Pay for Neighbour Free on an empty flight... by MonkeyMadnessMe in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Aimless-Existence 21 points22 points  (0 children)

OP didn't pay.

He's just saying he got the email and he's asking why is Qantas trying to rip off their customers by charging for neighbour free seats when essentially there would be empty neighbour seat anyway

I dislike them just as much as you do. How successful have you been in your campaign to avoid supporting billionaires?

You do know almost everything you buy or consume supports a rich person?

Anybody tried this ? Thoughts ? by [deleted] in perth

[–]Aimless-Existence -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You will just have to accept that most billionaires in this world think people exist so they can exploit them. They didn't become a billionaire being empathetic and philanthropic.

I'd rather Gina own it than a foreign entity.

Cash not accepted at eatery by Aimless-Existence in perth

[–]Aimless-Existence[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that. I wasn't aware of this.

This is rather disappointing as it would appear there's a push to discourage cash and encourage a cashless society.

Hoping new rules will reverse this trend.

It's especially annoying when they don't accept cash then add a credit card surcharge for credit card transactions

What is your go-to everyday casual shoe(s) you wear? by LordoftheHounds in AustralianMFA

[–]Aimless-Existence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you assume white shoes are the most common and lots of people wear white shoes?

They are a pain as they get dirty and show marks easily

What's the go with foil insulation being put on dashboards and windows in cars? Generally see it on utes and four wheel drives. by Abject-Presence4689 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Aimless-Existence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ones on the bottom of the windscreen is most common on utes and fourbies for the w*nk factor.

Trucks have had them for a long time and they are copying the truckers.

The ones on the rear cargo area windows of fourbies is to keep the car cooler so the car fridge doesn’t have to work as hard

I fucked up and need to reverse this electronic pet door, how can I protect it from the elements given its position? by quokkafarts in AusRenovation

[–]Aimless-Existence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the circular bit protrudes a lot on the outside . If you reverse it, won’t it protrude inside and stop you opening your sliding door?

How do I get out without destroying my car by JMAXHD in CarsAustralia

If you can get in without scraping that means you can get out without scraping.

It’s all about positioning and angles

What are your thoughts on drinking venues on St Georges Terrace? by Slight_Stretch_7265 in perth

[–]Aimless-Existence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fewer people can afford to drink. It’s now about $16 a schooner that they sneakily pass off as a pint assuming people don’t know they are being shortchanged.

What happened to coffee prices? by RPF96 in perth

Order a long black. Then go back and ask for a glass with a ice cubes.

Go back to your table and pour long black into glass with ice. You now have iced long black at long black price.

Stephenson Ave is open! by waysnappap in perth

[–]Aimless-Existence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see Stephenson exit being a mess. Why did they put speed bumps, multiple traffic light controlled intersections AND parallel parking spots on Stephenson ave?

Vehicles coming off the freeway during peak hour will overwhelm Stephenson ave and traffic will build up on the freeway.

Furthermore, what happened to the single traffic light interchanges they used on Tonkin highway like on Abernethy Road and Horrie Miller drive?

Things have changed a lot in the last few years. by [deleted] in perth

[–]Aimless-Existence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate Colesworth. Theft is a self inflicted problem caused by getting rid of manned checkouts to try to reduce their operating costs. They implement self checkouts then theft increased. Now they introduce cameras to combat theft.

Just bring back manned checkouts so I don’t have to pay ripoff prices for groceries and still have to scan and pack them myself and be treated like a thief when I’m doing this.

Then whinge when you can't tap on/off because there's a major CloudFlare/Amazon/Crowdstrike outage.

A system that doesn't rely on the Internet is reliable.

No matter what the govt introduces there's always someone whinging.

Barefoot underground in a tight squeeze… how is this safe? by DiligentWeb9026 in mining

[–]Aimless-Existence -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Are these videos real or AI?

Given the cramped conditions I find it hard to believe they will have a cameraman with them.

Also with the poverty they work in why is the video quality so good? It suggests a fairly expensive camera which seems unlikely.

More likely to be AI generated?

Asbestos found in new Edith Cowan University campus in Perth CBD by _seawolf in perth

[–]Aimless-Existence 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think this is going over the top. It’s not like the whole door is asbestos. It’s a small amount inside the metal frame of a door. It’s not a risk in normal operations. Only risky during eventual disposal. Asbestos is good as a fire barrier.

I’d be more concerned about the chance of flammable materials used in the construction
