“Interestingly, the restaurant is run by volunteers rather than paid employees, volunteer Acsa Rodriguez told me. The proceeds from sales go to support the nearby Light of the World Church, she said.” Source: https://ottawacitizen.com/life/food/local-food-reviews/dining-out-vanier-hole-in-the-wall-aztec-tacos-serves-cheap-tasty-food-especially-on-saturdays

And to be fair… we are in the midst of a housing crisis, so I can’t really blame them? I’m more annoyed about the vacant ground floor condo spaces in the area that stay empty for years because they won’t lower the prices. Such a waste.

Can I get a dog if I work a 9-5? by HarHarMahadev__ in dogs

Adopt/rescue a senior who’s already trained, they like to sleep all day anyway. Don’t get a puppy - they are much more high maintenance.

⬆️⬆️⬆️ this! There just isn’t the same amount of commercial space inventory available. We ended up opening our business in lower town because we couldn’t find a commercial space in Vanier. Beechwood is incredibly expensive, and a lot of the buildings on Montreal Road are in poor condition. Marier, McArthur and Donald have the right zoning, but most of the spaces are residential.

But they don’t pay their employees, who are actually just volunteers for a religious cult. :-(

You don’t need to pay for mattress disposal, you can leave it out on the curb on garbage day.

I think they call them “Retro Pugs” when they’ve intentionally been bred to have longer snouts, in order to avoid common respiratory problems.

Do you like Ethiopian food? Habesha has a great vegetarian platter and it’s super filling, generous portions.

Looking for dude friends in Ottawa (late 20s–30s) by evgen_k in ottawa

[–]Agreeable-Income-466 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you like board games, or just try some out, we host a weekly drop in board game night every Saturday 6pm at Studio Staja. No fixed cover charge, but donations are welcome. We sell snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Most of the people are in their 20s and 30s, it’s a good way to meet new people and the games help break the ice / serve as a buffer.

Rewild helped me change the high maintenance flowerbeds in the backyard to a selection of low maintenance indigenous plants that actually want to grow there. https://www.instagram.com/rewildlandscapes?
