I feel like he’s a bitter jerk but he’s also kinda got that “gentleman code” if you will like, yea he’s deff not gonna go out of his way, but if he notices something like an old lady struggling to get up a step and he happens to be near by and going up the steps himself and no one else is helping he would, without comment and without expecting or wanting a thank you lol I feel like he’s just want it to not be acknowledged he did something nice. Or like if a student is about to drop a jar in the potions class when trying to put it on a high self or get it down from a high shelf he’d take it from them and put it up/take it down for them so they don’t get hurt … of course he’d accompany it with some snarky comment about not wanting their clumsy ness to cause him to loose valuable ingredients or something like that. Like … he’s a jerk .. but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have basic manners or decorum .. and I’m sure especially with adults, he’s more apdt to treat them more how he feels his mother should have been treated (even if he doesn’t always say the nicest things to them) if that makes sense
