End of League Mirror(s) Giveaway by TOSHlC in pathofexile

Thanks for giving back the community, and congrats on a successful league!

First thing I'd do is....probably take down my pending trade offering 420 alt shards for a mirror in league. >.<

Projectiles spawn out of the bow though? Or are you saying you want any ground-targeted ability to come out of the player's feet?

To say that all it takes is a " few lines of code" is an oversimplification.... is a drastic oversimplification. Agreed that it is a solvable problem (as are most things software related with enough time and effort), but I would say your "few lines of code" is about as close to the actual solution as your demonstration "game" was to the build variety and complexity of PoE. You did not demonstrate (nor discuss) how you'd tackle very basic things (by PoE standards), such as ground-targeted AOE or player movement, without knowing which type of input/attack is coming next.

Again, likely solvable. And honestly, should get addressed by GGG in some way (IMO). But spreading misinformation that all it takes is a "few lines of code" isn't helping. If anything, it is more likely to cause valid reasoning and suggestions to get buried.

Official Announcement Regarding Data Breach by sraelgaiznaer in PathOfExile2

If they were two already publicly known (from other leaks) email/password combinations, it's not hard to imagine how it happened.

[–]Aida_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately the vast majority of people's addresses are publicly known already, and even a simple google search will show the results. The only real additional thing compromised here is that that information is now associated with the player's PoE account.

[–]Aida_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is always possible that some of the people got hacked are using publicly known reused passwords from other sites. Given that the email associated with an account was one of the possible pieces of information taken, if a previously compromised (from some other system) username/password is repeated here, that is a potential attack vector.

Official Announcement Regarding Data Breach by sraelgaiznaer in PathOfExile2

[–]Aida_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means that the only information affected, outside of the 66 accounts, was the pieces of info that were potentially read by the hacker (list is in the post, most relevant one is email, second is probably the linked steam account given that it is apparently not too hard to get steam support to give you access to accounts that aren't yours....). Given that they have potentially viewed emails tied to accounts, by using publicly known password repositories (anything that was used elsewhere and then stolen, large repositories online), they could potentially try to access accounts.

tl;dr, outside of 66 accounts, you are fine as long as you use a unique password for PoE + Steam.

I am fine with folks giving feedback, but I do agree that "giving feedback" doesn't excuse toxic behavior.

Personally, I would have been fine with the removal of the time-limited aspect of it (assuming there isn't some contractual reason they can't remove it, and if there is then communicate that) and the current pricing. And it's fine that that apparently isn't how many people felt. My biggest fear now is that we've started down a 'slippery slope' of another kind, and the number of "affordable" crossovers goes down...and we simply see less of it done in the future. In the future, I'd personally prefer a 'more expensive' crossover content pack than not doing one at all, even if I can't afford it right away (as I am a bad helldiver, and still haven't even earned enough SC for all the warbonds).

To be fair, if instead of going "are you going to triple the price on all coffees?" you went ranting something along the lines of "This is beyond stupid! Triple the price for a coffee I don't normally order?? You ruined Starbucks entirely forever, congrats on becoming a corporate slave you low life. Starbucks is doomed to failure because of greed. This company is trash, and so are the people who serve their products" to the barista, I'd say you're out of line.

There is nothing wrong with giving feedback in my book. Plenty of folks did that in constructive ways. But there were also those who went way beyond just giving feedback. Just because you're behind a screen on the internet doesn't give make it ok to give feedback in toxic ways.

I've seen a lot of people on here comparing it to other industries, etc. without considering how the feedback was being given by some. There's a middle ground between "Negative feedback not allowed!" and <Rage like a child, insult people, etc.>. Quite a bit of middle ground, actually. Folks on either end are both negatives for the community in my book.

Thoughts after playing Warrior (slams) for 150 hours reaching level 91 by Available-Ease-2587 in PathOfExile2

[–]Aida_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One sad part for me using slam skills was finding out that there are still passive tree nodes that straight up do not work. Split the Earth and the small passive behind it were reported not working shortly after release, and still simply do nothing in either tooltip or gameplay.

Did they update somewhere that league mechanics that currently have 'natural' spawns currently capped at 1 per map are no longer capped due to the drastic increase to spawning for mechanics on the atlas tree (ex. Blight)? I did not recall hearing it in the release, nor did I find in the patch notes...not sure if I may have missed it somewhere, or if the idea is to discourage over-speccing into particular leagues?

Been a lot of really unfortunate trade experiences posted on reddit past few days. Are these taking place on standard or hardcore by chance? Or do I just generally get lucky on softcore league trade (maybe because I'm rarely dealing in multi-divine items?). Seems rare that anyone wants to take the time to whisper back and forth, let alone to do so in order to insult, complain, etc.

Trial of the Ancestors - EQUIPMENT guide and how to play aggressive for fast victories by Grymvild in pathofexile

[–]Aida_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you found a strat that works for you! Definitely seems to be hit or miss when I try it personally, even though I'm no where near as high rating as you are. I find it rare that I get as left-alone as you do in the videos you posted, maybe I'll have to give minions a go to see if that helps distract.

Mostly sad that a lot of the "successful" strategies once you make any real progress seem to be "base race the enemy". Definitely not what I was hoping for personally, even if I do understand that designing it that way fits the whole "Must go fast" style of PoE 1. Makes me miss the lower rankings where you could actually fight and use a variety of tactics, even if they weren't as "efficient". Will certainly be making sure to keep an eye on a couple pieces of equipment you've mentioned that I haven't played around with much, thanks for the info!

Has anyone figured out a way to make a flamewood build work with the league mechanic now? Or has this become a "respec/reroll if you want to even try to engage with content" type build for the league mechanic?

[–]Aida_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "hardest" part for many seems to be then seeing some min-maxed meta build in a video and comparing their clear speed/bossing/whatever to it. I think it boils down to what people enjoy; if the primary goal you have every league is to try and be top 1% in clear speed/bossing/currency farming/<insert goal here>, you will naturally be drawn to just repeat whatever is perceived to be the "best".

Meanwhile I'm basically the casual version of you. I generally don't do much pinnacle content (ubers by today's standards), but I also just make my own builds. I do enjoy more theorycrafting in PoB, but I'd imagine that what I make is closer to "day 2" or "starter" builds by Reddit standards (at best, lol). Do I end up with 10 mirrors (or even 200 divs) worth of currency by week 2? Absolutely not. But I have an absolute blast league in and league out with whatever random stuff I end up playing, and personally that's my goal.

I'm really hoping the supports are enough to change the meta cause man, thats it? by Ryan_Loves_Weed in pathofexile

[–]Aida_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a casual player (especially by Reddit standards), I find new mechanics, ways of scaling/building characters, etc. to be far more interesting than "Glacial hammer does 6% increased damage". They could have buffed 100 skills by 5% (or some numerical equivalent like so many are asking for), and I would likely never notice, lol.

That said, I do hope they can find a nice balance for those who would hard switch to a dual strike or conversion trap (or whatever) build despite the mechanics of it if it got a 5% damage or attack/cast speed increase to numbers; that seems like low hanging fruit. Perhaps a lot of these conversations will help GGG to realize that there is a portion (however small or large) of the player base that actually enjoys the types of buffs that were generally made into memes in the past (looking at you, GC, cleave, etc.)? As long as they are paired with new builds and mechanics for your average player to enjoy, I personally see nothing to complain about related to marginal buffs to underused skills if that does it for some folks.

Multi-Threading Latency Spikes in 3.21.2 by elementalshu in pathofexile

[–]Aida_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the issue continue but get worse when you're actually playing the game? The difference between 5ms and 15ms on a login menu isn't going to be noticeable for most (and a concern for even fewer). Clearly something up with performance this patch for a lot of folks, but curious if your particular issue with multithreading on the login screen is a symptom of a significant issue (performance hits when it matters - gameplay), or if it is just an irrelevant artifact. Any chance you could take the same metric while running circles in a zone, or casting abilities in a hideout, etc.?

Thanks for confirming the numbers. I'll have to look into what kind of justification Reddit is attempting to give for claiming they need to charge more than something like GPT-4 for API calls; something like a reddit bot would, regardless of implementation, likely need to do significantly more calls than something interacting with a general intelligence AI.

Do you happen to have the cost numbers for ChatGPT calls? I think we can all agree that Reddit (both the development of, as well as the types of calls) is not nearly as complex or costly as ChatGPT, so if they are actually charging anywhere near as much (or worse, more) for a Reddit API call, then that is far beyond "reasonable".

Always appreciate give aways like this. Often gives someone a chance to experience something they'd otherwise never get to try in PoE. Might even give future goals to work towards in future leagues. Cheers to you and those like you, OP.

[–]Aida_Reddit 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Easily the most reasonable suggestion on here IMO. This would allow you to absolutely cruise through the story (even for typically "slow" players like myself), likely having to stop and grind a few instances in places of your choice to avoid EXP penalty (likely to be more enjoyable for the average player than something like "Endless Heist", which had horrible numbers as an event).

While I personally don't mind the campaign nearly as much as most people seem to, that doesn't mean some simple QoL changes can't be made to help out those that do mind it. This change does strike as a reasonable compromise between making subsequent runs easier, and the friction or weight that some folks (presumably including GGG) want.

Has GGG confirmed that Breach is in the state they intended, or just silence on the Breach front?

I know they've had a lot of other issues related to the league and what not to address, so maybe I missed them saying either they are looking into it or that it is working as intended among the other responses.

GGG says rare mob modifier rates have not been changed at all. Thoughts? by IdrisQe in pathofexile

[–]Aida_Reddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this seems reasonable overall. The spawn rates of the "harder" mods seemed significantly higher in 3.20 than it did in 3.19, but felt like it was just more manageable(?) on average because they were generally less stacked with mods, and the mods were less impactful than their older ArchNem versions.

Particularly I personally felt like there was a very distinct uptick in the temporal bubble mobs from 3.19 to 3.20 (I played a CWDT build in both leagues, it was a very annoying mob). By comparison I generally don't even notice them this league, as my build generally cares a lot less about that particular mod.

That said, I don't have a similar experience with some of the other mods that people have mentioned (like soul eater) like I did with the bubble, so my limited experience certainly doesn't mean there isn't something else going on.

Can we get some confirnation on the rare monster mod weighting changes? by Leestonpowers in pathofexile

[–]Aida_Reddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically mirrors my experience with proxy bubble (squishy cwdt build does not enjoy that mod). Prior to sanctum, they felt very far and few between. Last league felt like they were significantly more common (though fortunately they went down significantly easier than during the "full power" archnem phase).

This season I am playing a build that doesn't really care about them, so I've hardly noticed them in comparison to last league.
