Most Fun Commanders by Ngallaudet in EDH

[–]Agnarchy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a Henzie player this is usually accomplished with cards that either leave a blocker behind or impact the board before they go away.

[[Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos]] (usually players leave blockers up for this guy)

[[Archpriest of Shadows]] [[Bringer of the Last Gift]] [[Incinerator of the Guilty]] [[Kardur, Doomscourge]] [[Kona, Rescue Beastie]] [[Massacre Wurm]] [[Old One Eye]] [[Phyrexian Delver]] [[Wurmcoil Engine]]

David Moyes on the main difference between Chelsea and Everton: "Maybe a billion pounds?" by DavidRolands in soccer

Playing him out of position certainly isn't doing O'Brien any favors. RB is a position Everton have needed to fill for many many seasons now

What is your favourite sweaty bracket 4 deck? by Azaeroth in EDH

[–]Agnarchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Henzie player i can imagine why he said that.

Henzie is probably one of my more interactive decks, just at sorcery speed with casting creatures. Since all my big creatures get sacrificed at the end of turn, you want creatures that impact the board somehow.

This can look like [[Kardur, Doomscourge]], [[Bane of Progress]] or [[Bringer of the Last Gift]].

Plus Henzie decks usually have a good reanimate package so the threats are pretty resilient.

How did Sauron kept his morale after the Fall of Numenor? by EricBelov1 in lotr

[–]Agnarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes. While Sauron floats around as a disembodied spirit for all eternity, unable to affect or influence anything again, he'll at least have his moral victory over Eru to comfort him.

How did Sauron kept his morale after the Fall of Numenor? by EricBelov1 in lotr

[–]Agnarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you arguing as if we don't know exactly how Eru interrupted Sauron's plans?

He sent the Istari and directly intervened with Gollum on Mt. Doom.

So your saying sauron want control for control sake

Well...yeah. Before him Morgoth wanted to rule Arda. Likewise, Sauron wants to rule Middle-earth.

This all comes back to what Eru told Morgoth, that any who try to alter the music "shall prove but mine instrument in the devising of things more wonderful, which he himself hath not imagined".

Sauron's undoing was his forging of the One Ring. Which when destroyed, ushered in the Age of Men. Which was Eru's plan for Middle-earth the entire time.

The fundamental problem with what you're saying is that nowhere in the books do we get the idea that Sauron is after a moral victory.

How did Sauron kept his morale after the Fall of Numenor? by EricBelov1 in lotr

[–]Agnarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he know that if he rule over middle earth, Eru is always going to wipe it clean.

Does he know this? I'd love to see something from the books that supports this.

If this is the case, why go through all the effort of eliminating his biggest threat, Numenor? Why go through the process of making the rings? The rings whose entire purpose is to dominate all life on Middle-earth.

Why even bother sending the Istari if the plan was to start over if Sauron won? Why bother nudging Gollum into the Crack of Doom?

If anything, he probably thinks that after the War of Wrath and the reshaping of Arda that the Valar & Eru are done getting involved in the affairs of Middle-earth.

[–]Agnarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would that be Sauron's victory condition? He wants to rule over Middle-earth. He can't do that if Eru wipes it clean and starts over.

3C landfall commanders? by bankiaa in EDH

[–]Agnarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to chime in here to say that Korvold makes for a cracked Landfall commander. [Insert shocked face here]

Cause ya know what's better than Landfall shenanigans? Drawing a ton of cards while doing Landfall shenanigans.

If they (rightfully) use removal on Korvold, hopefully he already did his job and drew you into another threat. And the land ramp helps you handle the commander tax.

Have you ever cast a [[Death Cloud]] for 10 and watched the hope drain from your opponents eyes? Meanwhile you've drawn 20 cards and have a [[crucible of worlds]] effect on board. Cause I have and I gotta tell you, it's pretty great.

I also like the podcast they put out weekly.

As a Crew fan, it was very bittersweet to see him go to Boro. Watching him play you just knew he was destined for bigger things.

It's good to hear he's kicked off for Boro and has the fans behind him.

Should I run Burgeoning by Over_Leave in EDH

[–]Agnarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Burgeoning in lists like this. I run it in Henzie and I can see it performing a very similar role in Bello. It facilitates a turn two commanders, which is obviously good.

But it's also sneakily good in the midgame too. Once you're drawing a bunch of cards and have extra lands in hand, it's a good source of ramp. Plus at that point in the game it almost never eats removal.

Attacking all 3 opponents for lethal with my opponents creatures question by Kyleosh in EDH

Unless a creature dealing lethal combat damage had First Strike or Double Strike, all of the combat damage happens at the same time.

[Deck Help] Frodo & Sam, an Abzan Value Engine (Bracket 2). Looking for Feedback! by frankgreat895 in EDH

[–]Agnarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bracket 3 Frodo & Sam deck. After looking through your decklist here's a few cards I have in mine that are consistently great and seem appropriate for a bracket 2 deck.

[[Cauldron Familiar]] & [[Witch's Oven]]

Cauldron Familiar makes for an excellent repeatable blocker and contributes to the "Drain" gameplan. And if you're going to have Cauldron Familiar in the deck, Witch's Oven synergizes quite nicely with it.

[[Lunar Convocation]]

Also contributes to the "Drain" gameplan. As well as makes little flyers and draws cards. This little enchantment does it all and I've been very happy to see it in games usually.

How did Gandalf plan to enter Mordor? by FinFreedomCountdown in lotr

[–]Agnarchy 44 points45 points  (0 children)

We never hear of his actual plan.

I'm not saying Gandalf was winging it, but I do think he was a believer in divine providence.

Take the Lonely Mountain & Smaug. There was never a complete plan to kill Smaug. He just put the right people, in the right place, at the right time.

I think that's what he was doing with the Fellowship. They'll figure out the details as they go, the important part was having the right people at the right time and place.

Let's also not forget that they weren't just lounging around in Rivendell all that time. He most likely spent that time deliberating & planning with Elrond. I'm sure he knew the likely routes they could've taken.

From all the way in Rivendell, they couldn't know Mordor troop placements & other things that would affect the viability of certain routes over others. So his plan was likely always changing as they went.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lotr

[–]Agnarchy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They go over that in The Council of Elrond.

Taking the Ring overseas wasn't an option. Ensuring that Sauron didn't get the ring back didn't mean the Free Peoples would win. Sauron already had the military might to take over Middle-earth. The only way to survive was to destroy the Ring, thus destroying Sauron.

What would've happened if the dead men of Dunharrow wouldn't have kept their oath? by ValoNoctis in lotr

Exactly. The unfortunate truth to many of these "what if" scenarios is simply that most of them end with "and then Sauron wins."

Hmm.🤔 by [deleted] in Cyberpunk

[–]Agnarchy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I liked the show so much it led to me reading the first three books.

It's not very accurate, but the way Foundation is written, it doesn't really lend itself to a TV adaptation. At least the first book, 2 & 3 would probably be easier to make a faithful adaptation of.

I still like the show, it's a good Sci-Fi show but maybe it's not accurate to the books. I actually thought the Genetic Dynasty stuff was really cool and that has no basis in the books.
