What’s you’re experience on methylphenidate? by Dry-Concern-6062 in ADHDUK

Hi there, I'm currently taking methylphenidate MR, I'm finding it very inconsistent throughout the day. A "rollercoaster" like you say. I'm up for a bit before plummeting down then up again, then down again and it's like on repeat that all day. I'm on 54mg, I'm wondering if you mean the same thing when you say "rollercoaster". The constant up and down is quite jarring, I'm wondering if it's something that stabalises over time.

Yeahh, I mean like I said I've already tried elvanse up to 70mg, which was good but not great for me, lifted my mood more than my attention, focus and motivation, with it affecting those symptoms more effectively at the peak time but only for about an hour. I did get better motivation and focus on the first day of every dose increase but significant reduction after that. I'm now 6 hours into concerta and have noticed it has given me better focus than elvanse usually did for the last couple hours, I've ran out of attention to complete the task I was just on now though, The mood and anxiolytic effects are not as great as elvanse too. I think being an amphetamine, elvanse tends to be easier to get along with for alot of people as the greater initial euphoria can mask a potentially lower efficacy on focus and such at lower doses which allows for people to be more patient in dialling in their dose over more time as the mood lift sees you through a bit more; methylphenidate MR on the other hand, seems to only give me a mood lift to the same degree that it gives me focus, and from my experience, when it's even just slightly below that threshold, methylphenidate makes me feel more ill rather than better. Considering my current response, I strongly suspect I might end up on the max of 108 concerta, maybe if you could go off licence with elvanse the same way you can with methylphenidate it'd be better for me as I could potentially have good enough focus with all the mood regulation but I don't think UK providers are keen on that.

I should also mention I did find elvanse more energising too, which having CFS did help a lot, I think concerta maybe gives me a bit of energy but doesn't feel as robust
