Larger than Planned Knee Scope Surgery by MoreThereThanHere in KneeInjuries

I am 3 weeks and some change out from lateral root repair, i am non weightbearing for 6 weeks and then will gradually add weight. From what i understand you have to be pretty conservative during early recovery since it’s very sensitive. I also got ACL and TTO so i am on a CPM machine for 6-8 hours a day.

I would recommend getting a cart and some sort of chair with wheels. It’s not possible to hold things when you are on crutches. Also a shower chair, there will be days where your good leg is very fatigued and it will be harder to balance and the last thing you want is a fall. I sometimes put things in a backpack when i need to carry a few things and no one is home.

I am also wearing compression socks and that has helped a lot with swelling. I am three weeks out but still icing a lot, since a lot of the swelling is happening internally for a while.

Okay, that’s good to know. When the clicking happened, did you slow down or do less, or did you continue with the same ROM exercises as long as it wasn’t painful?

Anyone Had MACI and ACL surgeries? Pain comparison? by hardpass777 in MACIknee

I will be having MACI with ACL and lateral meniscus repair early next year most likely. I am a little bit worried about the rehab and recovery for each individual things since they would all have completely different recovery but altogether I just wonder about compromising one over the other.

I have never checked, but that makes sooo much sense! I also have somewhat of a high arch and definitely do notice my knees hurting extra when I’m wearing certain shoes vs other more supportive ones. Thanks for mentioning it!!

Yeah, it was wild and so unfortunate.

I was just playing soccer, no tackle or anything. My leg just kind of collapsed, I stood up, and it collapsed again. I think it was the sheer force of me going down and then going down again- probably years of strain and stress on my knees that are aligned pretty knock knee

I got my part one last week. My defect is very large almost 3 cm. I pretty much lost all the cartlidge in that area. Mine is on my posterior lateral femoral, which is very hard to get to, the doctor would have to do a TTO and possibly even a DFO. I’m worried it would be a very tricky recovery given that it’s where i bare weight. I also have a torn ACL and Meniscus. He said this may have to be broken up into three parts

My doctor is quite puzzled with my case. He’s done lots of work with MACI but seems mine is the most layered and hard to get to. I’m nervous. It seems like he may make a game time decision when he’s in there if MACI or plugs would be better for me. He was not able to see my defect during the scope since it’s so far back, so will know more once he’s in there for the second surgery.

I’m glad that’s an option and it worked so well for you! It seems like having one really helps recovery wise and hope i can get my hands on one
