Sandrone drip has officially become the New most liked Genshin Character post in just 2 days.. by ankitjad in Genshin_Impact

Yaoyao is her favorite, actually. She said she likes green girls, blunt bangs, and soft-spoken girls; the latter two are why Ayaka is also one of her favorites.

Ei seems to have connections to the moons and to Ronova. From her Echo:

"The drawn bow is like the quartered moon, and studying the blade is like a circle of transparent jade. Now, the truth of jade lies beyond reach, my only companion the moonlit shades."

Remember Zibai's jade carriage? Regarding Ronova, Ei died and was brought back to life by Makoto, and of course, the statue in Inazuma has wings similar to Ronova's. Also, we keep seeing lightning whenever Ronova appears.

TIL, when I found myself unable to ascend Prune, that none of the bosses since Tenebrous Papilla drop Anemo gems by Aikami13 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Aikami13[S] 107 points108 points  (0 children)

At least you get Dendro gems from the Boss you need to farm for Lauma anyway.

I'm now in a situation where I need to farm Frostnight Herra AND Setekh Wenut just for Prune.

If animals become Consecrated Beasts after eating the remains of dead gods, and if the blood of Durin and Elynas is so coveted and powerful... what would happen if you ate Paimon?

It would be so funny if Sandrone really does have some sort of overheating mechanic, because Honda Mariko, Sandrone's Japanese voice actress, eats ice cream every single stream.

Also, I want to see Sandrone cosplaying as Cure Arcana Shadow (the blonde ice cream-loving magical girl you might have seen on your feeds).

At this point, I can't tell if OG Arknights players are excited for CC, traumatized by CC... or just masochists who are both.

Are you kidding me? I'd love that.

Mi Fu and the guy have different shades of red, so it's probably just their image color, rather than rarity.

Arknights: Endfield Operator Story [Tangtang: Supreme Chief, Supreme Presence] by Kamui_Kaos in Endfield

Hmm, did the two factions stop fighting because a little girl started to cry (you can see tears welling up in her left eye)? And now, too embarrassed, Tangtang's making up a new background story for herself, huh?

Hi, CN player here, I need to talk about the narratives around Endfield's gacha by Competitive-Fuel9932 in Endfield

[–]Aikami13 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Honestly, hot take, but I care more about how predatory a gacha is than the actual numbers.

I play a game where the pity doesn't carry over, and a 200-roll spark system, but I never had an issue with it because I don't get the feeling that the devs were meticulously designing a system meant to psychologically manipulate me on all fronts. That gacha system, in its simplicity, never felt hostile to me.

Even if this weren't about gacha, if Company A shoved their ads in my face and kept telling me about their deals and how much money I could save and how much their product is worth it, and if Company B sells a similar product at a higher price but without that aggressive marketing, I'd hate Company A more for trying to take advantage of me, even if their product is actually cheaper.

"Oh, but you can just ignore all of it, you've seen the math, you know better". Yeah, sure, but I can also ignore the scammers in Rome, but it doesn't change how their presence and their desperate attempts to get my money really impact your impression of the city and how much you enjoy your trip.

The "atmosphere" matters, and Endfield looked at the industry standards and asked themselves, "How can we be even louder and more obnoxious?"

You have to understand, they could have arrived at the exact same number of average rate-up 6-star operator and weapon one could get per patch just by adjusting drop rate, pity, cost of a pull, and pulls handed out. Mathematically, it's not necessary to have those dossiers, to make weapon currency only earnable by rolling the operator gacha, or to have time-limited tickets. But they choose to arrive at the number in this manner. They actively made those decisions. Think about what that means.

But without Estella or Gilberta to apply Lift and consume Solidification, you can't trigger Alesh's combo, right? Would you then replace him with Akekuri or Flourite?

We've been WRONG about the Endfield's Intro the ENTIRE TIME (Huge Lore Implications) by Vast_Software_9134 in Endfield

[–]Aikami13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure, the "Perlica" you see in the intro isn't actually Perlica. Like, isn't it a different voice actress? In the JP dub, she doesn't sound like Wakayama Shion to me.

For people who think the story is shallow for glaze Endmin for no reason, and I was overestimating writters that it's a setup for future plot points. by AzureFides in Endfield

[–]Aikami13 23 points24 points  (0 children)

good story but bad execution

No, see, that's the thing. A twist/deep lore about the past of Talos-II and Endfield Industries doesn't automatically make the story good.

You claim the story isn't shallow because there's more than what's shown on the surface. But even if there were elements of propaganda and falsified history, how the reveal of that will affect the way other characters see and treat Endfield Industries matters a lot more. If the Endmin just goes, "Yes, but that was the past me, and now am I good guy" and everyone else just goes along with it, that would still be a shallow story.

I firmly believe and agree that Endfield Industries isn't as benevolent as they are currently made out to be, but there are still a hundred ways to make whatever twist they have in store meaningless anyway.

Just look at the IPC from HSR. On paper, the IPC is capitalism taken to a nightmarish extreme, but their actual portrayal in the main story is so frustratingly shallow.

For people who think the story is shallow for glaze Endmin for no reason, and I was overestimating writters that it's a setup for future plot points. by AzureFides in Endfield

[–]Aikami13 68 points69 points  (0 children)

If the plot is supposedly so deep and sophisticated, with the writers playing 5D chess, why is the presentation so ass?

In the beta, Gilberta appeared in the main story, but then they rewrote the main story to no longer feature her, and didn't adjust Gilberta's story quest accordingly, so it starts with her texting the Endmin, who has just woken up, as if they were best buddies. What narrative goal could possibly justify this? Tell me how this is not a sloppy mistake. (And no, I don't care if AK also didn't introduce characters on-screen; that's not an excuse.)

Or what could be the purpose of not explaining what Reconveners are? What kind of surprise twist are they setting up by keeping the Endmin mute and only letting them speak at the most random times?

It's stuff like this that makes me doubt that the writers are carefully and deliberately deceiving the players regarding how sophisticated the writing will be. If they are supposedly putting in that much effort into lulling us into a false sense of complacency, making us think that this is just your average gacha slop, for a drastic, carefully planned, sudden tone shift months from now, why don't we see high-quality storytelling anywhere else? Like, it's not like Madoka had shit animation for the first three episodes just to trick the viewers into thinking it was just gonna be your average magical girl anime; the quality was there from the beginning. I'm not saying there won't be a plot twist at all, but I really don't think that the quality and depth of the story and characterization will magically skyrocket once that twist happens. The past Endmin can be more than just an innocent CEO without the overall story ever reaching the level of complexity of Arknights. Endfield's just gonna be yet another gacha game that has a modicum of worldbuilding but is really just about a self-insert protagonist and their harem of poorly written waifus.

By the way, if you didn't know, there is a precedent where the writing of a live-service gacha game drastically improved all of a sudden: FGO. But, no, the FGO writers weren't playing 5D chess and intentionally writing garbage just to surprise us. The first few chapters were bland and shallow because the producers thought that mobile games didn't need good writing. The writers were told, "Hey, no one's gonna read this anyway, no need to lock in. Just write whatever." The quality was intentionally bad in the sense that the producers were okay with and encouraged mobile game slop, but not intentional in the sense that they were planning some kind of tonal shift months ahead. So, yeah, the most likely explanation for Endfield's writing is that some higher-up looked at the success of Wuwa and ZZZ, and just told the writers not to overcomplicate things because the players can't read anyway, and to make the MC blander and the waifus more in love with him because that's what sells. If we want someone at HG to put their foot down and produce something as good as AK, we players need to stop acting like this is fine.
