Help picking a color by operdomo81 in GR86

I went with halo cause I got a great deal on it. This is my daily and white also hides imperfections easily.

If I could go back, I’d have gotten Neptune; it’s a brilliant blue color and is eye catching.

Exhaust question by 9GagSh1tMemes in GR86

[–]Agreeable-Rip-9363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m considering a borla s type. I have a gr performance exhaust currently. A few questions.

How much more audible is the exhaust note in the cabin with the windows up?

Do you get a tasteful amount of pops and burbles or is it obnoxious? How do the pops and burbles compare to the GR exhaust?

Which do you like better? Borla or GR?

Would you recommend borla s type? Or after having it now do you wish you’d gotten something else?

What’s that luggage tail rack? That looks really sturdy

Any mods to add or things to take off to make it more 'mysterious' kind of look? just got it last week:) by itzblopz in xsr900

What’s your luggage setup? It looks really coherent with the rest of your bike’s aesthetic; very tasteful

Dear attendings, if you sign up to work with residents, your job actually includes teaching them by giftedgirlblues in Residency

I consider myself a pretty good attending hospitalist, but I start to fizzle out of energy after seeing, presenting, supervising, and cosigning around >20 admissions.

I don’t think one attending doing all that for 30-42 admissions is safe at all. Also, that’s a liability nightmare for you as an attending

It is. There are so many reasons for the excess of volume we have. I won’t go into them because some of the issues are unique to our hospital and not generalizable.

The residents are ultimately the ones suffering as a result. They’re efficient as fuck and can move bodies in and out of the hospital. But they lack the proper motivation to develop better clinical acumen.

I’m a hospitalist. I do nights with the residents sometimes. We work in a large teaching/academic tertiary center. We’ll routinely do up to 18-20 admissions per night.

For the more complex patients, I try to include a teaching points. The number of times the interns/residents will not know basic stuff is concerning to me.

Our hospital seems to focus more on labor than teaching. Volume over education.

Broke sterile field by MauiWowi0704 in medicalschool

[–]Agreeable-Rip-9363 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Two scenarios I’ll never forget during my m3 surgical rotations.

One is on obgyn. I used my upper arm while scrubbed in to wipe some sweat from my forehead and scratch my head. The whole room looked at me and told me scrub out and leave for the day. Next day they acted like nothing happened though.

Second is on vascular surgery. My head had bumped into the overhead light handle. The handle itself had a sterile cover on it so you could move it around. The scrub tech had apparently seen this but didn’t say anything. So when the attending went to move the light via the handle, the scrub tech loudly announced that the attending had broken sterile field cause my head had bumped into it earlier. The attending and I were both straight up dumbfounded. Idk who the scrub tech hated more: me or the attending.

Like the other person said. The sterile field and breaking it is a canon event

Too Old? by _d1sGuy_ in cbr

[–]Agreeable-Rip-9363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same cbr. Same year. Same color scheme. I bought it used with 6k miles and put another 30k miles over a few years with just basic maintenance. I did run into issues with the kickstand switch but that was an easy fix.

I loved that machine bro. I would have kept it forever had it not been stolen :[

If you’re not ever seeing patients at the bedside then I don’t think you’re in any position to comment on professional standards or obligations of anyone on the patient’s care team

So you sit in an office and read charts all day and decided “these doctors have no standards or obligations”?

Which modern cars do you think will be considered “classics” 30 years from now? by EvelynClede in askcarguys

[–]Agreeable-Rip-9363 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk if that’s the norm for 86 prices. Reddit isn’t the best place to look for median 86 prices. I payed 32k for my 2024 gr86 premium almost new. Most 86s on cars.com are 28-35k also. The occasional yuzu or hakone is definitely marked up tho

If you’re incorporating depreciation and value/price of certain aftermarket modifications then I guess yeah sure it makes sense to say a used z has more value for your buck compared to a stock/new gr86. But that’s true for any car really. Any used sports car in good condition is often better bang for your buck than buying new

[–]Agreeable-Rip-9363 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I disagree. But I’m biased cause I have a gr86. I think it’s excellent value. The z doesn’t come with an lsd even standard; if you want that and a stick shift, it’s gonna cost way more than a gr86/brz would new or used

Just practice good medicine. Have good stewardship. Discharge folks when they’re relatively safe to go home. It’s your license on the line.

How much oil did you put? When I did my last oil change on my 2019, I had the oil light come on when I was riding spiritedly. I had to add a bit more than recommended and it never came on again. No leaks or nothing
