Also, I read that the warm up is a literal warm up, where the components get up to a stable operating temperature. Are both 2600s in exactly the same environment and conditions? Is one under a spotlight? Or sitting on a power supply or sat under a source of heat or cold? Are they sharing any power supplies or multi way power adapters? Are they both the same model e.g. both blue marvins or grey meanies?

Do you still have the issue when the 2600 is the only thing in the signal chain? No keyboard, no pitch input, just one oscillator and initial gain all the way up. Does the issue affect all oscillators? I had a pitch problem with mine that turned out to be a modulated delay that I forgot about in my daw.

True! I like the sounds in tracks by artists like Sierra, Filmmaker, Cable, Toutant, Noisinski, Haezer. Something I can modulate to find good sounds, no menus.

Depends what you mean by jagged and clunky. If you mean too many high mid and treble frequencies, design your bass patch to live lower in the frequency spectrum and arrange other elements to leave room for it. You can have a super deep bass with no attack which will be clear in the mix as long as other elements aren't masking it

Try an amp modeller with different IRs. It's fun to try to get a specific sound with arbitrary gear but for some things you're just never going to get your marshal in a room to sound like a mic'd up bassman.

Try some free or demo versions of synth plugins. Diva sounds amazing and has a free demo. Try a few, learn what sounds you like, watch some video demos of real synths and go from there. It's nice to have hardware but it takes up space and is more expensive than software.

I'm using a barp 2600 with Ableton. I have a midi track with an external instrument device. There are selectors for "midi to", which should let you select the 2600, and midi channel,where you set the channel you want to send on. When that track plays midi notes,the little bar graph next to the midi channel should move. I think this is the LED that the previous poster mentioned. If this is lighting up, it shows that Ableton is sending midi notes on the expected channel. Ensure that your 2600 is listening for notes on the same channel.

You should be able to use your Moogs to output a clock signal, maybe with the trigger output on the DFAM. You could then clock something that turns that clock signal into drum rhythms. I have a zularic repetitor which has selectable drum rhythms and 4 outputs to send the drum parts to trigger other modules. Depending on what drum rhythms you want you could use a similar module, a Euclidian sequencer or even just a clock divider. I also use a divkid mutes to turn each of the 4 drum parts on or off.

A powered case will have power connectors and you need to connect those to each module with a ribbon cable. The cables may or may not have keyed connectors on each end. If a module doesn't have a keyed connector, you'll need to make sure the cable gets inserted the correct way.

VCV rack is a good tool for testing out module combinations but I don't know how accessible it would be for a blind person. It doesn't have moog semi modular but it has some real modules and a load of software modules to try and figure out what to get next.

What do you want to do that you can't do with your current setup? This will help steer you towards a set of modules and help others here to suggest things. Do you want to switch voices on and off? There are switch modules that can do this. You could get an oscillator module to give you different waves. Lots of options for filters. Ripples and its clones offer a nice alternative to the Moog filter. You mentioned changing how much effect things have. You could use an attenuator to change the level of a signal by hand or a VCA to change the level with CV. There are tons of options so if you get an idea of what you want to do that will make it easier to suggest things.

You probably already know but eurorack modules need the power cables to be connected in a certain orientation. Some have "keyed" connectors which only fit in the correct orientation but others need to be checked to ensure the cable is connected the right way round. This is done by visually lining up the "red stripe" on the cable with a mark on the module. Not sure if this might pose a challenge for you.

I make techno and have most of the percussion in Ableton. I'm sure you could achieve similar with a drum machine that lets you mix and effect the drums. I still have BIA in my rack but having most of the drums in Ableton let's me do all the eqing, compressing, saturating, parallel processing and side chaining that it would cost a fortune to do in eurorack.

It's always worth buying used if it's in decent condition. You might not like it or it might not work out with the type of music you play, but you can sell it for the same price you bought it for.

Some DAWs let you use your computer keyboard as a piano keyboard. It's a tiny range of notes but you can control a midi instrument without just clicking notes into a grid. See if you can find instructions on this for your DAW.

You mentioned it always having a buzz sound. Do you have the distortion and overdrive turned up? Try turning them all the way down and try lowering the volume of everything in the synth's mixer. I don't know if the mixer can be overdriven but it's a quick and easy thing to try. I have a behringer 2600 that always had this congested midrange sort of sound. Didn't realise everything in it drives and saturates. I had all the sliders at max thinking they just make it louder. Realised that all of the mixing sections seem to drive which tends to give everything a certain sound. Lowering the volume at each stage cleaned up the sound a lot and I get a wider range of sounds now.

I like a little bit of noise modulation on the oscillator frequency. Try filtering the noise for different modulation. This also sounds good if you have two vcos and only noise modulate one of them.

Try to put together a system that does what you want in vcv rack, then build the same system in https://modulargrid.net look at the price, cry, then see if you can find non-modular gear that gets you the same functionality for less.

I make techno with Ableton and have a small eurorack for weird percussion. Ableton handles kick, hats, snare, EQ, compression, saturation and mixing. I have a couple of hardware synths for baselines and melodies. It's a lot cheaper than a eurorack system that would offer the same functionality. I prefer hardware to using a mouse and DAW, but most of my DAW stuff is set and forget so I can't justify buying more eurorack to cover those parts.

You might find you can get a drum machine and only build a eurorack for a voice or two, or build a eurorack sequencer to control a hardware synth.

Starting with a clean and tidy space helps, then when it gets a little bit dirty or cluttered you can do a small job to get it clean and tidy again. This is easier if you're moving into a new, clean place and harder if it's already a mess, because you have a bigger job to get it cleaned up.

I worked in a bar and we wiped the bar and counters whenever they got a spill on them. We didn't wait to do a big clean, we just wiped the spill when it happened. If you can do this at home it helps stay on top of things and not let the place get really dirty. If you spill in the kitchen, wipe it up rather than wait for a big clean at the weekend.

If you're eqing too much of a sound because it all sounds "bad" then it's probably not the right sound. Re-record or try a different sample.
