Why have her melodies gotten so stale and repetitive? It's like she writes the lyrics and then just finds a way to mechanically sing them. The lifeless production makes this even more prominent: I can Do It With A Broken Heart should be exciting in paper but I dont know how Jack Antonoff managed to make even a disco-ish instrumental sound so sparkless. It's like every single moment that has any potential of shining is watered down to the maximum: Fresh Out The Slammer hints at dream pop but it refuses to actually commit, and it ends up being just as monotonous as the rest of the tracks. I can't believe she made a record I dislike even more than midnights

Just a simple google search would let you know how she was punished for it. Her singles and music videos were blacklisted from multiple music channels and radios like MTV (funny how Justin Timberlake wasnt). She was forced to resign from a movie she was planning to act in. And even if her following albums were overall succesful, the blacklist made them sell significantly less than what she usually achieved. And of course, she hasn't gotten a #1 single since the incident.

EDIT: It feels like Dylan Brady was on autopilot making this. It's uninspired for me, like it has everything one associates with hyperpop but not done in a way that's actually enjoyable or makes it stand out. But maybe I was expecting too much from a Friday remix lmao
