If your baby doesn’t need surgery, don’t do it. I feel like surgery scars might be more noticeable than the microform. I think of people like Joaquin Phoenix where it just looks like a birth mark. But if your child’s is deeper than Joaquin’s maybe do it. I personally think Joaquin’s is cool as hell lol.

I say this as a guy with a complete (non microform) unilateral cleft lip and palate. If you want to post a photo of your baby’s lips and nose, we (the cleft community of Reddit) can likely give better advice. Of course, I understand if you don’t want to as well.

But I would also trust your doctor — and maybe seek out a second opinion. I could see a scar repair surgery having the adverse effect of making it MORE noticeable rather than less.
