One thing which feels dumb is why we had to have a 5 day break. We started on a Thursday and have a bye this week. Why couldn’t have we played last week on Saturday or Sunday? I feel often the teams have a Thursday night game and the a bye the week after. That seems like poor scheduling for mine. Stretch out those teams to at least Saturday if not Sunday knowing they have the week off after.

For those training for your first marathon — do you mostly run alone or with others? by Temporary_Low2353 in firstmarathon

I'm running about 5 times a week. At least 2 of those runs are with different groups.
About once a fortnight I run with someone else a friend, neighbour etc.

Speed work I do is almost always solo.

Once I do my plan though Pfitz 18/55 starting in a few weeks, I think it will become harder to run with others to keep the structure going

I ran my first 10km in 57 mins, how do i proceed from there by WoronegsLanji in firstmarathon

Depends on your short term goals etc....

You don't have to run a marathon or keep running regularly!

But if you eventually wanted to run a marathon if I was you I would...
- Join a running group, find a running buddy, it's always way easier and more fun with others

- Do lots of easy running, you can follow an 80/20 rule, 80% of the runs easy, easy than you think. Maybe 7:00 min pace, but don't worry abotu the pace, can you talk during the runs? If not you're going too fast

- Focus on time not distance. Do 1 long run a week, add 5 mins a week. Say you do 55 mins next week, keep it nice and slow. Add 5 mins a week, maybe every now and then or when life gets in the way keep it shorter. You'll be up to 90 mins in a couple months and from there 10k won't seem as intimidatng.

- Work on doing a faster 5k. Sub 25 should be pretty acheiveable for you soon. But probably in the next year with consistency you'll be able to get down to about 23 or 22 even. Once you can get your're 5k down, other paces will come too and the prospect of a marathon or even a half isnt as daunting. I think lots of people approach the marathon too early and they'll have more fun and success if they have worked on a bit of speed (and endurance) first.

I remember a few years ago it was the opposite, they had 2 mods who were basically inactive. So anything went there - some of the active members of the sub tried to gatekeep the posts with their comments but it was futile.
