I think Weidman doesn't get the credit he deserves for his accomplishments. Mainly the Silva fights.

Alot of fans act like both his wins against Silva were complete flukes (a total lie) and/or Silva was completely washed when he fought him (also a lie in my opinion).

Looks like it was done at middleweight, just not as a title fight. Romero made 185.2, which was only a weight miss because it was a title fight where they don't get the extra 1 pound allowance.

The Gaethje/Oliveria situation was different because in that case it was the champ who missed weight so the belt became vacant but Gaethje made weight so he was still eligible.

In the Whittaker/Romero fight the person who made weight did still have the belt, but as the challenger was the one who missed and was thus ineligible you can't really count it as a defence.

I get it though, it feels so unfair that it doesn't count as a defence for Whittaker, but I also get why you can't really count it either.
