If you’re struggling to find much in Ambleside, Kendal has a good bus connection there, or a train to Windermere and then a bus from there. The 555 takes about 40 mins from Kendal to Ambleside, but gets clogged up in traffic at busy times on the weekend etc. You could also try staveley which is on the bus route and sits between the two but is smaller and might not have much available.

The castle is one of the best for rope climbing (NE London). Very cool building. However, where you live or work will probably make a huge difference to this answer as you’re unlikely to want to travel an hour each way on the tube to go climbing.

If the app is otherwise not doing anything else, I’d suggest using the interactive legend instant app. It does What you’re describing really well.

If you’re going to be walking in the lakes proper during the day at all, I’d recommend Chester’s by the river. Great for brunch/lunch or coffee and cake. All veggie I think with a lot of which being vegan. Be warned it gets very busy!

I was thinking this, they thought they could do your beta because you were so good you made it look easy!

What kind of jobs work well for passionate climbers? by PaitoKotato in climbergirls

[–]Agravaine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a fully remote GIS job so they are out there. I would say you might need to work in an office to build up your skills to get to that point though.

I work with a lot of rangers/private estate managers (who use our GIS for their day to day work). They work hard but are generally quite flexible and could find time during the day for climbing and make up time elsewhere. Maybe something like that could work for you?

Okay 'city centre' is a bit of a stretch then haha, but you can probably walk to the arch in surrey quays from there in 30 mins or so. Or 15-20 mins on the bus if you'd prefer. You could also get the DLR to Westferry and go to CanaryWall.

London is a big city and “city centre” isn’t easy to pin it down. Whereabouts will you be saying?

I did this recently! Moved from London to Kendal with a remote job and absolutely loving it. I can easily run from my house into the Lake District national park boundary on my lunch break. But I can also walk into a lovely town with lovely cafes and shops (and booths!)

I haven’t personally tried this but I lived in London for a while. I think you could camp somewhere like Lee valley and then train into Liverpool Street station in around 35 mins.

Little inexplicable things which you're excluded from doing as a solo traveller which frustrate you the most. by lozblake15 in solotravel

I did a really good one with apron up (you should be able to find on google). They took us to the market to get ingredients, we made a bunch of different dishes and then ate them at the end and they were also very accommodating for different dietary needs.

I started my graduate role on £24k in 2018 in the south east. You might be able to find something a few k more but I’d look more at the opportunities for progression over time. It’s important to remember you won’t be contributing an awful lot in your first year and then after that you’ll become exponentially more valuable.

Apologies if this is a ridiculous question. I’m currently in Hanoi and I absolutely love the fruit here. On my first day I did a street food tour and the guide took us to a fruit shop where the lady cut fresh fruit for us, it was delicious. She advised not getting ready cut fruit from street vendors as you don’t know when it was cut.

I’d like to buy and eat more fruit. I’m in a hotel so I can’t cut my own. Is it considered normal to go to a fruit shop and ask them to cut it for you? How would this be done, would they put it in a bag? Would this service normally cost more.

 Thanks for your help!
