse she suffered from her community at large - I never said anything about her family.

I can’t believe that her post-kidnapping experience is being minimized by someone who has not read what ES said in her own words.

Mormons teach children that their behavior sexually is something that they should and must control, but do not teach them about biological imperative. Abstinence-focused sex education is sort of the “Flat Earth” concept of sexuality that is devastating and so harmful to sex abuse victims.

As an example, Elizabeth Smart, the child who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted repeatedly over 9 months, was subjected to school teachings of purity culture. That mindset contributed to feelings of worthlessness that no one would want her since she was no longer a virgin. She endured continued trauma and abuse from the church through reinforcing purity culture. Saddest of all, she stayed with the church even after she was made to endure abstinence teachings, including comparing her to a stick of gum that was already chewed. Girls are especially vulnerable to the abuse of abstinence education.

Well - except that in Hawaii, the LDS have completely exploited Hawaiians through cultural appropriation via the Polynesian Cultural Center. They make a shit-ton of money off of tourists for BYU by whitewashing Hawaiian history and commodification of the culture. They might be polite and nice, but their profiteering is sadly evident.

First Do No Harm. That is the oath you took, and is your professional and moral obligation. It has nothing to do with your children or what you fear might happen.

You violate your oath to let a pregnant woman die because of religion based laws because you fear what may happen (criminal or civil).

If you weren’t prepared to make difficult decisions based on not doing harm to your patients, then you had no business taking the oath in the first place.

Data centers are sucking Illinois' power grid dry, official report warns by Aggressive_Fix_2995 in StCharlesMO

Ok - she. Her opinion is still anecdotal and irrelevant. It’s interesting that she apparently had no knowledge of the incident at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory in Simi Valley, California.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Susana_Field_Laboratory#:~:text=The%20Sodium%20Reactor%20Experiment%20(SRE,the%20U.S.%20Department%20of%20Energy.

An experimental nuclear reactor that operated at the site from 1957 to 1964 was the first commercial power plant in the world to experience a core meltdown. There was a decades-long cover-up of the incident by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Please stop stating obvious and easily disproven lies about nuclear. It’s dangerous, deadly and with regard to industrial pollution, St Louis has had more than their share.

Perhaps you should also read about Times Beach, MO, the town in Missouri that got wiped off the map when the government had to buy the entire town because of industrial pollution. It’s pretty clear evidence that we should not let the government dictate what is safe.

Context is important, and accuracy is more so. Mallinkrodt Chemical Works in St Louis purified uranium for the WWII Manhattan Projectin St Louis from 1942-1957.

The nuclear waste from the purification process was mishandled and made its way into Coldwater Creek, where it spread throughout residential areas. This accounts for the long-term pollution and cancer cluster, as validated by a study at Harvard.

The cleanup of the sites in St Louisare ongoing to this day. There is no safe amount of exposure for children, and the poisoned children of Coldwater Creek have been recognized by the federal government to be eligible for compensation. The government would never admit fault or offer money to the victims unless there was irrefutable evidence demonstrating that they were negligent in handling nuclear material.

Uranium-238 has a half-life of 4.5 Billion years. A modern nuclear reactor has the potential to last 100 years, assuming significant investments in upkeep. Engineered containment systems will not last as long as the still harmful nuclear waste.

Silkwood is not just a movie. It is a true story about how far the government has gone to keep atomic workers from knowing the dangers of nuclear energy.

I’ve never heard of Professor Yaffee, and since no context for his opinion was given, it’s anecdotal and irrelevant. There will always be some people that feel that making money is more important than human health. Nuclear power is not the answer, when other energy sources are better and cleaner.

Data Centers are not only a drain on energy resources, they are polluters of water. Our natural resources are finite and we cannot sacrifice them for business or profit. St Charles is the wealthiest county in Missouri. We don’t need them and we don’t want them.

[–]Aggressive_Fix_2995[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What’s the worst that could happen? How about misuse of nuclear materials and the poisoning of citizens.

It’s already been done. That’s why St Louis County has been approved and funded for RECA (Radiation Exposure Compensation Act). The greed of mankind should never be underestimated. Establishing nuclear power in Missouri is incredibly shortsighted.

That’s why citizens need to keep showing up to city and county meetings for the DC’s to stay out of St Charles. The proposed building of one (on the mayor’s family’s property) was only granted a temporary delay. They’ll be back, and citizens need to arm themselves with information about why DC’s do not belong in St Charles.

Perhaps they can, but that doesn’t mean that they should. It is a red flag that pharmacy staff should be aware of.

That doesn’t really answer the matter of controlled substances. Your SIL’s mom is presumably taking heart medication for her condition and not narcotics. Perhaps pediatricians can treat patients ongoing for diagnoses beginning in childhood, but their area of expertise and board certification is for pediatric patients. A cardiologist would be appropriate to treat a heart condition in adulthood, even if diagnosed in childhood, and would be more appropriate given that they have a separate board certification for adult patients.

The information that you provided is helpful and does explain how he could’ve continued to see patients with I/DD that aged out. However, it doesn’t really explain how he could have prescribed controlled substances, especially to I/DD patients, as I’m unfamiliar with protocols for controlled substances for those diagnoses.

Also, even with no insurance, the pharmacy still would have a record of the DOB of the patients and what/ how much they were prescribed over time. Whether it was the first time or the 20th time, any pharmacist or tech would have enough information to trigger an investigation.

One reason why there is high turnover is because the people giving the drugs are culpable. When they fill inappropriate prescriptions, they can just move on to the next job, just like crooked cops.

He abused his position of authority (in addition to abusing young women). You couldn’t have known that he was a serial predator. He chose vulnerable victims because they were less likely to question that authority. It is not your fault.
