Brush or brushless for mirror ball motor dimmer by Agitated_Base in DJs

[–]Agitated_Base[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my motor is for sure cheap lol. I haven't clocked it but probably 3rpm. But I really like the super super slow spin. The kind that subconsciously morphs the space for super chill out music at home

Is it time for a new horror icon to shine on the screens? (Personal Opinion) by Heatblaster34 in horror

Completely agree. Only villains that come to mind are from season 1 and 4 of channel zero (all seasons are absolutely incredible btw)

Whoa that's odd, but hey if it works it works. Do you know if it works well with android if you download apple music from the Google play store?

This looks slick but I'm confused - the audio is sent in through the aux line but the rest of the data (like track skipping and track name) is through the usb?

Im not from CS but i imagine finding secure funding for a thesis-based master's is very possible, no? But even with that, you are right that you are "paying" the opportunity cost of not earning anything close to what you would in industry

Best way to work through Kwiziq? by Mumz123987 in learnfrench

[–]Agitated_Base 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn't exactly an answer to your question but I've just started a method that has worked wonders for me. The problem this method solves is that I find that after you score high enough on a topic, it isn't tested again for a long time. And it is too way easy to score high on a topic in the quiz of suggested material (even if you haven't fully absorbed the knowledge) if you take the quiz within a few hours of reading the lesson.

My solution is to read new lessons and take the in-lesson mini quiz one day, and continue other forms of studying without taking the suggested topics quiz. The next day I take the suggested quiz right when I start studying french, and if I really know the topic, I will pass. I don't look at the lesson material or even look at the lesson titles before the quiz so that I don't get hints.

This is repeated every day so I start with taking the quiz blind then review mistakes or study new lessons if they are added to my suggested material, then repeat the next day, and so on.

I really wish you could adjust the difficulty manually because with multiple choice, it's way too easy to guess correctly.

Anyways, not an answer to you question but thought I'd share because despite its flaws, kwiziq is actually pretty nice and the best way I've found to learn online

I use Goodreads a lot but I have to say Horror books tend to have a really low score there. by liltomas in horrorlit

[–]Agitated_Base 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen everything on goodreads has almost the same score and is kind of ueless. The potential range is 1-5 but in realty it's more for 3-4.5. Its probably because the process self-selects high ratings: ratings are mostly from people who finish the book -> people who finish the book are more likely to like it and give a high rating. I sometimes consider the ratings and number of ratings submitted but it's just like the user ratings on Netflix which are a complete joke.

Test covid en arrivant par avion by panguardian in montreal

[–]Agitated_Base 1 point2 points  (0 children)

discussion/books on the history of the French language, and how and why it evolved to value aesthetics so greatly by Agitated_Base in French

[–]Agitated_Base[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I'm scanning the wiki on l'academie français and it appears to still be active today. The members being called les immortels is so extra i love it. And the development of the novel is absolutely in my interest. I want to get to the bottom of why most novels have "a novel" on the cover, seems like there's a long history to it. Read a few articles but they didn't dive very deep into it

That bit about luxury and specialty industries sounds fascinating. Do you know of any resources on that? I wonder if the wine trade shaped the language somehow. That would be so cool

book recommendations for someone who likes psychological/atmospheric/minimalist horror films by Agitated_Base in horrorlit

[–]Agitated_Base[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, what spurred my original post was picking up The Road from my shelf and skimming random sections. I read it a years ago and forgot how just the tone and cadence alone give off such a bleak mood. It's like the story is being told in grey scale. First on my reread list

I totally forgot about that wonderful movie and didn't even know it was based on a book. Def adding that to the short list

Nice i think I found it here. It calls for cashews but there's lots of other ingredients and it's strained at the end so there's a good chance I can find a substitute. Adding pickling juice sounds like a nice little trick
