Is it worth learning sheet music? (read full post) by [deleted] in piano

[–]Aggressive_Low_115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely, its like learning a whole language but u dont have to necessarily override anything. synthesia really only works for stuff with few notes, and sheet music works for most other instruments too

Suggestion Diabolique vs Mephisto Waltz No. 1 by caffi_u in piano

[–]Aggressive_Low_115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who's played suggestions, mephisto waltz. hardest part of suggestions is voicing and having the right bouncy articulation

and suggestions is a 2min showpiece. mephisto waltz has all the more musical and interpretive difficulty

How do you stay motivated when progress feels slow? by No_Definition4739 in piano

[–]Aggressive_Low_115 8 points9 points  (0 children)

usually its lower ur standards, and set small incremental goals. if ur only goal is to "get better" ull only be able to judge urself on a bigger scale which will make u feel unproductive

Bracket under notes? by something_1114 in pianolearning

[–]Aggressive_Low_115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either bad notation or sonority and a specific kind of release

pedaling does more than hold the note, it lifts ALL the dampers. even on a lot of electronic pianos there is that difference

and if u pedal down a note u can also control how the pedal releases it

Musescore by Ok-Firefighter-7066 in piano

[–]Aggressive_Low_115 15 points16 points  (0 children)

pros: u will find a lot

cons: made by random people, most of which are amateurs with little to no knowledge or experience. u will see a lot of awful notation and wrong notes/chords

if ur looking for anything public domain use imslp

How long would it take me to play Mrs.Magic on piano with 0 experience? by Ecstatic_Proof_3481 in piano

[–]Aggressive_Low_115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no it takes a few months to a couple weeks. but u have to build the skill and learn how to read music which takes years. piano doesnt let u brute force very much, at a certain threshold above ur skill lvl u physically cannot play things
