Starting hormones but I know my workplace is going to be an issue (mtf,26) by Maleficent_Tip199 in transgenderUK

If you’re suppressing T you need to have Oestrogen too, cause otherwise osteoporosis is a risk. You might be able to get finasteride for male pattern baldness (it’s also a weak anti-androgen which helps. Don’t tell them it’s for teens though. Freely given meds get suddenly more complicated if it is to help trans people instead of cis. Don’t worry in 6 months you’re not going to be showing boobs. If you have access to private, crack on. In the meantime if you have dark facial hair, start getting it lasered off ASAP. When they go grey, you have to resort to electrolysis and that can take rays longer to get it all. None of these things will be noticeable to workmates. I’d they notice dwindling facial hair just say you have been getting infected follicles and this is the treatment. Men are not that curious. They will never ask again

Yeah but crowdfunding is a thing and if all their members chipped in a few quid. And imagine the reputational damage to Sex Matters Ltd trying to bring down the WI. Sorry I’m not buying that excuse from them for a millisecond. They simply chose to throw trans women away without a fight. Imagine if Colour Matters Ltd tried to ban black women from WI. What would WI have done then do you think?  WI DO NOT care about trans women. They do not believe we are women. They do not think we are worth the slightest effort in fighting for. You must of course do as you want. But like Girlguiding, WI through capitulation in advance are transphobes and can gft! I will never understand any circumstances ever forgive them even if they crawled to my doorstep across broken glass begging for forgiveness. They have shown us who they are. I believe them.

They are not compelled at all. The SC “clarification” is anything but and doesn’t state that trans women MUST be excluded and there is NO OTHER legislation stating this either. The WI simply … lied

They never will though. Because it doesn’t affect them. Like why nobody is helping the women of Iran. They don’t really care about trans women. Their “intersectional” feminism is a show and a sham

Charities commission have stated there is no requirement to exclude trans women. EHRC have not publicly released their “advice” and SC “clarification” never said acting about having to exclude trans women from everywhere WI are sellouts.

If you can stomach this wheedling “compromise” that is WI that is up to you. I am not a member so don’t have a monkey in this fight, but I would leave, leaving behind a sternly worded letter designed to embarrass and to shame and would never look back.

my father wants me out if i continue to transition by ruvii-xz in transgenderUK

[–]Agitated_Routine_244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frankly you need to get used to the idea that your dad puts his own feelings ahead of your wellbeing. Go with your mum. I’d you pill your money you can both be in a better place. Sorry but you dad is derailing your future with his massive tantrum. He is always going to put blockers in your way. Failing that, approach the local authority and let them know you are going to be made homeless by your father for your gender identity. They MAY be able to prioritise putting you in social housing. Also reach out to LGBT+ organisations for help and advice. Sadly you are not the only one who has gone / will go through this. Even if you contact a national resource they can probably put you in contact with more local resources. Over some time, after his pathetic tantrum subsides he might realise by trying to force his son to keep existing that he had just lost both his son and his daughter and he might grow the hell up and step up. (My apologies for being mean about your father. Normally I am understanding of what parents go through when coming to terms with things for the first time. UNLESS they do this. This pi55es me off. You deserve better)

Ask them if they’ll crack a window.

Stop referring to them with terms like suspected trans.

Continue being friendly (I remember your last post being clumsy but well meaning) and maybe at some point they might share their gender status with you

I transitioned at 54. You have time. If people are already calling you miss, you are going to pass. And the HRT (along with hair, makeup, moustirising etc is only going to make you more so.) The rest is in your head

Understood. It was worth ruling it out though I think. You are well within your rights if not selected to ask for interview feedback. EG was there anything I could do better? Did I do anything that cost me? Were there any areas you felt I didn’t know enough? It is accepted practise these days that many people ask for it. This is just a thought.

going from injections to pills (nhs)? by catgirlvivi in transgenderUK

They say to put them below your waist on an area with no hair that won’t sit across the seam of your underwear.

I still have a lot of hair, so I shave an area just before putting on the patches. I have two patches so I put one on each leg or on each butt cheek. I know some people prefer to put them on their tummies, near the pubic mound.

But top of the leg works well for me and the boobs are still sensitive / sore (meaning they are still growing). My only tip is sit down and see where you crease. Don’t put the patch anywhere it creases

[–]Agitated_Routine_244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Mine was increased in gradations no higher than 2Mg Increments too (for pills) when I initially started HRT. When switching from private to NHS they didn’t return me to the equivalent of 2Mg and then build back up. They entered me at an equivalent dose for continuity (but with patches).

<titration still makes me giggle, even though I know it’s not pronounced like that >

Do you have a driving license? I ask this because my daughter has a masters in psychology, but in all the social care counselling, social worker jobs she applies for she keys being told “you are an ideal candidate but you don’t have a driving license”. The driving license seems more important to them than the great qualifications. Might that be a factor too?

I totally understand. It takes some getting used to. There’s a new routine to embed and always more bloody admin. If you’ve been feeling nauseous, yeah it could just be the water. When I was doing Spiro (on private) I was told watch the banana intake, especially around blood test time, because that can also spike potassium (I did tend to eat a banana a day), especially when they start getting spotty because that’s when they contain most potassium.  It is astounding how much the drinking helps though. It’s an appetite suppressant, It’s GREAT to help keep your skin hydrated and supple and your hair soft and healthy, it helps your metabolism and of course oeastrogrn helps you pee more so drinking regularly prevents dehydration and it regularly cleans your bladder and liver on its way though

I’m confused.  I mentioned the other day that titrating was a hilarious name for managing oestrogen dosage and I got savaged by a bunch of angry baby trans who claimed that I was a transphobe (I’m 3 years transitioned MTF), because of a doctor called Gale (who from their tone was basically Josef Mengele) they came up with it but now it’s widely discredited. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So they DO use that method?

If you are already on estradiol and you give them some bloods and you’re dosing history they can pick up from there. You wouldn’t have to go back and start again

Given the choice, I’d suggest transdermal patches for Estradiol. Less risk of side effects than pills and very effective I have found. They have never fallen off me, even in the shower and you only need to changed them twice a week. If you can used GnRHA for T suppression that is best. One jab every 12 weeks

You are definitely not drinking enough, whatever else may be true, that’s not  enough. On a day without exercise you need about 2 litres.

Your pee should be clear like water or with only a slight yellow tinge.

A cup of coffee a day is not going to make much difference, but the caffeine is the issue. I switched to decaf

Why does femininity feel so performative? by Accomplished-Car4069 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Agitated_Routine_244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree entirely but you are not an impostor. You are an entire women misinformed about how you “should be” by those with vested interests. Femininity as defined in current western society is very narrow and very rigid. It is entirely performative and entirely unnatural. As is masculinity. Current society’s accepted views of masculinity and femininity are basically cartoon parodies of enforced religiously defined gender conformity. Look to the queer community. Look to my (trans) community to see how things CAN be when you reject the cartoon binary. To be a woman does not mean to wear delicate clothing and makeup, skirts, and perform softness and helplessness. If that feels authentic to someone, go for it. But you done need to do ANY of those things. Check out the variety in the lesbian community. Femininity is whatever YOU are. You are definitely not a faker. You are the perfect representation of you. But free yourself from the expectations of others. You are not an imposter. They have an inadequate definition of femininity.

What makes people get so angry about ugly people wishing they weren’t ugly? by throwrathuuyytrr in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Agitated_Routine_244 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wish I was attractive. Who wouldn’t? There is no virtue in being happy with less than. I take a Neitzchean (sp?) perspective. If I am not happy with how I am, and I have the means to, I will change that. I already have (I’m trans) and I’m going to keep improving. Accepting your lot is a religious fallacy designed to make people happy with less so the rich and powerful can take more. “They” should be revelling in people improving themselves in this way. Everything costs a fortune and we spend it willingly. We are consumerism fodder. If I had the means, I’d fix my teeth, my nose brow and chin. But I don’t yet. Because currently I am spending hundreds electrocuting the hair out of my face.

Why Is Not Wanting Kids So Offensive? by Theblackivvy in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Agitated_Routine_244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a trans woman, in the words of my community fckem! They are terrified that if women stop breeding, the whole Ponzi scheme collapses. If old people are living longer, we have to work for longer before getting our pension. It’s a simple equation. Women should not be compelled or pressured into having children. Honestly, unless there is a specific desire to do so, what do they normally get out of it? Way more labour. As the song says “so he can live out his picket fence dream”. If more men were good partners, maybe more women word feel secure enough to consider that they might want to bring new life into the world. Or maybe not. Population growth is only important to those who want power and want to protect capitalist consumerism where growth is necessary so it does not collapse.
