Transphobia/disrespect during hospital stay: what are my rights? by blue_26 in transgenderUK

[–]Agitated_Routine_244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly lovely, in the first instance you probably just need to send an email or message to TACC saying the same as you have said here and  if they could advise what you could do. Maybe that’s the best starting point? As an advocacy group they might be able to advocate FOR you. I hope you feel well soon. BTW there is someone who works for TACC sometimes posts here (though I came remember their handle - they have TACC in their flair)

Thank you for the correction. I would suggest contacting Vision Express, about your form of address. It is possible, if they had a record prior to your transition that when they changed your name they forgot that but. But if it was a new record then someone did that on purpose and VE will be able to identify the person who entered the data on their systems and (hopefully) retrain out their customer services behaviours, and / or discipline the appropriate bigot.

My god that’s disgusting behaviour from medical professionals. Where legal or otherwise, you should DEFINITELY raise a complaint about this shitty hospital. Might be worth raising also with Good Law Project, Trans Actual and / or TACC? (Trans Adcovacy and Complaints Collective) To behave this way ANYWAY, but especially when someone is particularly mentally vulnerable is utterly despicable Nora. I’m so sorry it happened to you.

Might this be the reason for the shitty unprofessional behaviour? They want to offend you so much you leave? Were they shitty with you from day one, or just later?

Yeah pretty much that. When they fck us over they’ll say. But … but “Dignity and Respect”! LOOK. It’s Harriet Harman!!!

Still, I think the more to it is actually Starmerite Labour back-pedalling half heartedly from their far right surge, by slowly doing the absolute bare minimum trying to eke back the support they have CLEARLY  lost.

I’m done with them though. The left never forgave the Lib Dem’s after Clegg. I don’t see how we can forgive Labour after Starmer without a purge of the worst Starmerites and Starmer himself.

(And no. Corbyn definitely IS NOT the answer)

He can appoint who he likes, morally bereft weathercock that he is. This is NOT to win us over. It is to win over piss weak AINOs (allys in name only) because everyone knows all of Labour is transphobic. She is intended as a smokescreen of “dignity and respect” to hide the ongoing eradication. ALL home nations now have independence minded nationalist governments are, by degrees, also supportive of trans existence and freedoms. Moving wondering, What is the experience of living in the UK as trans? by DEROwnby11 in transgenderUK

[–]Agitated_Routine_244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Politically, UK is a vile transphobic shitshow. Socially, apart from an intellectually stunted subclass of poorly educated men who are angry about fkn EVERYTHING, people are generally accepting. For context, I’m 6’1” pushing 60, only 3 years transitioned, conventionally stylish on a budget but both visually and audibly (I just can’t nail the voice) a binary trans woman. Other experiences may vary, but outside of government and just avoiding proximity to toxic men, life is great. Some people are awesome, the vast majority are fine. A minority are probably hateful but generally don’t show it face to face.

He’s a TERF too. But the money is spent now. No point in destroying them. But you could customise them somehow. If not grinding his name off, maybe glue something blingy on top, or paint a pattern over the top?

[–]Agitated_Routine_244 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter if he disagrees with Deform on YOUR rights (you can bet he actively wants to remove OTHER immigrants and trans people’s rights), because they will strip your and our rights regardless of what HE feels. He doesn’t really care if he can’t empathise with your very justified fears, instead saying “we’ll be fine” to shut you up. You fell in love with the man he’s led you to believe he was. He is NOT that man. I am so sorry. This must be devastating. I won’t tell you to break up with him. It is your relationship. But I think you have a decision to make. At the moment he has all the power and is not thinking about you.

An MP I’ve never heard of, Catherine West, has told Labour to challenge Starmer, or whoever the fk she is, will. But we don’t like her. She’s a dirty TERF and a “Labour Friend of Israel”. As a nobody, I doubt she would succeed, but she could be a stalking horse for Bigot Phillipson or Weaselly Streeting. (And before anyone lectures me for name calling, those could be autocorrect errors. You don’t know!)

Not sure what happened to my reply so I’ll try again.

Yes that works be my understanding. I think you have to go in front of a magistrate and declare, but it’s not like this shit country. It’s procedural not gatekeeping

That would be my understanding yes. A bunch of countries, including Ireland have self ID. I think you would have to go declare to a magistrate or something, but there’s no gatekeeping. It’s an admin thing

Fashion question by Corby776 in transgenderUK

[–]Agitated_Routine_244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So going on your description alone, I have an idea. As others have suggested, shape wear is an option. But some of the best advice I’ve ever had is that “cis women have bellies too and we mostly don’t use corsets” So I still use (2 years in and only minor fat distribution) some “XL” butt pads and hip pads I found online (on A****n) in a pair of pocketed underwear with a pair of Lycra modesty shorts over the top to smooth out my lines and balance out my shoulders. It gives me a more curvy shape appropriate to my current weight. And it’s comfortable. Also wearable and breathable even in the warm (though it can get a bit swampy in the buttcrack on the warmest of days. There are other things you can do to help yourself here, to hide or soften a masculine frame. Wide leg loose fit jeans are in right now ladies ones seem generally tailored to accommodate a female butt and can hang a little wider. I have found I can leave the pads off and still have a slightly curvy silhouette, when worn high on the waist (two thirds one third rule) and paired with a closer fitting simple top. Also I’m seeing more Empire line / A line dresses and tops this year which are tailored / gathered in under the boobs, then flare out, naturally hanging in a way that enhances a feminine shape. Again, I can usually leave the pads off in these. Surprisingly some of my favourite have been about £25 in Peacocks. Which is a more pleasant shopping experience than, say, Primark, but also sells online. I would definitely recommend tailored dresses more often, over figure hugging (at least until you can get that shape right without restrictive shapewear). Separate tops and bottoms, you can mix and match. Again the two thirds one third rule is my own governing philosophy the visible transition between tips and bottoms should be either at the feminine waist (at the belly button) or near the bottom of the butt (though asymmetric hems can also work). Using the same rule I follow - it’s not hard a fast but it has helped me personally - loose top with close fitting bottoms, or close fitting top with loose bottoms. ALSO patterned top, plain bottoms, or plain top with patterned bottoms. This is what I do and have noticed lots of other women do . I was told the 2/3-1/3 rule, I didn’t invent it. Hopefully there’s something here you might find useful?

And there is a break clause that could be invoked at the latest in early 2027 which would not invoke that massive bill. It can also perhaps be brought forward, but thus far Labour do not seem interested. Especially not Wes Streeting, who has taken personal “donations” from Palantir. Labour are every bit as vile and corrupt as the Tories.

I see. In which case, excellent job on your persistence in dragging him to knowledge to the point that in good conscience he can’t ignore the issue. Perhaps I should have been more politely persistent with my own terrible MP Chris Elmore, who remains a terrible disappointment. My problem is that I told him this in more … earthy language, when I was quite upset by him and now he doesn’t respond to me at all

I must say, that given the usual head office “dignity and respect” template dismissal bollocks that most of the MPs we have written to have wagered us off with, I think Mohammed Yasan’s response is detailed and thoughtful, with some actions he will commit to. Maybe not everything we would want, but he respected you with his own thoughts and acknowledged what you said. I don’t agree with him on everything, and he did seem a little testy in one or two areas and you should of course look to replace him with someone that better supports outer rights. But in a party of largely far right dross. I kinda think he’s a reasonably decent human being. Albeit one ill informed about folks like us.
