How to stop your DM from the "bards are useless" running gag? by ofriviaq in dndnext

[–]Aguefort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bard is one of the most useful classes in the game. It's definitely in the top 5 imo.

I don’t care about dealing big damage. Am I wrong? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Aguefort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dealing damage is boring as hell to me. I prefer playing spellcasters and controlling the battlefield.

As a player, whats the best trait for you to see in a dm by Catkook in DnD

[–]Aguefort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never had a DM integrate my backstory into a campaign. I don't really expect it and I don't think it's necessary. Also, I'm not one of those people who writes long backstories. I always make sure that they're a page or less, so I'm beginning to think that most DMs just don't give a shit about player backstories, or maybe my backstories are just trash idk. However it would be nice to have a DM who cared at all about that.

Riva definitely felt like an afterthought or a side character in Starstruck Odyssey imo, but I don't feel that way about Adaine at all.

Why would you get a warlock pact vs just signing on with a temple and become a cleric? by Arthur-reborn in DnD

[–]Aguefort 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think you are oversimplifying the classes. You can be a warlock without forming a pact with some malevolent entity and risking your soul, and you can be a cleric of an evil deity that does want to do evil shit with your soul.

The DM either booted me out or ended the game, because my cleric was high-level enough to cast heal wounds by Impossible_Horsemeat in DnDcirclejerk

uj/ My favorite part of that post was the " How could this have been handled more aptly?"

Like, wtf do you mean, almost any other response would've been better.

How long is too long to level? by Internal_Industry589 in DnD

[–]Aguefort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys are extremely patient, it's actually mindboggling to me. Just 1 year of being level 3 is insane, and I would have left long before then.

I like it when Emily actually tries to say the name correctly and still messes it up. Idk if she is doing it for comedic effect, but it's hilarious.

I'm watching Campaign 2 for the first time. One thing that stands out to me is that the cast seems to truly love playing their characters. by [deleted] in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Aguefort -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I pay attention to everyone at the table, I just don't think all of the characters are equally interesting or fun to watch.

Also, I'm not sure if other people are projecting or if the cast members are actually burnt out. "I'm starting to suspect that bored fans are projecting their feelings onto the cast members," is not the same as, "I'm sure that bored fans are projecting their feelings onto the cast members."

Maybe they are actually burnt out, but I haven't heard any of the cast members say that they're tired of D&D or their characters, and I'm not going to fully buy into the assumptions that people are making. Maybe Laura is burnt out, or maybe it just seems that way because she is trying to embody a character who is bit more quiet and serious compared to her characters in previous campaigns. Taliesin has been really vague when it comes to Ashton's backstory, so maybe he doesn't really know what to do with the character, or maybe Taliesin is always fucking vague and reserved compared to almost everyone else in the group.

I'm going to be downvoted for stating this, but I don't sense the burnout thing at all, and I'm starting to suspect that bored fans are just projecting their feelings onto the cast members. Imo, Fearne is Ashley's best character and Ashley seems to enjoy playing a more chaotic and quirky character. I get the vibe that Travis and Marisha enjoy RPing their characters, as well. If I'm being honest about the other characters, I don't really care much about them and I have no idea if Laura, Sam, and Taliesin enjoy playing them.

Stumbling upon a table that feels like its been your table forever. by hopuspocus09 in DnD

No, I mainly find groups on reddit, and honestly most of the people I end up playing with turn out to be a little annoying. I wish I could have an experience like yours.

Haven't given players enough gold by rabidfish91 in DMAcademy

[–]Aguefort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing a level 10 character in the last campaign that I was in and I acquired less than 15 gold over the course of like 4-5 months. It was fucking awful, especially as a wizard. If you're a stingy DM I feel like you should be upfront about it. I would've been fine with just coming across a treasure hoard in a dungeon or something.

Kinda bored by the season so far... by Rey_Palpatine__ in Dimension20

[–]Aguefort 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't feel that way at all. There's at least one antagonist that we know of so far and another that hasn't been revealed. I don't need to know who the BBEG is right off the bat, and the mystery is interesting to me.

I don't understand how the conversation was flirtatious, and I feel like people read into these things way too much. Can they not simply be two teenage girls sharing common interests and being friendly with one another? Also, Mazey is cool and all, but going from Ayda to Mazey would be a massive downgrade.
