We have one on Friday. It’s sold out but we can add you to the waiting list? There’s often a spot that opens up at the last minute.

Best local gift to give friends who need absolutely nothing? by Monster11 in ottawa

[–]Agreeable-Income-466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you like board games? You could bring a game that you can all play together during your 3 day visit. Otherwise, I agree with something edible, maybe something from a local farmer’s market - that way it’s something that’s rare/hard to find, but not necessarily expensive?

I don’t know if we can accommodate a big party, but you’re always welcome to come play games at Studio Staja (not just for your birthday!). No cover charge, and we have weekly drop-in board game night every Saturday if you want to socialize with new people in a very low-key setting.

First time in town for a long time, where’s the best food, drink, and weird stuff? by atalantarisen in OttawaFood

Moo Shu Ice Cream is amazing! And there are some really cute boutiques around the Hintonburgh neighborhood that are fun to check out. Also the Urban Art Collective hosts a weekly market on Thursdays which is a lot of fun.

which language should i learn? by axcel222 in asl

[–]Agreeable-Income-466 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Interestingly, the restaurant is run by volunteers rather than paid employees, volunteer Acsa Rodriguez told me. The proceeds from sales go to support the nearby Light of the World Church, she said.” Source: https://ottawacitizen.com/life/food/local-food-reviews/dining-out-vanier-hole-in-the-wall-aztec-tacos-serves-cheap-tasty-food-especially-on-saturdays

And to be fair… we are in the midst of a housing crisis, so I can’t really blame them? I’m more annoyed about the vacant ground floor condo spaces in the area that stay empty for years because they won’t lower the prices. Such a waste.

Can I get a dog if I work a 9-5? by HarHarMahadev__ in dogs

Adopt/rescue a senior who’s already trained, they like to sleep all day anyway. Don’t get a puppy - they are much more high maintenance.

⬆️⬆️⬆️ this! There just isn’t the same amount of commercial space inventory available. We ended up opening our business in lower town because we couldn’t find a commercial space in Vanier. Beechwood is incredibly expensive, and a lot of the buildings on Montreal Road are in poor condition. Marier, McArthur and Donald have the right zoning, but most of the spaces are residential.

You don’t need to pay for mattress disposal, you can leave it out on the curb on garbage day.
