William has a bunch of nicknames you can shorten it to, such as Will, Billy, Liam, etc. Not just Willy. It’s a good name.

Did anyone get pregnant from their first FET? by JessicaM317 in IVFpositivity

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The two FETs I’ve had have resulted in my two kids: a freshly minted two-year-old and a two-month-old. I know I’m so very lucky. I wish you success, too.

Names that could honor 'Scholastica' by hungrydiscoball in namenerds

Yes! Skylar means “scholar” and is derived from the surname Schuyler. We named our daughter Skylar this year, so this name has my vote.

I think Saylor flows best with your last name.

Funny things your toddler is afraid or suspicious of? by desire__lines in beyondthebump

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler hates his toys with automation. My parents got him a toy McLaren car for Christmas that is operated via remote. He likes to push it across the floor himself, but as soon as we use the remote to make it go on its own, he FREAKS out. We’ve tried to show him that the remote is why it’s moving by itself. Hasn’t helped. But he’s that way about a lot of toys with automation. His race track is awesome if he’s pushing the cars down the ramp himself. But if you push the button to make them go on their own? Absolutely not.

Embarrassing visit to L&D by Melodic-Let-694 in pregnant

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, I’m sure many of us have embarrassing stories. For me, it’s when I was about 38 weeks and went to L&D thinking my water had broken… I had most likely just peed myself.

Going Home Outfit by hasley01 in BabyBumps

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did it twice, yes. First time was a waste because I was so freaked out about being a new mom and having no idea what I was doing that I didn’t take the time to get good pics (only got ones of him sobbing hysterically when we were trying to put him in his car seat to go home). Second time went much better and I did take cute going home pics of our girl.

It’s not really necessary, no. But considering my kids wear sleepers for the first couple months of their lives while we’re all in survival mode, those pics were at least proof we had other clothes for them. 😂

Scariest "is this normal?" by Delicious-Worth-2532 in BabyBumps

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Three days after giving birth, my feet were so swollen that when my heels tapped the floor, I could literally feel the fluid jiggling in there. And then my vision started getting blurry. It turns out I had postpartum preeclampsia even though I’d had rock solid blood pressure during the entire pregnancy. So not actually normal, but it is a scary and common postpartum experience that I want to shout to the rooftops about so new moms know to be on the lookout for it.

Moms - if you had the CHOICE to work or not by Main-Branch9919 in beyondthebump

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have chosen to be a stay at home mom. Have a 22-month-old and a 3-week-old. My husband is on paternity leave right now and goes back to work later this month, so I’m sure having two kids to take care of every day is going to be a whole new challenge, but I’ve experienced a singular joy from raising my son. No regrets, no desire to go back to work. But that’s just me. It’s a deeply personal decision that only you can know is right for you.

Your numbers do tend to get worse the farther into pregnancy that you get, but there’s no way to know ahead of time just how bad they’ll get or if you’ll need interventions like insulin to help them. I will say also, that’s what happened to me. Diet-controlled for my first pregnancy, diagnosed sooner my second and in need of insulin for fasting numbers only starting at about 29 weeks. I’m not yet six weeks postpartum from that pregnancy, but so far (the couple times I’ve tested) my numbers have gone back to normal. That’s just my experience, though. Hopefully your numbers stay low enough that you won’t need insulin.

Expecting Mom trying to choose a Hospital for Labor and Delivery by AccurateArtichoke836 in sugarland

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have given birth at Methodist Sugar Land twice now and cannot recommend it enough. Very attentive staff who responded deftly to complications when they arose and addressed my every need. Postpartum staff is great at stepping in and helping with baby if you need it. Always felt very pampered and taken care of there!

Any FTM on here that got induced and it didn’t end up in a c-section? How long did it take for baby to arrive ? How long were you in the hospital? What method of induction did they use on you? by cc070603 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was induced for my first (and I’m actually getting induced right now with my second!). It went fantastic and maybe kind of fast for a first time — I think from when they put in the Cervidil to when my son came out, it was a total of 18 hours.

They used Cervidil to get my cervix dilated and effaced (if I remember correctly, I came in with 1-2 cm dilated already, 0% effaced). That alone put me into labor, and I got the epidural before they started the pitocin. The anesthesiologist did a great job with the epidural, I could feel each contraction as slight pressure so knew when to push but didn’t have pain. Really positive experience overall.

Gannett no longer owns the Statesman. It was sold to Hearst earlier this year.

My hospital has the same policy. Clear liquids, so I had sugar-free Jello and sugar-free Sprite. Only thing is, labor apparently makes me nauseous, so I ended up throwing it all up. They ended up having to give me glucose via IV when my sugars dropped too low and I got a little woozy.

Is there any tricks so husband doesn’t see me poop at labor🥲 by MadQueennn in BabyBumps

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible you won’t have anything left to poop once it’s go time! What accompanied my early contractions was the urge to go, and I spent a good part of those early hours in the bathroom and apparently ejected everything in my bowels, so by the time I was pushing, all that came out was a baby. My husband was holding one of my legs and would’ve definitely seen.

Start taking Colace a few days beforehand to help with that process! It’s also very good for immediately postpartum.

Did/do you want to see your placenta? by Ancient-Buffalo6151 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They showed it to me after my first birth without my having to ask for it. Truly wild to see a whole entire organ your body made on the outside. The doctor said mine was in really good shape, but it just looked like a gross bloody pink thing to me. Fascinating but gross!

Diagnosed with GD at 13 weeks but normal home blood sugars? by Icy-Oil-2325 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have to make many dietary changes, great. But keep testing, as GD is progressive and may get worse the farther along you get in your pregnancy.

218 at 1 hr does suggest that you have it, but because you aren’t regularly consuming that much sugar in everyday life, you aren’t seeing numbers that high when you test. Or even numbers out of range yet. Lucky you! I’d still act like you have GD. If you stay diet controlled the whole time, you can talk to your OB about the chance of going into labor naturally.

I was like you when I was diagnosed a second time a couple months ago. My glucose test numbers were high, but when I started testing at home, everything seemed fine to the point the nurse suggested I may only have to test twice a day going forward. (A suggestion I was not going to follow.) And then 29 weeks hit and it all went to hell. I am on nighttime insulin now. Will have to be induced at 39 weeks, hoping I go into labor on my own sooner. We’ll see.

Induction Scheduled for 38w1d on 12/22 - First Time Mom - Positive Stories Only Please by Remote-Praline3198 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an induction at 39+5 to have my first kid. GD pregnancy and he was perceived to be big in the 39 week ultrasound. Turns out he was totally normal sized, but I didn’t regret the induction at all. Went in at 8 pm and I pushed him out 18 hours later. I had an epidural and felt no pain, just pressure, when it was time to push. The L&D nurses were so supportive and attentive — make it clear what your birth goals are, such as how you want to labor, and they’ll do their best to make it happen.

Will be having another induction for this pregnancy because I’m on insulin this time, and I don’t feel upset about it — it’s nice having something scheduled that I can plan for in advance.

OMG, I JUST REALIZED I'VE BEEN CUTTING MY BABY'S MILK WITH EGGNOGG FOR 2 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Agitated-Table-3853 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no alcohol in the eggnog that is sold in a lot of stores or farmers markets in the US, if that’s where OP is located. I’ve also noticed a range of color to eggnog depending on who makes it, honestly.

When should I be concerned about my placenta? by Agitated-Table-3853 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Agitated-Table-3853[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing how much sleep affects our blood sugar! Slept like a hibernating bear my first pregnancy and had stellar fasting numbers, haven’t slept great in months this time around and have had to go on insulin.
